Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 716: 716 find a middleman

Seeing Zeng Hongling walking from a distance, Yuanyuan finally felt at ease.

”Yuanyuan, I’m fine.” Zeng Hongling quickly ran a few steps to Su Yuanyuan’s side, because she already saw her worried expression.

Su Yuanyuan nodded, truly not letting people relax.

The two children were fine, but the other kids were now too scared to play. They were all frightened by what had just happened.

Actually, Su Yuanyuan was puzzled. Children by the sea often eat seafood, shouldn’t cramps from calcium deficiency be common?

After Zeng Hongling went home and took a shower, she talked to Su Yuanyuan about what had happened earlier.

”We were swimming in the sea when suddenly we heard screams, and I pulled two kids out. They must have been scared.”

”It’s good that you’re okay. Were you scared?” Now there was no point in blaming her.

”No, at that time I was so anxious I forgot to be scared, and when I wanted to be scared, I saw you.”

In the evening, just as the two were about to eat, they heard a knock on the door.

It turned out to be Hai Shan and his wife coming to thank Zeng Hongling.

”No need to be polite, anyone would have done the same.”

”The kids are alright now, right?” Su Yuanyuan asked casually.

”Much better now. Mr. Zeng, don’t go into the sea anymore. The two kids said it felt like something was pulling them.”

Both Su Yuanyuan and Zeng Hongling were taken aback. Is there something like that?

”Mr. Su, Mr. Zeng, two teenagers from the neighboring village drowned in the sea last year.

I think it must be looking for a substitute. Better not go to the seaside anymore.”

Both nodded, internally unsure whether to believe it or not.

After sending the couple away, they returned the sea shrimp they had brought; life in the village was really hard.

”Yuanyuan, do you believe it?” Zeng Hongling asked while eating.

”I don’t know, many things in the world are inexplicable.”

”Yuanyuan, actually, I do believe it. I won’t go to the beach to play in the water anymore.”

”Hmm, it’s better not to go.”

Both of them actually thought about it, but neither knew how to express it.

Su Yuanyuan actually didn’t believe it, but many situations can’t be explained. Anyway, she didn’t dare to say it outright, as it was feudal thinking.

With this mindset, they would keep the children cautious, not go to the seaside, reducing danger.

The next day, the two drove to the county because Su Yuanyuan had to make a call to the Capital. She thought about whom to call all night and finally decided to call Zeng Zhenqing.

Upon receiving Su Yuanyuan’s call, Zeng Zhenqing was very pleased.

”Leader Zeng, could you please ask the Agricultural Technology Department to arrange for research on seeds for saline-alkali lands by the sea? The yield here is too low, and the people are really struggling.”

”Xiao Su. It’s not a problem. Don’t worry, I’ll call the Agricultural Department right away.”

”On behalf of the people here, thank you, Leader.”

After hanging up the phone, she felt much relieved.

”Yuanyuan, are we heading back now?”

”Do you have something else to do?”

”Not really, but it seems a waste to come for nothing.”

”The county is very tight. Let’s just be honest.”

”Yuanyuan, I heard from Da Guo that there’s a black market in the county. I’ve investigated, shall we go take a look? I’m really curious what the northern black market looks like!”

”Did you visit black markets back at home?”

”Of course, I’d definitely go once a month.”

”Alright, let’s go take a look.”

She was delighted, murmured Da Guo’s directions, and actually found it.

But she was really disappointed, there wasn’t much here. Eggs were the best items in the black market, and the two girls bought fifty eggs.

There really wasn’t anything interesting.

”Yuanyuan, how come they don’t have the meat and such you were looking for?”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head, unsure of how to explain, while Zeng Hongling understood this as not knowing, so she didn’t ask further.

The two walked around once, ”Yuanyuan, wait for me outside for a while.”

”Why?”

”Just go outside and wait.”

Did Zeng Hongling find someone she had been observing earlier?

”Comrade, I have a business deal with you.”

Qin Zhong was surprised, looking at this girl who spoke with a foreign accent.

”What is it?”

”Shall we talk on the side?”

Qin Zhong followed Zeng Hongling to a quieter area, just watching her, waiting for her to speak.

”Comrade, I need many old artifacts, if you have the courage, collect them for me. I will come back in two days.”

”Old artifacts? That’s illegal.”

Zeng Hongling laughed, ”What you’re doing isn’t illegal?”

Qin Zhong didn’t speak. This indeed carried significant risks.

”There is certainly risk in this business. If you don’t want to take it, you can contact me, and when I come over, we’ll trade directly. Of course, you won’t suffer, I’ll give you a ten percent commission.”

Qin Zhong was pleased, this definitely worked. He knew of several families with good stuff. All he had to do was ask around and connect the dots, earning money without any capital, truly a risk-free profit.

”Alright, this can be done. Will you really be back in two days?”

”Of course. I’m the one looking for you, besides, there’s no risk for you.”

”Alright then, I’ll go make connections. We’ll meet in front of the supply and marketing cooperative in two days.”

Zeng Hongling nodded, ”No problem, rest assured, if you really find good stuff, you’ll get more money.”

After coming out, Zeng Hongling quietly told Su Yuanyuan about what had just happened. I believe that man can definitely do it.

”That would be the best.” Su Yuanyuan had no objections, this saved effort for both, and with an intermediary, maybe more could be found. After getting in the car, Zeng Hongling excitedly chatted a lot.

Su Yuanyuan was definitely a qualified listener, just listening to the girl speak excitedly.

”Hongling, I think you should best learn in the future, working in a museum would be great?”

”Me? Definitely not, I don’t want to be constrained.”

The two returned home and had steamed egg custard for lunch.

”Yuanyuan, life like this is truly delightful.”

”It’s good if you like it.”

”I love the seaside.” Zeng Hongling said blissfully.

In the afternoon, Su Yuanyuan visited the old village chief’s house and explained the situation.

”Arrangements will certainly be made. Let’s just wait.”

”Thank you, Xiao Su, for thinking about our small matters.”

”I’m happy to do something for everyone.” Su Yuanyuan wasn’t there to claim credit, just wanting everyone to feel a bit at ease, without too much pressure.
