THE GOD EATER

Chapter 54: Asskisser.

The case of the attempted murder on Loki’s life was an open and shut case. But Muni felt conflicted about the whole matter.

He felt conflicted because he didn’t know what to do. On the one hand, he wanted to get the two slaves and auction them for money. But on the other hand, he didn’t want to offend Slav.

So it wasn’t that he didn’t know what should be done. It was that he didn’t want to do what ought to be done if it will offend Slav.

After ruminating on the problem for a while, he decided to back down a little, so he said to Slav, ”According to the law, these two should be punished severely. But if your family is willing to intercede for them, or you convince Loki to drop the charges and say that everything was a misunderstanding, they won’t need to be punished.”

If they had succeeded in killing Loki, Slav would have given up on them. But now that they had failed, Slav had even fewer reasons to ask his father to save them. After all, they are useless slaves.

As for the option of convincing Loki to say that the whole thing was a misunderstanding, that was even less possible to achieve than asking his father to step in. Even it were possible to convince Loki, he didn’t want to be at Loki’s mercy. His pride wouldn’t allow it.

So he said to Muni, ”Forget. Those who break the rules should be punished.”

After saying this, he turned away immediately. He didn’t look back, no matter how the two useless fools cried out to him to save them.

Muni grinned at the two of them and quickly bound them up. Then he dragged them away like pigs to the slaughter.

Loki watched all of these happen with immense satisfaction. He would have been more satisfied if Muni had delivered due justice instead of asking for Slav’s opinion. But beggars can’t be choosers, so he couldn’t complain.

Besides, he might need Muni’s help to continue to survive until the end of the initiation program. So he didn’t say anything to offend Muni, even though he wanted to call Muni a bootlicker and ass kisser.

After Muni disappeared from his sight with the two unfortunate slaves, Loki swaggered back to his house with his arms behind his back like a carefree immortal.

As for Slav, he left the sect grounds to go and report the situation to his brothers. He has also given up on going after Loki himself and wants them to intervene. He has given up on the idea of killing Loki or subduing him alone because of the loss of his two slaves.

As bad as he looks down on them and as bad as he speaks down on them, the four slaves aren’t actually useless. If they were useless, people wouldn’t be scrambling to buy their body parts at auctions.

Cultivators are rare in the Blessed Heaven World because only the sects can produce them, and there are just five sects in the entire world. Each of these five sects only produces a few cultivators every year.

Take the Four Directions Sect, for example, they can only produce a little more than 30 cultivators in one year, in a single city. That means, by possessing four of those 30 cultivators, he was in control of 13.3% of the total cultivator output of the city for this year.

No matter how weak his four slaves had been or how bad their future potential is, the fact remains that it is impossible for him to produce cultivators on his own, so the ones he has in his possession should be treated with care.

Now that he has lost two of them, he doesn’t dare to gamble the remaining two just to kill one Loki. In fact, the lives of two slaves are already too much of a price to pay for one Loki. But he has already paid that heavy price and gotten nothing for it.

So he doesn’t dare to pay more to get Loki. He can only rely on his elder brothers to jump in and take charge of the situation.

Unfortunately, his elder brothers thought that it was inefficient for them to act against Loki now. They decided to wait for him to leave the sect grounds before they acted against him.

After all, there are only a few days left before the initiation ends. They can be patient and wait for these few days so that they will gain unbridled access to Loki.

Their decision meant that Loki would be at peace for the next couple of days, and no one would make an attempt on his life. But Loki didn’t know this, so he was still very much on guard against attacks.

Loki spent his days refining his Dao Heart while he remained alert and watchful for attacks. His plan is to become the boy who cried wolf as soon as he sees the slightest hint of an attack on his person.

As soon as someone attacks him, he plans to rush out and scream at the top of his lungs. He doesn’t plan to fight back in self-defense at all. That way, no one will be able to turn the truth on its head and accuse him of being the initiator of murder when he is just the victim.

Since he can’t win by fighting, he just won’t fight. Thanks to his strong body, he is sure that his enemies won’t be able to kill him in a short amount of time. He will then use that short amount of time to make a scene.

In fact, any injury that he sustains in that short amount of time will make his story more believable. That way, Muni will have no choice but to seek justice for him.

He sat in his room waiting for someone to come for his head day and night. The experience of waiting for an attack to come at any time was unpleasant, to say the least.
