Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 385: Introduction 385

Tan Shaoting nodded, ”I thought it was for some other reason.

What kind are you looking for?”

”Are you trying to set me up with someone?”

”Yeah, tell me your requirements.”

”Are you really setting me up? I honestly don’t have any requirements, an average woman is fine, mainly because of our job.

It might always get complaints from the wife, right?”

”What if I introduce you to a woman who doesn’t care about your long-term busyness, inability to take care of the family, and risky job? Would you be willing?”

”Are there really people like that?”

”Yes, there are. Do you want to meet her?”

”It’s not your wife’s sister who came over yesterday, right?”

”Yes, that’s her, she’s nineteen this year. I overheard my wife and her chatting yesterday. She’s living independently at the farm now, and according to her, she can support herself.

But if she doesn’t like you, there’s nothing I can do.”

”What does your little sister-in-law require?”

”She’s older than my wife.”

”Your big sister-in-law.”

”She didn’t specifically say, but I think it can’t be someone who doesn’t like to talk, being too quiet won’t work.

The most important thing is that she must be able to fancy you.”

”How am I supposed to know if she likes me?”

”Then come over to my house for dinner tonight. We haven’t told her about it yet.”

”Got it, even if it doesn’t work out, it’s still nice to have a meal at your place.

I have to say, Tan Shaoting, you’re so stingy, it’s been a while, and you’ve never invited me for a meal.”

”When does my wife have time? Now that the three kids are walking, it’s a tiring time.”

”Alright, alright, stop showing off. Wait for me after work tonight.”

Tan Shaoting returned to his office, thinking that this matter was settled. As for whether it would work out or not, that was up to them.

At noon, it was just the two of them eating, Zhao Yanli made hand-pulled noodles with diced beef sauce for Su Yuanyuan, which tasted excellent. She even secretly fed some to the three kids.

Su Yuanyuan noticed but didn’t stop it; the kids could eat normally now, after all.

After eating, the two of them accompanied the kids to sleep, not expecting that Zhao Yanli would fall asleep too.

In the afternoon, the two still took the kids to the market.

”Yuanyuan, I feel like eating pancakes. Meat pancakes are even better.”

”Sure, if you don’t mind the heat, you can make them tonight.”

”No problem, just help me mix the filling.”

”I can do that.”

Back home, Zhao Yanli started preparing; being people who’ve cooked for years, she didn’t find it troublesome.

Meanwhile, Su Yuanyuan cooked porridge in another pot; you can’t just have dry food in the evening, right?

So by the time Tan Shaoting and Zhang Chunsheng returned, they could smell the strong aroma as soon as they approached the house.

”Meat pancakes, I’ve been craving them for years.”

The two entered the courtyard, and the three little ones ran over and hugged Tan Shaoting’s leg.

”Seeing your kids makes me envious.”

”Then perform well, and maybe your wish will come true too?”

”That’s not something I can decide!”

Su Yuanyuan heard the commotion outside, came out, and smiled at Zhang Chunsheng.

”Xiao Su, sorry for the intrusion, but today’s meal seems quite sumptuous!”

”Ha, Mr. Zhang has a good fortune, indeed. (Thinking: You really have nerve.)

”Absolutely, the cuisine here is different from what we have back home. I’ve been wanting to eat meat pancakes.”

”Then eat plenty today, Mr. Zhang. Luckily, we made a lot, otherwise, it might not have been enough.”

Tan Shaoting spoke to the kids and started setting the table in the courtyard, just with simple greens. But thinking Zhang Chunsheng wouldn’t mind.

Watching the busy Tan Shaoting, Zhang Chunsheng was really impressed.

He squatted to play with the three little ones, finding them identical and fascinating.

Really beautiful, even more than the children in New Year paintings.

The three little ones, unfamiliar with him, didn’t want to play with him; they just ran around the yard, chasing each other.

Zhao Yanli was sweating in the kitchen, but the aroma made her feel it was worth it.

The table was set, and the last batch of meat pancakes was almost done.

Su Yuanyuan entered the kitchen, ”Xiao Li, go wash up, I’ll take over so we can eat later.

Tan Shaoting has brought his colleague.”

Zhao Yanli turned to look at Su Yuanyuan’s smiling face, recalling their conversation from yesterday, ”Alright.”

She felt no shyness or embarrassment.

Earlier, Su Yuanyuan already had Tan Shaoting take Zhang Chunsheng to the living room, so Zhao Yanli wouldn’t feel awkward about showering.

The meat pancakes were served, and now the three kids circled the table. They’d been eager after smelling the aroma, but their mom hadn’t allowed them in the kitchen, and now that it was on the table, they knew they could eat.

”Mom.”

”Mom.”

”Mom.”

The three kids shouted in unison, and Tan Shaoting, who was chatting with Zhang Chunsheng in the living room, was excited when he heard them call ’mom’.

Wondering what they would sound like calling ’dad’.

Zhao Yanli was quick to shower and even washed her own clothes afterward.

Now, Tan Shaoting and Zhang Chunsheng were called out to eat.

”Xiao Li, this is Tan Shaoting’s colleague, Zhang Chunsheng.

Mr. Zhang, this is my sister, Zhao Yanli, visiting from the farm.”

The two shook hands, and Zhang Chunsheng got the impression that this girl was capable.

In his mind, a girl’s hand should be soft, but shaking hands with Zhao Yanli felt no different from a man’s hand, just smaller.

Zhao Yanli wasn’t interested in Zhang Chunsheng, so treated him like an ordinary person.

Everyone sat down to eat. Su Yuanyuan wanted to give the kids some meat filling, but Tan Shaoting stopped her.

The three kids were a bit anxious, with Qi Wen blushing, ”Dad.”

Then Tan Shaoting was satisfied, quickly putting a piece of meat filling into his daughter’s bowl. Qi Yan and Qi Hong seemed to understand too, eagerly calling ’dad’.

Su Yuanyuan ignored them, ”Mr. Zhang, don’t be shy. There are so many pancakes. Eat until you’re full.”

Zhang Chunsheng nodded with a smile, ”I won’t be shy. These pancakes taste really good.”

”If you like them, have more.

Xiao Li, you’ve been busy for so long, eat more.”

”Do I need you to tell me? You eat up too.”

Tan Shaoting was just eating the pancake skin, watching the kids use their own spoons to eat the meat filling in their bowls, his face filled with joy.

Zhang Chunsheng looked at his silly grin, but kept his complaints to himself, too busy enjoying the rare taste he’d been longing for, one he hadn’t had in years. Though the chef was also from the north, conditions didn’t allow for it.
