Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Shocking Elimination

Doujin Artist: Holy crap!

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: No way, he was fine just a second ago!

Wig Guy: What kind of move was that?

This is an Actor: Probably some kind of special spell. That black skull didn’t look like a real object.

Curly-haired Guy: Wait a second, why are there onmyoji in Kotonoha-chan’s world? That’s way too much for a slice-of-life setting!

This is an Actor: If it really were a normal world, sure. But can you be 100% sure *School Days* is just a normal slice-of-life world?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Huh?

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Isn’t it?

This is an Actor: Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. What we see in *School Days* is just a small part of the world the author chose to show. The story never goes beyond the school, so who’s to say there aren’t onmyoji outside of it?

Amegakure Village’s Angel: I get it now. What we see in *School Days* is still just fragmented info. Doesn’t mean the whole world is slice-of-life.

This is an Actor: Exactly. You’re at middle school level now, Konan-senpai.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: If *School Days* isn’t purely slice-of-life, then does that mean Kotonoha’s side of the government already knew about the intruders?

Shark-Faced Guy: Probably. That much is pretty clear from how the onmyoji were talking.

Doujin Artist: Tch, those guys are all the same kind of shady.

Soul Society’s Troublemaker: Is Kotonoha-chan okay? Need backup?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: What’s wrong with Kotonoha? Why isn’t she replying?

Curly-haired Guy: Don’t tell me she’s in shock?

On screen.

Kotonoha stood frozen, staring at the puddle of blood on the ground, as if her mind had shut down.

”How... how could this happen? Why did this happen? Hojo-kun, he...”

”The info was wrong! This monster is definitely not a C-rank!”

”We’re not equipped to handle this—retreat!”

Across from Kotonoha, the onmyoji were all showing signs of panic.

”But... there’s a civilian!” The white-haired girl looked at the dazed Kotonoha with a worried face. ”We can’t just leave her behind!”

”Then stay here and die with her!” the blond guy shouted angrily, turning and running without a second thought. The purple-haired girl hesitated for a second, then quickly followed.

Boom, boom.

But just as their feet touched the ground, the demon’s thick arm swung again—both of them were instantly reduced to blood and gore.

”Yuko! Kigo!” the white-haired girl’s eyes went wide, filled with fear. Then, as if sensing something, she stiffly turned her head.

The demon’s hollow eyes were staring straight at her. Its raised arm came down again.

A flash of black light.

The white-haired girl’s pupils shrank as a skull made of dark mist came straight at her.

Whoosh.

Suddenly, a blade of light flashed by.

To her surprise, the black skull was split in two—then turned into a wisp of black smoke and disappeared into the air.

Whew.

With her long black hair flying and a katana in hand, the girl in Sakaki Academy’s uniform stepped in front of her.

”You...”

The white-haired girl, who had just narrowly escaped death, let out a heavy breath and was about to say something when the girl in front of her said, ”Stay back, unless you want to die.”

Her voice was low, but the white-haired girl could hear a hint of amusement in it. What was she so happy about?

”Hehehe, this is getting fun.” Kotonoha Katsura stared straight at the spinning demon, a faint smile curling on her lips. ”You look like you can take a good beating.”

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: ?

Doujin Artist: Kotonoha-chan?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Miss Katsura, are you okay?

”I’m fine—better than ever.” Kotonoha didn’t reply in text, but spoke directly to the livestream camera. ”Actually, I’ve never felt this good in my life.”

Buzz.

The spinning demon raised its arm again after failing to hit its target. This time, its attention locked onto Kotonoha.

Black mist gathered around its arm made of human corpses. But before the black skull shape could form, Kotonoha suddenly vanished.

Squelch.

A flash of silver light cut through the air. A thick arm flew off and spun through the air.

Boom.

The arm hit the ground and the tightly packed corpses instantly fell apart. The black mist began to fade from their surface.

ROAR!

The spinning demon let out a scream that sounded like hundreds of humans crying out in their last moments.

”Oh, what a beautiful sound.” Kotonoha licked her lips and grinned. ”Makes me want to—” Before she could finish, her body disappeared again.

Squelch.

Another arm was cut off, and thick black blood splattered everywhere.

”I kinda want to hear it a few more times.” As her feet landed back on the ground, Kotonoha flicked the blood off her blade.

Curly-haired Guy: She’s awakened, right? Kotonoha-chan’s totally awakened now!

Doujin Artist: Holy crap, it’s like she turned into a whole new person! From shy girl to sadist queen!

Pretty Boy from Skull Island: What’s a queen?

Amegakure Village’s Angel: A woman who stands above everyone else—that’s a queen.

This is an Actor: Those splashes of onmyoji blood were like a switch... kind of interesting.

”Hehehe, Anran-san thinks it’s interesting too?” Kotonoha looked straight at the screen, cheeks flushed. ”Hearing praise from someone I like... that makes me really happy.”

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Someone you like?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Pfft! I can’t believe Miss Katsura just said that out loud!

Doujin Artist: What the hell, did she drink something weird?! Kotonoha-chan, snap out of it! If you don’t, I’m recording all this and you’re gonna die of embarrassment later!

”Ara~ I’m totally clearheaded right now.” Kotonoha spun the blade in her hand and swung it at the demon’s head again.

Slice.

The giant head split cleanly down the middle. The black and red core inside shattered instantly.

Splat.

The human corpses that made up the Revolving Demon’s body dropped from the air like dumplings, piling up all over the street.

[Notice: Machete Girl has killed a Yellow-ranked invader and earned 1200 points.]

Stunned.

The white-haired girl’s eyes widened. She froze completely. A monster way stronger than a typical C-rank had just been taken down that easily by... a high school girl?

Am I dreaming or something...?
