THE GOD EATER

Chapter 6: Special Advantage.

The young man snorted and said to himself, ”No wonder he was able to escape from the slave shackles. His mind was too strong to bind him.”

Then his eyes glinted with murderous intent as he said, ”It is all the more reason to kill him. I’ll do it as soon as I get the chance.”

He didn’t actually need more reasons to kill Loki. The fact that Loki escaped, dared to yearn for freedom, and embarrassed his Rein Family is all that he needs to kill Loki. But more reasons to kill, especially the fact that the slave who escaped was too talented to be a slave, are always welcomed.

Loki didn’t know exactly what Slav was thinking, but he could guess it when he saw the way that Slav was staring at him. There was literal murder in Slav’s eyes, and he would have died if Slav’s eyes could kill, so he was able to guess what Slav could be thinking about.

But instead of being afraid, Loki felt indignant. He felt like cursing and saying, ”You lucky bastard. If you weren’t so lucky, I would have killed you already. It is because of your unnatural luck that you have the chance to be cocky with me.”

But he didn’t say this. He kept his complaint to himself and bottled up his indignation as fuel to be used to cultivate.

However, what Muni had said about his talent made him begin to pay attention to the situation of the other people. He wanted to see if Muni was right and also wanted to identify the most serious threats among the group.

After paying attention for a while, he noticed that he was able to make the whirlpool in his energy well spin much faster while others were complaining about how they were struggling to move the life energy within them.

If Muni hadn’t pointed out that he was more talented than others, he would have thought that the others were just being lazy because it was too easy for him to spin his life energy into a fast whirlpool.

After Muni pointed out the difference between them, he realized that the fact that it was easy for him to do didn’t mean that it should be easy for everyone else to do.

So he began tracking the performance of everyone and comparing them to the information about their power that he gleaned from the Power Identification Ability to see why they were performing better than others.

What he noticed was that those with higher souls were able to focus longer and didn’t complain as much about headaches or slow spinning speed. Since Muni allowed them to ask questions, he decided to clear his doubts by getting more accurate information.

So he raised his hands to signify that he had a question. When he was prompted to speak, he said, ”What exactly makes one focus better? Is it the power of the soul or the power of the body?”

Muni replied, ”It is actually the power of the mind. For now, there is no difference between the power of the mind and the power of the soul for you, so you can also say that the stronger one’s soul is, the easier it will be for them to focus.”

”Another important factor is the power of one’s will. The higher the willpower of your mind, the easier it will be for you to control your life energy and the faster you will be able to spin it.”

”The power of one’s will is also important for other things, such as controlling Metacs. But we will talk about that later. Probably in your fourth week here.”

”For now, what you should know is that entities like you at rank 1 have a body, soul, and mind that range from 0.1 to 1 units in power. The average value and what most people have is 0.5. So I guess the power of the soul is above average.”

”As for the power of your will, I can’t say for now. It all depends on your life experiences up to this point and the strength of your determination. It can be greater than 1 and should, in fact, be greater than 1 since you’re cultivators now and have come into contact with your life energy.”

”But not to worry. We will find out what it is when I test the will of all of you later on in the initiation program.”

Loki thanked him for the answer and tried not to let slip anything from his expression. He was struggling to keep a straight face because he was heavily impacted by what Muni had said.

As he sat down, he thought to himself, ”I am definitely abnormal.”

He quickly used the Power Identification Ability on himself to confirm. What he saw made him widen his eyes in surprise.

Age: 19/77

Race: Human

Energy Quantity: 77 × 3 = 231

Energy Density: 1.

Energy Rank: 1.

Body: 0.6.

Soul: 1.5

Will: 4.

Skill: 10%.

Fenrir (Divine): Power Identification. Tracking. Seal. Devouring. Rewind. Sword Heart.

According to what Muni had said, his body is slightly above average. This wasn’t surprising to him, considering all the hard work he had grown up doing as a slave.

What would have been surprising would be if he had survived all the hard work and fighting with a body that was weaker than average. So his body was normal.

What was abnormal was the strength of his mind and his willpower. Apparently, his soul is 50% stronger than the limit of normal people at rank 1, while his willpower is three levels higher than that of a non-cultivator.

He can easily confirm this by using the Power Identification Ability on the people around him. Through the Power Identification Ability, he saw that the soul of everyone was between 0.3 and 0.9.

Even Slav, the most talented one with an Innate potential of 95 units, only has a soul with a power of 0.9 units. So his situation with a soul power of 1.5 units is definitely abnormal.
