THE GOD EATER

Chapter 74: Rank 2.

The debit notification confirmed Jim’s demise, but it also made Loki curl his lips and say, ”Just 15,000? I thought rank 2 cultivators cost 30,000 energy stones. In that case, this Jim must not be highly valued by the sect. Fortunately, he has met me. I highly value him.”

The maximum value of the life of a rank 1 cultivator is 10,000 energy stones or contribution points. That of a rank 2 cultivator is supposed to be 30,000 energy stones.

So the fact that the sect is only asking for 15,000 contribution points for Jim can only mean that he is week and poor for a rank 2 cultivator. Loki didn’t find this surprising.

The sect immediately removed the 15,000 that he owes them for Jim’s life. Because he only had 4,000 energy stones in his account after the sect removed the 1,000 energy stones monthly payment on his loans, his account quickly reached a balance of -11,000.

For now, there is no problem with this. But if in one month, he can’t pay off the 1,000 energy stones he needs to pay to service his awakening debt, the sect will come after him for their money and they will be willing to use drastic actions, including slavery to force him to pay his debt.

But Loki wasn’t worried about that. The only thing he had on his mind currently was how fast it would take him to extract Jim’s Core Metac.

Jim’s Core Metac is the Telekinesis Metac. As a rank 2 cultivator, his Core Metac has begun to fuse with him by creating energy filaments and threads throughout his body. This has made it difficult for Fenrir to extract the Core Metac from Jim’s corpse.

At the end of the day, it took 4 minutes and 32 seconds for Loki to extract the rank 2 Telepathy Metac. This was a far cry from the maximum of 10 seconds that it took him to extract rank 1 Core Metacs. It is 27 times slower.

Loki found this interesting because Jim’s potential was exactly 27 units. He had sensed it when he used the Power Identification Ability on Jim the first time that he met him a month ago.

Race: Human.

Energy Quantity: 27.

Energy Density: 5.

Energy Rank: 2.

Body: 0.5.

Soul: 1

Metac: Telepathy.

This made Loki say, ”So, it is just like they said. Potential directly affects how well the Metac fuses with the host.”

”I have to increase my potential as soon as possible after this. For now, I’ll advance.”

He has been looking forward to advancing for a long time, and so has Fenrir. So Fenrir’s tail pounced onto the sealed and extracted Metac as soon as it entered Loki’s energy well.

The black tail devoured the rank 2 Telepathy Metac, which made it fuse with the rank 1 Telepathy Metac that Loki already possessed. The result was that Loki advanced to rank 2 immediately.

Loki expected to advance as soon as he acquired the rank 2 Core Metac. But what he didn’t expect was that Fenrir itself was what advanced, not just the Telepathy Metac in his possession.

Because it was the Fenrir Metac that advanced, all four of his energy chambers also advanced. Then Fenrir began fusing with Loki just like the Core Metac of cultivators fuses with them after it reaches rank 2.

Fenrir fused with his energy well and slowly replaced it. This made him lose his main energy chamber.

So, now he only has 4 energy chambers within it. Apparently, this is the price to pay for his advancement.

Then Fenrir began to grow energy threads that branched out of it into his whole body. This is the next stage of the advancement.

He should have produced only 77 energy threads with his energy well. But then the pressure of the other three energy chambers kicked in and led to the propagation of more energy threads than what was normal.

At the end of the day, he was able to produce 308 threads. This is 4 times as many energy threads as he should have been able to make. It is the benefit of sacrificing his main energy well and letting Fenrir replace it.

From what he has discovered, from canvassing the city for information, he learned that the energy threads will make energy recovery much faster than it was. Because he has 308 energy threads, his energy recovery, either by natural recovery or the use of energy stones, will now be 308% times faster.

The increase in recovery rate will also make his cultivation speed faster. But the most important enhancement of the energy threads is the ability to overload Metacs with internal energy and make them produce power that is beyond their natural limit.

He savored all of these changes while sitting on the ground and reading his gambling book. The advancement is not instantaneous, so he has time to read.

In the gambling book, there are columns for date, location, time, and bet. There are also more than ten entries.

He only wrote down the most memorable successful bets that he had witnessed in gambling houses. This is to make it easy for him to remember them and make it easier for him to win a lot of money really quickly.

After all of the energy threads were fully grown, his internal energy had also finished its transformation. Not only has the power of his internal energy increased, but he can also continue to refine it to increase its density and pack in more energy into it.

His energy chamber could only allow the density of his internal energy to reach level 4, which contains 8 times as much energy as a level 1 density. This is because each increase in energy density doubles the amount of energy that can be contained.

Now that he can improve his energy density to level 8, he can pack as much as 128 times as much energy into each of his energy chambers compared to when he just awakened with an energy density of level 1.
