THE GOD EATER

Chapter 49: Rank 2 Metacs.

It cost him 1,500 energy stones to purchase, which is 50% more expensive than usual. This is because the Copper Body Metac is a rare Metac that adds permanent power to cultivators, which they can use without internal energy.

All he will need to use this Branch Metac is a lot of internal energy and a lot of copper. The Copper Body Metac needs the internal energy to work, and it will need the copper to transform its body.

The total amount of copper that he will need to upgrade his body to the peak of rank 1 will cost a maximum of 500 energy stones. It might even cost less than this since his body is already above average at 0.6 units.

This amount of money isn’t worth mentioning to him at all. Even if it cost 5,000 energy stones, he would be able to afford it.

So it will cost him 2,000 energy stones to strengthen his body. As expensive as this is, it will be worth it because the metallic body will increase his survivability.

He didn’t care much for the strength of the body because he could always increase it with a Branch Metac, like the Body Lever Metac. He has a lot of internal energy and rarely fights, so he didn’t consider the energy expenditure of the Body Lever Metac to be significant.

But now that he is preparing to be pursued endlessly by people who want to kill him, any little bit of energy that he can use for other things has become very important.

There is also the fact that he can always use the Body Lever Metac to increase the strength of his body. And with his improved body, the explosion that killed him in his previous lifespan won’t be able to kill him so easily.

All in all, if he wants to increase his chances of survival and stop dying so much, it is a good idea to increase the strength of his body now, while he has the chance to spend money to increase his power. Since he is increasing the strength of his body, he decided to increase the strength of his mind too.

With the current strength of his mind, he can produce a mental attack capable of taking down the mind of a rank 2 cultivator with a mind of 2 units and a Dao Heart of level 3. Such a cultivator will have an innate mental resistance of 2(Cultivation) × 2(Mind) × 3(Dao Heart), which is 12 units.

He can produce 13 units of mental attack, and this will be enough to injure the mind of the rank 2 cultivator with an innate resistance of 12 units, the damage won’t be as pronounced as the one he was able to do to the lackey that was sent to kill him.

So he won’t be able to gain as much advantage against a rank 2 cultivator, and he definitely won’t be able to harm the mind of a rank 3 cultivator like Muni. Since he expects the Rein Family to be shameless and send rank 2 beings after him, he decided to up the ante against them.

The kind of power he has as a rank 1 being is impressive. After all, he can already tussle with the best minds at rank 2. But this also means that it will take a lot more to increase the power of his mental attack at rank 1. Especially since the power of his mind is already 60% above what he should possess at his rank.

If he wants to increase the power of his mind, now, he can only rely on a rank 2 Metac. A rank 1 Metac can only increase his power to the limit of 1 unit, while a rank 2 Metac can reach 2 units.

There is no restriction on the rank of Metac that can be used, so he can use a rank 2 Metac despite being at rank 2. The reason other rank 1 cultivators don’t entertain the fancy thought of using rank 2 Metacs is that they are expensive to purchase and also highly expensive to use in terms of internal energy.

The energy expenditure of rank 2 Metacs can be up to 5 times or even 10 times compared to their rank 1 counterparts. So any rank 1 cultivator who dares to use rank 2 Metacs will only be barely able to use it before they run out of internal energy.

But as someone with five energy chambers, he can dare to use rank 2 Metacs. And since the rank 2 Metacs he wants to use are Branch Metacs that will permanently increase the power of his mind and the power of his body, their energy expenditure won’t matter when he is in a fight.

He can sustain all the energy costs right now that he has some leisure time. And if his internal energy won’t be enough, he still has the opportunity to use energy stones to make up for it. This will help prepare him for the time he has to fight for his life while being on the run.

The Metac of choice for increasing the strength of his mind was the Broad Mind Metac. It is a Branch Metac that doubles the power of the mind in relation to the power of the soul by inflating it a little bit.

As usual, he needs a lot of internal energy to use it and some materials to transform his mind permanently. The material he needs is the flesh of jellyfish.

When he wanted to buy it, he learned that the Broad Mind Metac can only increase the power of the mind to the limit of the rank that the mind already is. That means that a mind between the range of 0.1 to 1 units can only be raised to 1 unit, a mind between the range of 1.1 to 2 units can only be raised to 2 units, and a mind between the range of 2.1 to 3 units can only be raised to 3 units.
