THE GOD EATER

Then he thought of something important. It was so important that he raised another finger for it.

As he raised this third finger, he said, “I also need to upgrade all my Metacs to rank 3. This, too, will cost a lot of money.”

After making a summary of what he needed to do, he grinned and said, “I need money and a lot of it. This means that I have to be busy for the next few days. What a hassle.”

He said that it was a hassle, but he said this with a grin on his face, so no one who sees him like this will believe that it is really a hassle for him to earn money.

He doesn’t think it is a hassle either. After all, what he needs to do is take out his gambling dossier, memorize its contents, and then go to a gambling house.

Gambling is not exactly exciting to him since he always wins. But he is excited to gamble this time around because one of the gambling houses he plans to go to belongs to the Viking Blade Society.

The Viking Blade Society runs a fighting ring in the city. Cultivators fight each other for money, and sometimes, they fight to the death.

People can spectate the matches, or if they want more excitement, they can gamble on the outcome of the matches. Since he already knows who will win in some high-profile fights, he has the perfect opportunity to make the Viking Blade Society lose a lot of money.

This is why he was grinning at the prospect of gambling. Gambling when knowing the outcome might not be exciting, but making an enemy lose a lot of money is always a pleasurable experience.

So it was with great anticipation that he took out the gambling dossier and began going through it. As he did so, he chuckled and said, “The following month is not going to be good for the Viking Blade Society.”

He was sure of this because he needed a lot of money, and he planned to earn far more than he needed.

First of all, he needs money to buy the rank 3 Slave. In general, rank 3 cultivators are valued from 30,000 energy stones to 100,000 energy stones.

His only requirement for the rank 3 slave is for them to be on the Forging Pathway. This is because he wants their Core Metac to align with the route of Life Ability that he is aiming for.

He doesn’t care for their cultivation, soul strength, willpower, mental strength, or physical strength. All he cares about is which pathway they belong to.

His lax requirements mean that the slave he wants should be on the cheaper end of the spectrum. Unfortunately, Forgers are one of the most expensive types of slaves. This is because Forgers are skilled and can make more money by forging artifacts and weapons.

Another factor that he has to take into consideration is that the price of 30,000 energy stones to 100,000 energy stones is what he has to pay the sect for killing the person. He still has to pay the same master or the person selling the slave, and odds are that the price that the slave master will ask for won’t be low.

In general, if he is lucky, he won’t have to spend 100,000 energy stones on both the sect and the slave master. That already is a lot of money.

At any other time, he won’t care about paying the sect for the value of the person because he can reverse time and forget about the debt. But things are different this time around because he needs to become an inner sect disciple.

He needs to become an inner sect disciple because he wants to gain access to the public trading platform and use it to get the rare material that he has his mind on. That rare material is called Living Metal.

Living Metac is said to be a rank 4 Material. It is a material that can heal damage to itself and grow stronger. This makes it very valuable and very expensive. It can cost up to 1,000,000 energy stones for 1kg.

Ever since he heard about the material and went around asking about it, he has never found or seen the material. He was told that it never appeared in the city.

Even if Living Metal appeared in the city, it would be scooped up by the more powerful people in the city. So the only way for him to get it is to gain access to the market of the whole sect and use the connections of the sect to acquire it.

Since the sect won’t let him become an inner disciple as long as he still owes them money, he has to pay them for the debt.

So the rank 3 slave and the rank 4 Living Metal material will cost him 1.1 million energy stones. Unfortunately for the Viking Blade Society, this isn’t all that he needs for his plans.

He will need money to rent a forging furnace to forge the material. At the very least, the furnace will need to be capable of forging rank 3 materials. This is acceptable because the Living Metal material is easy to forge. Even then, it will cost a lot of money to rent a rank 3 furnace.

Then he will need to raise the strength of his body to rank 3 and upgrade all of his Metacs to rank 3 so that he will have the power needed to forge the Living Metal material. After all, strength is a very important factor for forging.

The rank 3 Metac that he needs to forge his body will cost 10,000 energy stones alone. But the materials that he will need to refine his body with will also cost money.

His other Metacs will cost from 2,500 energy stones to 10,000 energy stones. So he will be spending between 25,000 and 100,000 energy stones on them.
