Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 457: 457 arrives

Driving past them, I glanced in the mirror unintentionally, unsure, and then used Divine Sense to look again. Aren’t they people from my wife’s hometown?

How did they get here? Looking in this direction, are they coming to see my wife?

So I shifted gears and reversed the car.

Hu Chunhua wanted to stop the car that just passed by, but she didn’t have the courage. This wasn’t an ox cart or a horse cart; it was a car, and she knew that those who could drive cars were capable people. So, she didn’t dare.

Seeing the car driving backwards suddenly startled her, and she thought to herself, ”Could it be bad people?” She worried about the things brought for Yuanyuan being snatched away; it would be heartbreaking. No, she couldn’t let that happen.

When Tan Shaoting stopped the car and got out, he saw Hu Chunhua’s face full of horror. But upon seeing him, her face was full of surprise and joy.

”Aunt, you and Chunsheng came to see Yuanyuan?”

”Xiao Tan, it’s you, you scared me to death,” said Hu Chunhua. She then placed all the things in her hands on the ground; she was truly exhausted.

Yang Chunsheng also put his things down. He was so tired, his clothes were soaked with sweat.

”Yes, I’m here with my mom to see you guys. My mom misses Yuanyuan, misses the three kids.”

Tan Shaoting felt a bit emotional. ”You rest, I’ll load the car.”

Yang Chunsheng helped too, while Hu Chunhua, being older, felt so tired she couldn’t even lift her arms.

”Aunt, get in the car and rest.”

The mother and son got in the car, finally feeling a bit more comfortable.

”Aunt, why didn’t you write a letter when you came over? Carrying so many things is too tiring.”

”It’s okay, we figured out how to take the bus, but there were too many people, we couldn’t squeeze in. There was no choice but to walk, luckily, we ran into you, otherwise, who knows when we would get here.”

”Wasn’t it lucky to run into me? I was called over there on short notice today, which delayed me.”

He was somewhat dissatisfied, as it delayed his time to go home, eat, and see the kids.

”Xiao Tan, is Yuanyuan and the kids doing well?”

”They’re fine, Aunt, don’t worry,” he assured someone genuinely caring for his wife.

Although Tan Shaoting was emotionally reserved, he truly cared for his wife and kids, that’s for sure.

”Has the main autumn harvest been completed at home?”

”There’s not much work left, your Uncle is there.”

”What does Chunsheng think about being here?”

”It’s a good place.”

”Would you like to come here for work?”

”Come here? Can I really?”

”You can, but it’s quite tiring too.”

”Xiao Tan, don’t worry about it.” Of course, Hu Chunhua wished her son could have a regular job, but she didn’t want to trouble anyone.

”Aunt, I’m just saying. I still have to ask around. There are a lot of factories here. But to directly become a regular worker is not realistic, it takes time.”

”Xiao Tan, if it’s too troublesome, forget it.”

”I’ll try, I don’t know many people here.”

Tan Shaoting actually knew someone. When he first came, he helped the enamel factory director. If he asked around, it could be possible.

That’s why they could have the courage to come over to see the wife and kids, otherwise, he wouldn’t have mentioned it at all.

”Then I’ll have to trouble you.”

Yang Chunsheng, sitting in the back, was very excited. What young person wants to farm in their hometown? Of course, he’d hope to get out and see the world, especially since this is the Capital. He was amazed as soon as he got off the train.

Now, being told there’s a chance to work here, how could he not be excited?

After getting to the garrison, they checked in and drove straight home.

Su Yuanyuan heard the knock on the door and was puzzled. Tan Shaoting usually came in himself. Who could it be?

Opening the door, she saw Yang Chunsheng unloading the car and Hu Chunhua getting out.

”Aunt, how did you come here?” Su Yuanyuan exclaimed joyfully.

”To see you,” smiled Hu Chunhua.

Su Yuanyuan came out and took Hu Chunhua’s hand. ”Aunt, come in.”

Leading Hu Chunhua inside, leaving the two men to unload the car.

The children were already bathed, playing on the kang bed, curiously listening to their mom’s laughter,

and seeing Hu Chunhua coming in, all three stood up and happily called, ”Great Aunt.”

Hu Chunhua let go of Su Yuanyuan’s hand and pulled the three kids close. She was so delighted.

”You three keep Great Aunt company, I’ll make dinner.”

At this moment, Tan Shaoting and Yang Chunsheng walked in. ”Yuanyuan, you stay with Aunt, I’ll make dinner.”

Su Yuanyuan nodded with a smile. ”Chunsheng, go wash up, then Aunt can wash. Rest first.”

”Yes, they need to rest. I met Aunt on the road, she and Chunsheng were carrying a lot of things to walk over.”

”Alright, you go cook.”

Hu Chunhua pulled out three pairs of shoes from her bag for the kids to try on.

”I know these three kids grow fast, so I made them a bit bigger.”

”Aunt, you’re so busy, yet you make shoes.”

”It’s nothing, making shoes for such small children is no big deal.”

The boys had theirs in black corduroy, and Qi Wen’s were red corduroy. They fit well. The kids walked around on the kang bed.

Hu Chunhua smiled so broadly that her teeth couldn’t be seen.

The kids’ reaction was a form of affirmation for her, making her very happy.

”Aunt, is all the work at home finished?”

”Yes, not much left. There’s the garden and the private plot, your Uncle is there.”

”Aunt, you shouldn’t have brought all these things just because you came over.”

”Whatever’s at home, I brought some for you. There’s no land here, everything has to be bought.”

Su Yuanyuan laughed; this was the most genuine concern from a female elder.

Outside, Yang Chunsheng washed up, then helped Tan Shaoting cook.

They steamed rice and made braised pork and braised beef, and also brought out sausages and roast chicken.

Yang Chunsheng saw this and thought it truly was a hearty meal.

Tan Shaoting was quite straightforward, saying that all this meat really satisfied cravings, right?

If Su Yuanyuan had prepared the meal, there would certainly be a couple of vegetarian dishes. Not because of stinginess, but for a balanced diet, right?

”Chunsheng, I’ll take you over tomorrow to see about work. It’s not easier than farming.”

”If it’s really possible, I’d love to. But don’t push yourself too hard.”

”It’s alright, we’ll give it a try tomorrow.”

Actually, Yang Chunsheng wanted to be a soldier, but Tan Shaoting wouldn’t help with that. If anything happened, there’d be no explaining it. But finding a regular job shouldn’t be a problem.

It was already bedtime for the three kids, but since guests were here, how could they sleep?

Su Yuanyuan didn’t mind them and let them enjoy the novelty.

”Aunt, how’s the harvest this year? Can you be away from home?”

”Why not? Someone’s keeping track, plus I’ll head back the day after tomorrow. Seeing you three all doing well, I’m relieved.”
