Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 459: 459 became

The children are used to coming for water and having a snack after class.

Today, Su Yuanyuan prepared snacks and a cup of milk powder for each child, and it’s the same for Zhang Yaohan.

Seeing the villagers greet him, he enthusiastically chatted with Hu Chunhua.

At this time, Tan Shaoting returned. He spoke briefly with Zhang Yaohan.

”Chunsheng, let’s go.”

Ever since getting up in the morning, Zhang Chunsheng had been particularly excited, waiting for Tan Shaoting to return.

”Go to the building and buy more snacks,” Su Yuanyuan instructed.

”Do we need anything else?”

”We’re running low on milk powder too.” Actually, the children had always been drinking the milk powder from Su Yuanyuan’s space, but since Zhang Yaohan would be around for the next few months, it’s best to get some openly visible supplies.

Tan Shaoting nodded, said something to Hu Chunhua, ruffled the three kids’ hair, and left with Yang Chunsheng.

Hu Chunhua was quite excited too. Even in the Capital, and even more so in their small city, it was really hard to get a temporary job. Now they owed the young couple a favor.

Zhang Yaohan didn’t eat the snacks; after drinking the milk powder, he waited on the side for the three children. He wanted to play a small game with them.

After they returned to class, Su Yuanyuan and Hu Chunhua started to prepare lunch.

Today, they planned to make dumplings; they taste better that way.

The two of them worked fast, chatting as they went.

Initially, Hu Chunhua intended to follow her husband’s advice and not tell Yuanyuan about the Su Family’s situation, but she accidentally blurted it out while talking.

”Yuanyuan, you wouldn’t know, Su Daqiang is mighty in the other village, beat up that man, and the family disagreed and insisted on reporting to the police.

There was no choice but for your uncle and them to go over. Your uncle said there were layers upon layers of people watching the spectacle.”

Su Yuanyuan certainly understood. People always enjoy watching such events.

”I think he doesn’t want his family anymore. It’s unexpected that the woman he has his eyes on is like that, so maybe he couldn’t accept it and beat them?”

”That’s what your uncle said. Also, since you left last year, Tian Xiaohua and Su Liangliang have really changed. The mother and son both took up regular work, and after work, they still make adobe bricks; they even got a plot of land in the southwest end of our village.”

”Is it to stay far away from Su Daqiang?”

”I’d say so. Now, in the eyes of the villagers, the mother and son have changed a lot.”

”That’s quite good. At least it’s not wasted.”

”Yes, not wasted indeed.”

The mother and son worked quickly. By eleven, the dumplings were ready.

”Teacher Zhang, would you like to stay for lunch?”

”What about Xiao Tan?”

”Even if he returns, it won’t be soon. Let’s eat and not wait for them.”

Zhang Yaohan didn’t decline, smiling as he nodded. He could smell the aroma. They had put sesame oil in the dumpling filling.

Hu Chunhua started the fire. Su Yuanyuan prepared side dishes: a plate of vermicelli sausage, a plate of meat sausage, a plate of braised beef, and a plate of mixed cucumber.

That’s quite a feast. Once the dumplings were cooked, the six of them started eating, leaving unboiled dumplings for Tan Shaoting and the others to eat when they returned.

Tan Shaoting drove to the enamel factory. At the gate, he mentioned he was looking for Director Li.

Li Ziwen heard that someone drove over to see him.

”What kind of person?”

”A very good-looking young man, and another young man.”

Li Ziwen immediately thought of Tan Shaoting and hurried out.

”Mr. Tan, please come in. As soon as they described you, I guessed it was you.”

Tan Shaoting smiled, ”Sorry to trouble Director Li.”

”No need to be polite. I couldn’t wait for you to come. Please come in.”

The three of them walked in the factory. Yang Chunsheng looked at the neat and clean factory and felt excited. Perhaps he might have the chance to work here; even if he couldn’t, just visiting such a factory was worthwhile.

”Director Li, is the factory busy now?”

”How could it not be busy? Every day, there are urgent orders to fill,” Li Ziwen said with a smile.

In the office, ”Mr. Tan, please sit. This gentleman too, please make yourself comfortable.”

As he spoke, Li Ziwen went to pour water.

”Director Li, no need to busy yourself. I’m here today to ask for your help.”

”Asking me for help? No need for such formality. Whatever it is, just say it. Even if I personally can’t do it, I’ll find a way.”

After all, you saved my life. Without you, I might not even be here.”

”Director Li, this is my younger brother from my hometown. I’m hoping you could arrange a job for him.”

”Is that all?”

”Yes, that’s all. If it’s too difficult for Director Li, just pretend I didn’t say it. I’ll find another way.”

”Mr. Tan, are you joking with me? It’s just a job; of course, I can arrange that. He can start work as early as tomorrow, but if he’s from out of town, he needs to transfer his household registration.”

”The household can be transferred too?”

”Yes, it makes management easier.”

”Then I really must thank Director Li. My brother is honest, both in work and character, so Director Li can be assured he won’t cause any trouble.”

Li Ziwen nodded, ”This young man seems like an honest fellow. But starting out, he’ll have to work in the workshop for some time. Then, when there’s an opportunity, I’ll promote him. As long as I’m here, he’ll definitely be more than just an ordinary worker.”

”Director Li, if it’s too much trouble for a permanent worker, starting as a temp is fine too.”

”No trouble at all. If I can’t handle something like this, what kind of director am I?”

Tan Shaoting gestured for Yang Chunsheng to speak, as they had discussed on the way there.

Yang Chunsheng nervously stood up, ”Director Li, hello. I’m Yang Chunsheng from Jue Mountain, L Town, T City. I’m twenty years old this year.

I have no bad habits. I promise I’ll work hard in the future and never do anything wrong. Please see my future performance.”

Li Ziwen smiled; this was a simple and honest young man. Over time, even if his abilities were average, given Tan Shaoting, he would certainly be promoted.

”Good, work hard, and I’ll have someone take you to process the hiring paperwork. Then you can return home to transfer your household registration and officially start working.”

Yang Chunsheng nodded excitedly, ”Thank you, Director Li, for the opportunity. I will definitely perform well.”

Li Ziwen nodded with a smile and called in a bespectacled colleague.

”Xiao Lin, please take Comrade Yang Chunsheng to complete the entry procedures, and make him a permanent worker immediately.”

”Yes, Director Li. Assign him to the workshop?”

”Yes, directly to the first workshop.”

When he saw Tan Shaoting nod, Yang Chunsheng followed Accountant Lin to handle the formalities.

Brought by Secretary Lin as instructed by Director Li, the entry procedures were processed very quickly. Only the residence permit and household registration certificate, along with the introductory letter, were needed.
