My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 335: Chapter 167: Chief?

He nodded in assessment.

The woman was completely dumbfounded, then said urgently, ”And you can just sit there?!”

Yun Guanyu frowned and asked, confused, ”So what if he’s entered the True Essence Realm? Why shouldn’t I be able to sit still?”

”No, that’s not it! You were the one who guided him here, who personally assigned him to the Post House! That means you were the first to discover him! And you’re not going to recruit him into our Celestial Martial Lineage?! If you go, there’s a huge chance he’ll accept!”

The woman said, her eyes glinting with excitement.

Yun Guanyu’s brows knitted. After a moment’s thought, he shook his head. ”I’m not going.”

”Huh?” The woman was flabbergasted. ”Why not?”

”I have fish to watch.”

Yun Guanyu remained perfectly serene.

”???”

A vein bulged on the woman’s temple as she finally exploded. ”You’re the Deputy Hall Master! We’re talking about a genius disciple, and we clearly have the upper hand... and you’re not even going to try and recruit him? What fish is so important? Believe me, I’ll snap your fishing rod in two right now!”

Yun Guanyu lifted his eyelids to glance at her, then ignored her completely.

”???”

...

In the blink of an eye, the sky grew dark, but a large number of contestants from D Building still hadn’t had their turn...

After all, with only twenty platforms and twenty people per round, a single day was clearly not enough time.

”Today’s preliminary selections are concluded. All remaining participants are to arrive punctually at 9:15 AM tomorrow.”

At 5 PM, a Black Armored Soldier stepped forward and announced loudly.

The day’s examination was over.

The clamoring crowd gradually began to disperse.

Qin Fang, who had been standing all day, stretched his stiff back...

’Looks like Master and the others really didn’t make it into the city.’

He thought to himself.

He had stood here all day without leaving, hoping that if his master and the others entered the city and saw him, they might find a way to make contact.

But it turned out... he had waited for nothing.

’...What on earth could have happened to them?’

He wondered.

”Brother Qin?”

Qian Ruhai’s voice, now tinged with a new politeness, called out.

Qin Fang looked up at him. Noticing Qian Ruhai’s obviously strained smile, he raised an eyebrow and said playfully, ”This isn’t like you.”

Qian Ruhai was stunned for a moment, but he quickly understood. A wry smile spread across his face as he shook his head. ”Alright, it’s a little intimidating... But you can’t blame me. You’re a True Essence Realm Martial Artist now, and... barring any accidents, you’re bound to become a True Disciple of the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect at the very least. How could a mere Commerce Association Steward like me not be nervous?”

As he spoke, his face filled with awe...

’He still remembered his first casual chat with Qin Fang, when they had talked about Wu Xueci and the many prodigies who admired her.’

’Back then, he had spoken so confidently, but had ultimately admitted... those were people far beyond his reach.’

’He had even advised Qin Fang not to harbor any wild ambitions.’

’But now...’

’...The Talent Qin Fang had displayed was in no way inferior to Miss Xueci’s!’

’And as long as he didn’t meet an untimely end, he was destined to become one of those ’prodigies’ and ’great figures’ he himself had talked about!’

’...The reversal was a bit much to take in.’

Even he was having trouble adjusting. Facing Qin Fang now, he didn’t dare to be the slightest bit presumptuous.

Qin Fang smiled and clapped him on the shoulder. ”What’s so different? Am I not still me?”

Qian Ruhai froze for a second, then heard Qin Fang laugh. ”Alright, let’s head back. By the way, tomorrow is still the preliminary selection... I don’t have to show up, do I?”

Qian Ruhai snapped out of his daze and hurried to catch up. After a moment’s hesitation, he said, ”You don’t have to, but... you’re probably going to have your hands full for a while.”

”Oh?” Qin Fang asked, surprised.

Qian Ruhai spread his hands. ”You have a True Essence Realm Cultivation at such a young age, and your Talent is astonishing. You’re pretty much guaranteed to take first place in this Martial Arts Examination... You’re bound to become a major figure in Lanyang City, with a limitless future. In the coming days, tons of major powers in Lanyang City will be sending people to contact you, to befriend you... maybe even to recruit you... Do you really think you’ll have any free time?”

This was indeed a hassle... and precisely why Qin Fang had always wanted to keep a low profile.

When you reach a high position, people naturally flock to you, drawn by your reputation.

They come to befriend you with all sorts of motives...

And dealing with all of them...

...would definitely consume a great deal of time and energy.

However, Qin Fang had already figured out how he would handle it.

”Heh heh, speaking of which... I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble Brother Qian a bit.”

Qin Fang said, patting Qian Ruhai’s shoulder with a wide grin.

”Huh? Me?”

Qian Ruhai looked completely bewildered.

Not long after, Qin Fang returned to the Post House.

Qian Ruhai was not with him.

But soon enough, Qian Ruhai came rushing to A Nineteen Courtyard, a few Maids and servants in tow...

Shortly after Qin Fang returned to the Post House, a group of people arrived outside its main gate.

A man who looked like a steward led his people straight into the Post House and stopped before A Nineteen Courtyard.

He stepped forward, knocked, and announced respectfully, ”Is Young Master Qin Fang present? We are Stewards from the East City Nine Industries Trading Company in Lanyang City. By our master’s order, we have come to pay our respects and offer a humble gift to congratulate Young Master Qin on his brilliant performance in the Martial Arts Examination!”

The courtyard gate remained shut.

The man who looked like a steward paused, then raised his voice slightly. ”My master says that he has long heard of Young Master Qin’s extraordinary talent and is filled with admiration. We dare not ask for a deep acquaintance, but only hope that when you have a moment to spare, you might allow us to offer you a cup of tea and listen to your wisdom...”

Before he could finish, the courtyard gate opened with a CREAK.

However, the person who appeared was not Qin Fang, but a smiling Qian Ruhai.

Qian Ruhai cupped his hands in a salute and smiled. ”Greetings, Steward. My name is Qian Ruhai, and I am temporarily handling some mundane affairs for Brother Qin. He has just finished Breaking Realm and is currently stabilizing his Cultivation, so it is inconvenient for him to receive guests. I hope you will forgive our lack of courtesy...”
