Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 704: 704 Oh, I see

Wang Er’s wife was very enthusiastic and knew that Yuanyuan had come to the village to stay.

She once told Wang Er that if their family built a new house, they must let Yuanyuan stay with them. She knew that Yuanyuan would not let them feel wronged.

”Xiao Su, don’t be shy, these are apricots from our home, and they’re really delicious.”

It’s really rare, as it’s not easy to have fruits in this era.

”Thank you, sister-in-law.”

”No need to be polite. Take some with you later, these are freshly picked ripe ones.”

”Better to leave them for the kids to eat.”

”If they want to eat, they’ll pick them themselves. Don’t hesitate.”

After a while, three people came over with the kids.

Each of them gave Yuanyuan seven yuan, making both parties relieved.

At noon, the two girls cooked some noodles at home; it was simple and convenient, and they still had to render oil in the afternoon.

Several families were rendering oil, and the aroma spread through half the village.

Some felt envious inside, but they knew it was Xiao Su returning favors.

In the afternoon, the two girls cleaned the house. Once everything was tidied up, they made dumplings in the evening.

Since there were no vegetables, Zeng Hongling went to buy from the locals, who refused to take money, knowing this wasn’t a one-time thing.

”Yuanyuan, these dumplings with oil residue filling are really fragrant.”

”I like this filling too.”

Both of them ate a lot. ”Hongling, let’s take a stroll by the sea, maybe we can find some small crabs or something. We can make seafood porridge tomorrow morning.”

”Yuanyuan, how are you so capable? You’re good both in the hall and the kitchen, your husband really has a good eye. He found you early.”

Yuanyuan rolled her eyes at Zeng Hongling, ”Come on, I ate too much, I need to walk it off outside.”

And truly, armed with flashlights, they actually collected over twenty small crabs.

”Are these small ones edible? How much meat can they have?” Zeng Hongling was very disdainful.

”These are the kind, they’re mitten crabs. Their taste is very delicious, we’ll use them to make porridge tomorrow.”

”I’ve never tried them before. Yuanyuan, let’s travel across the country one day and try all the culinary delights. Don’t worry about money, I have it.”

”Alright, let’s go when we have the chance.” Yuanyuan yearned for such a life too.

After coming back and showering, they each went to their rooms to sleep.

The next morning before dawn, they headed to the seaside with baskets, hoping to gather more seafood in addition to the small crabs.

Zeng Hongling loved giant prawns the most, so she unceremoniously picked out all the big ones.

”Yuanyuan, I heard yesterday that the kids are going to catch sea creatures, I’ll join them later.”

”You go yourself, I’m not going, I’m afraid of getting tanned. I’m worried the kids will be sad if I get tanned.”

”Alright, I’ll go, I’m not afraid of getting tanned.”

They paid and went home with the baskets to make a meal.

Zeng Hongling learned alongside. Her wish was to cook for Yuanyuan in the future.

After tasting the delicious seafood porridge, ”Yuanyuan, your cooking skills are just as good as Master Li’s.”

”Really? I still think Master Li’s skills are superior.”

After a full meal, Zeng Hongling set off with the basket. She really liked this life, feeling that living in the village was much better than in the sanatorium. Free and easy, without worrying about offending any important figures.

Yuanyuan had nothing to do at home. She closed the door and entered the space.

She hadn’t been in for a long time. She sighed in comfort but soon came out, fearing Zeng Hongling might return.

While strolling in the village, she saw all the women working. She sat down to help with some tasks.

Honestly, these were skilled hands. Watching others, it seemed simple, but when she tried, small issues arose.

Feng Shanshan saw Yuanyuan coming over, she always wanted to have a good chat with Yuanyuan. Even though people in the village said she had amnesia, she still needed to talk to her.

By ten in the morning, the work here was done. Everyone went home.

”Mr. Su, do you have time to chat?”

Looking at this young girl, Yuanyuan nodded.

”Let’s go to my house, I’m alone, it’ll be easier to talk.”

”Okay, but I need to go home and tell my friend, in case she can’t find me.”

”I’ll go with you.”

Zeng Hongling had already returned. She was sorting the seafood she had gathered in the yard.

”Hongling, I’m going out for a bit.”

Zeng Hongling nodded at the young girl behind Yuanyuan, ”Alright, we’re having rice for lunch, I’ve asked how to cook the seafood. I’ll let you try my cooking.”

Yuanyuan smiled and nodded, thinking that boiling them in clear water shouldn’t be too bad.

She followed Feng Shanshan, listening to the girl’s heartfelt thoughts.

It turned out this girl had already been discovered by Tan Shaoting and his group, and the higher-ups knew about it too.

The real person had reminded this girl on the day of the incident, so she must have wanted to talk to her about it.

Entering the young girl’s yard, it was quite tidy, and the yard was full of vegetables. She was a diligent girl.

Actually, if Hu Zi found her like this, she would plead for her, depending on what she begged for.

”Mr. Su, please sit down. You guys just moved here, you must not have any vegetables. Pull some from my yard to take back; I can’t finish them by myself.”

”Thank you. I wonder why you wanted to see me?”

”I’m just grateful to you. Even though someone said you lost your memory, I still must thank you.

Actually, it’s for myself too. I’m afraid of being discovered by your people, and at that time, I’ll need your help, Mr. Su.”

”Did you do something illegal?”

The young girl shook her head. ”Since you forgot, I’ll tell you again what you once said to me.”

Feng Shanshan remembered very clearly, although it had been two years, it was etched in her heart.

Yuanyuan listened to Feng Shanshan’s words and nodded, ”I understand. What’s your intention then?”

”I just want to live a plain and simple life until I can take the college entrance exam and go to school.

After that, find a stable job and live out my life.”

”Hmm, okay. If one day our people find you, I’ll vouch for you, but I don’t know what the outcome will be.”

”Thank you, Yuanyuan, thank you so much.”

”No need, it’s really all up to you. I truly have amnesia, I don’t remember the old events of that woman.

But I think you’ve done quite well. Isn’t life the same no matter where you live? If you want peace, you can live a peaceful life.”

Feng Shanshan nodded, ”I know, I’m already working hard. A while ago I went to the county and got all the textbooks, and I self-study when I have free time.”
