Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Katsura on Something

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Whoa! sister Mochou, are you... cross-dressing?

Saten Ruiko stared at the livestream showing Li Mochou, now broadcasting live, with a shocked expression.

Doujin Artist: Now that’s what I call a surprise!

Amegakure Village’s Angel: Gotta admit, this look really suits Mochou. Honestly, she looks cooler than most guys.

Machete Girl: Yeah, and you can’t even tell she’s a woman at all. How’d she do it?

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: It’s a disguise technique I picked up while traveling near Lake Tai a few years ago.

Doujin Artist: A disguise technique? Sounds like the martial arts world is kinda magical too. I bet it works just as well as the transformation jutsu in Naruto.

This is an Actor: Disguises need special materials to pull off, but transformation jutsu is easier to use. Thing is, transformation jutsu can only mimic a set form, while disguise techniques can be adjusted in more detail.

Curly-haired Guy: Hmph, I’d say Mochou-chan now is... about half as cool as me, Gintoki.

Doujin Artist: Really? You’re lying to yourself that hard?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: In terms of looks, Gintoki, you don’t even come close to half of what Mochou-jie is pulling off right now. But if we’re talking about talking big, ten Mochous still couldn’t beat you.

Machete Girl: Hahaha, Ruiko-chan’s summary is too spot-on.

Curly-haired Guy: Come on! I’m not that bad, am I?

Doujin Artist: Please, just look at the way those girls around Mochou-jie are secretly checking her out. Now look at the way the girls around you are giving you the cold shoulder. Still think you’re winning?

Soul Society’s Bad Guy: If he had that kind of self-awareness, he wouldn’t be Gintoki.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: True that.

Curly-haired Guy: Seriously? You’re all ganging up on me now? All I did was speak a little truth, and this is how I’m treated?

Doujin Artist: What truth? That was complete nonsense.

Machete Girl: Gintoki, you really are full of it.

Katsura let out a helpless sigh. She couldn’t help but comment—Gintoki really was a walking joke.

”This should be the place, right?” Just as she was thinking that, Kazuko spoke up beside her.

Katsura snapped out of her thoughts and looked where she was pointing. Ahead was a quiet village, dimly lit by scattered lights.

”Ah, we finally made it.” Yukki let out a breath of relief. ”Good thing nothing major happened along the way. We can finally rest.”

They had walked nearly twenty kilometers from where they got off the vehicle. Everyone was exhausted—except Katsura.

”Let’s ask around and see if there’s an inn,” Kira said as he started walking into the village.

”Hold on a second.” Katsura reached out to stop him. ”Something’s not right about this place.”

Some houses had lights on, but her spiritual sense didn’t pick up any signs of life. That was definitely strange.

”Not right? You mean...” Kazuko seemed to realize something, and her expression turned grim.

”Wait here,” Katsura said.

Before the words even finished, Katsura Kotonoha’s figure vanished. When she reappeared, she was already standing in front of a house with its lights still on. She looked through the window — as expected, not a single person inside.

But everything was neat and in place, with no signs of any attack. She quickly checked a few more lit-up houses the same way, and they were all just like that.

What’s going on here? Where did everyone go?

Kotonoha frowned deeply. Something felt off — really off.

”Ah!” Suddenly, a scream tore through the night sky.

Kotonoha’s eyes widened — that was Sakazaki Yuki’s voice. A moment later, she saw several of her companions running wildly into the village, completely panicked. Behind them was a huge group of pale-faced villagers that looked just like zombies. ℴ

”The worst-case scenario really happened.” Kotonoha took a deep breath and placed her hand on her sword.

Whoosh.

She vanished and appeared right in the middle of the mob. A flash of silver light burst out, and sword energy swept through the crowd.

Slash, slash, slash.

The sound of the blade cutting through flesh echoed over and over. Severed limbs and black, filthy blood flew in every direction.

Of course, the rest of the group didn’t see any of this. They were all focused on watching Li Mochou’s livestream.

Doujin Artist: Man, this batch of martial artists is kind of weak. Not even one person showed up with five wins in a row on Protect.

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: I already told you this was just the warm-up matches. But no one listened and made me stream it anyway.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: We were just curious!

Amegakure Village’s Angel: The warm-up’s still fun to watch. It’s way more interesting than training, at least.

Doujin Artist: Hahaha, Konan-neesan really hates training that much?

Amegakure Village’s Angel: Try getting drilled by Hua-jie and see how *you* feel.

Doujin Artist: No thanks, I’d like to stay alive.

Pretty Boy from Skull Island: The guy on the left... something’s off with his palm technique. He’s focused too much on form and not enough on intent. He’s not gonna last long.

This is an Actor: Yeah. And his footing’s unstable too — even his basics aren’t solid.

Machete Girl: Ah! Anran-san!

This is an Actor: I’m here. What’s up?

Machete Girl: Smooch~ Mua~

Pfft.

On screen, Li Mochou, who still had tea in her mouth, immediately spat it out. The message from Kotonoha really caught her off guard.

Doujin Artist: W-Wait... Kotonoha-chan?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Miss Katsura, are you back to your real self again?

Amegakure Village’s Angel: Something definitely happened.

Machete Girl: Ehehe~ I cut a few people. Feeling great now. Anran-san, you don’t think I’m being unladylike, do you?

Nighttime, mountain village.

A long-haired girl stood in the moonlight, holding a bloodstained blade. A satisfied smile played on her lips. Around her lay broken bodies and scattered organs.

The scene was terrifying — like a witch from hell had descended upon the earth.

Not far away, Kazuko and the others cowered in a corner, shaking in fear as they stared at her.

Curly-haired Guy: ”Unladylike”? Come on, I’ve never heard of a proper lady going around slicing people up.

Machete Girl: I wasn’t asking for your opinion, you pervy curly-head.

Curly-haired Guy: What the hell, so curly-haired people don’t get rights now?

Machete Girl: Anran-san, Anran-san, why aren’t you saying anything? I wanna give you a kiss~

This is an Actor: Miss, please don’t. I’m still young.

Machete Girl: Ehehe~ That’s what makes it better! Big sis will teach you everything step by step. Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle~

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Pfft!

Doujin Artist: I take back what I said earlier! Kotonoha-chan isn’t acting drunk—she’s clearly high as hell!
