THE GOD EATER

All in all, he will need around 2,000,000 energy stones. The bulk of this will be caused by the cost of the Living Material. The second most expensive thing will be the cost of renting the forge and the energy stones consumed during the process of using the forge.

This means that in the next month, the Viking Blade Society will lose 2,000,000 stones. This thought brought a smile to his face.

When he was done reviewing his gambling records, he stood up and said with excitement, “No matter how rich they are, they will feel this loss.”

Then he went to change his clothes.

What he changed into was a large cloak with a hood that could be used to cover his head. He also got a mask to wear.

He is doing this to hide his identity. After all, if what he wants actually happens and the Rein Family becomes angry because they lost a lot of money, he would like it if they don’t take their anger out on him.

He has already pissed them off when he tried to kill Simon, and there is still retribution for that coming in about two months. He doesn’t want them to decide to speed up their retribution plan, so he thought that it was a good idea to hide the identity of the person who made them lose so much money.

After he was sure that it would be very difficult to physically identify him, he left his place to go gambling. He didn’t take anything other than his sect token with him.

He didn’t take energy stones either. What he will use to bet will be the 5,000 contribution points that he earned as his reward for winning the competition. This is what he intends to use to acquire 2,000,000 contribution points.

He will need to multiply the 5,000 contribution points by a total of 400 times for him to get the 2 million that he needs. This will be very difficult to achieve in one match. But it is something he can achieve in less than 6 matches, even if each match has as few as 3 odds.

To someone else, turning 5,000 into 2 million will be a fairy tale. But for someone like him, what will be a fairy tale is how to earn more than 2 million with 5,000 and get away with it without being killed for his insolence.

He had this thought and a sheepish grin on his face as he left his apartment. Not even the sight of Jim stalking him could sour his mood.

He did give what Jim was doing a brief thought, though. He made a mental note, saying, “One of these days, I should have a meeting with this guy and ask him why he is stalking me.”

Then he ignored Jim and went on a gambling spree.

He called it a spree, but to the Rein Family and Viking Blade Society, that month was a month of a painful losing streak. No one could sit still after losing 10 million energy stones. The loss was so bad that someone quickly went to inform Skarg, the head of the family.

Skarg was standing on top of the headquarters of the Viking Blade society while the wind ruffled his hair. This is what he usually does when he needs space to think.

His position grants him an overhead view of the city and its busy denizens. He likes to watch them go about their day like ants in an ant farm.

The thought that most of them are slaves serving different masters usually soothes his inner turmoil. But today, things were different. The news he just received has made it so that he doesn’t need his usual ritual to be in a good mood.

His three sons were standing behind him, either listening, speaking, or waiting for his instructions.

Serge, his eldest son, was the one who was speaking. He said to Skarg, “It is going to be very difficult to find the person because they wore a cloak to hide their identity, but I’ll try my best.”

Skarg smiled and said, “You must find them. The fact that they could win so frequently without losing even once and win so much either means that they are incredibly lucky, or that they are cultivators of the Luck Pathway, or that they have a special way to know what the winning outcome of a game of chance is. Whichever is the case, I must subdue and control them.”

His eyes became full of anticipation as he said, “Who knows? This might be the lucky break I need to gain control of the city. So a lot is counting on this.”

As Skarg spoke, it became more and more clear that he wasn’t angry about the loss of 10 million energy stones. The opposite is actually the truth. He was happy to hear that someone was able to win so spectacularly.

This was why he didn’t need to spend much time up here to get his good mood. The news of the lucky gambler was enough to quickly put him in a good mood.”

His anticipation for capturing that lucky person also spread to Serge, who immediately said, “You can count on me, Father. I’ll do everything to find him. If I can’t find him, then I will pay the sect to disclose the identity of the person who made the transactions at our gambling houses.”

“As long as we have the transaction records, we will be able to find them. It will just be expensive.”

Skarg nodded in satisfaction and said, “Good, good. Do whatever you can and pay however much it will cost to find them. I am sure that when we find and enslave that person, we will be able to recoup our loss.”

Then his eyes glinted with sharpness as he said, “If they think they can take my money and treat me like their bank account, then they have another thing coming. What they’ve taken is my bait, not the loot that they think they have.”
