Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 1676: Chapter 1676: Exempt from Kneeling

Today is the first day of the New Year, and the Emperor came over for lunch.

When Su Yuanyuan knelt, Tan Shaoting also felt something, rubbing his temples, being a cultivator, he understood certain things.

Is there really such an existence? It’s good to be the Emperor, I wonder which of them is that person.

He ordered them to kneel again. As Su Yuanyuan knelt, Tan Shaoting suddenly stood up.

”Announce my decree: Consort Su does not need to kneel anymore.”

Su Yuanyuan was overjoyed in her heart. Nothing is more real than this; for someone with modern thoughts, kneeling all the time is truly unbearable.

The Empress frowned. Could it be that the Emperor has a headache feeling too?

Otherwise, he wouldn’t allow someone not to kneel.

The smile on Su Yuanyuan’s face made the other two very dissatisfied, why? If not kneeling to the Emperor, it means not kneeling to the Empress either.

Everyone wants to do this; why should they, as women of the Emperor, have to kneel?

Tan Shaoting began to pay attention to this little noble consort, watching that amongst so many, she was the only one eating happily.

Although currently not at the stage of energy introduction, his divine sense was still somewhat there, just within the range of the Qi Refinement Realm. Paying attention to this little girl was enough.

Su Yuanyuan didn’t care about anything, the meal today was even better, she had figured it out, the latter half of her life would focus on food, nothing else had meaning.

The Empress was initially very displeased, but watching the noble consort eating contentedly and without a care made her smile wryly, thinking why worry about so much? As long as it doesn’t affect her son, just living steadfastly is her way forward.

Consort Xian and Zhaoyi, watching her eat so heartily, were even more unhappy in their hearts.

Tan Shaoting only put down his chopsticks after that girl had almost finished eating.

The Emperor went back to rest, the three Princes and one Princess also returned to their palaces, leaving the four women staring at each other with nothing to do.

The Empress allowed them to leave. Lying on the bed, she thought about this matter.

Is there something different about Consort Su? Although mortals don’t understand the Heavenly Dao, they are superstitious, thinking maybe Consort Su has some Immortal looking after her?

Then she should be treated more carefully in the future.

The other day, my mother mentioned in private that the Emperor hadn’t visited the harem for two years, nor any other woman, perhaps due to health problems.

Since he can’t sleep with women, what is there to worry about?

A smile appeared on the Empress’s face. In the future, this world belongs to her son.

The other two must find a way. Praise and destruction are somewhat effective now, but still not assured.

Su Yuanyuan returned to Jiaoyang Palace, where Cui Shanggong prepared hot water, she soaked comfortably for a while, thinking if she lived through this life retaining her memory, she probably couldn’t adapt to life in another era.

Habit is formed, she’s gotten used to being served, and doesn’t want to do anything herself.

Life is pretty good like this, on the tenth day, when she went to pay respects to the Empress.

”Empress, I would like to give some rewards to my family.”

”Su, are you homesick?”

Su Yuanyuan shyly nodded, ”At home, there’s only father and brother, and I can’t fulfill my filial duties.”

”Alright, Xu Shanggong, take a pair of Jade Ruyi from my private treasury and give them to Consort Su as addition.”

”Thank you, Empress.”

What could it be, just some gold and silver, and some jewelry rewards. Keeping them here is useless, it only makes them feel petty.

The current persona has been established quite successfully, at least the Empress’s hostility has lessened a lot.

Su Wanshan received the rewards, and sighed in his heart, this girl, huh.

In the evening, only father and son were having dinner.

”Dad, my sister’s letter says you should find another. Both my sister and I have no objections.”

Su Wanshan nodded, ”Last time your sister talked to me about it, but I haven’t found a suitable one yet.”

”Dad, when are you leaving?”

”Waiting for the royal decree. Su Xing, what about your marriage?”

Su Xing shook his head, ”Dad, I haven’t thought about it yet. If you leave, it might be years. I must wait for you to return before getting married.”

Su Wanshan nodded, ”I’ve already asked a matchmaker to inquire, I’ll secure it before leaving.

Anything you want to say, you can mention it later when choosing.”

”Dad, don’t worry about it. We’ll talk about it later, it’s too early to find a match now and it’s too troublesome.”

”Alright, if you’re unwilling, wait a while longer and discuss it later. If it doesn’t work out, let your sister make the decision.”

Su Xing nodded, ”Alright, I got it.”

He really had no idea what he wanted.

Su Yuanyuan’s letter to Su Wanshan wasn’t a secret, so on the eleventh day, a matchmaker came to visit.

”My request is that if I go to the border or some foreign place, she must follow.”

But can’t leave trouble for the son; even if it’s a stepmother, she’d be a senior, and if things don’t go well with the son, it would be troublesome.

”General Su, I need to ask about that. Are you to be reassigned?”

”I’ve applied, don’t know when it will be approved.

The Minister’s family’s young lady might not be able to handle such hardship. The border’s climate is poor, and conditions aren’t great either.”

The matchmaker frowned, what’s wrong with this? With such a status, why insist on going outside on adventures? Truly a martial artist, unaware of how to enjoy blessings.

The Minister from the Minister’s Mansion frowned upon hearing this news, having the same thought as the matchmaker, now that the Su Family can be said to be in its prime. Why go to the border?

At the Minister’s household, they were discussing this matter at night.

The Minister’s wife immediately opposed upon hearing the news, ”My Jiaojiao isn’t someone who can’t get married, and Su Wanshan, that old man, wants her to suffer? I disagree.

Sir, if you wish to have a relationship with the Su Family, Jiaojiao isn’t our only daughter.”

The Minister sighed, marrying into the family is to show the superiors. Sending an illegitimate daughter over is simply unreasonable.

But the wife won’t allow the legitimate daughter to go over.

In the evening, he called the three illegitimate daughters to the study.

Minister Fang is also a rather honest person, fairly just at home.

The three illegitimate daughters sat in front of him, heads down.

He explained Su Wanshan’s situation, ”What do you think?”

None of the three ladies spoke.

”Su Wanshan’s situation is here, in reality, there’s nothing bad about going to the border, living freely.

Staying in the mansion brings many restrictions. Discuss with your concubine mothers and if none of you are willing, then forget it.”

The eldest daughter of the Fang family didn’t return to her courtyard but went directly in search of her concubine mother.

She should actually be the legitimate daughter; for the sake of wealth and rank, Minister Fang demoted his wife to concubine.

Fang Qiongyu discussed the situation with her concubine mother.

”Xiao Yu, I am willing, to leave here, martial artists are stronger than scholars.”

”Mother, I’m just worried about being too far away from you.”

”What use is it being nearby? The Su Family is now thriving, my days here will greatly improve.

Xiao Yu, go ahead, Su Wanshan, at his age, remaining upright, should be good.”
