Chapter 689 Momentum Growth

Kyle looked at his perfectly functional and efficient Center with a smile.

ʼLook at how clean this guy is!ʼ as he slapped his abs.

He felt the Energy coursing through his body with vigor, and he also felt how densely filled his Center was.

ʼWho wouldʼve thought that my Center could hold so much Energy? Itʼs crazy!ʼ

What was the effect of the Law of Center?

Well, the Law of Body increased oneʼs physical power a lot.

The Law of Soul increased oneʼs perception and infusion abilities a lot.

Naturally, the Law of Center increased oneʼs Energy storage a lot.

In fact, Kyle had almost twice as much Energy in his Center as before, essentially doubling his power when it came to using his Elemental attacks.

Of course, he could also transform it into Biological Energy, but that wouldnʼt double his physical power.

His physical power increased a bit, but not by a lot. More important was that he could generate more Biological Energy, which translated into…

ʼI can lose more arms and legs now!ʼ

Naturally, the recovery rate of his Energy also increased, but it was more of a 20% than a 100% increase.

ʼIf I were a technique or Spell kinda guy, I would be super happy right now. Sadly, Iʼm a hammer-guy. I smash shit.ʼ

ʼStill, my power increased, and a better Center will help me with understanding Laws better. While Laws are not that important right now, they will become super important again. In the future, I will be happy that I went through this.ʼ

Next, Kyle took out his Communicator and checked the date.

ʼStill about 60 years until my next shift starts.ʼ

Then, he checked his tenth Cluster.

ʼAbout 20 more years on that.ʼ

ʼI canʼt start with my eleventh Cluster right now since I need like 500 years to unlock this thing. Speaking of, how could I even do that? I have to earn a living! Does the Array of Stars expect its Disciples to unlock the eleventh Cluster while still going to work?ʼ

Kyle took out his Communicator.

ʼIʼm calling in sick,ʼ he joked in his mind.

He searched for more information about the eleventh Cluster and quickly found something.

ʼOh! I get 500 years off for that?ʼ he thought in excitement.

Kyle also found an attached contact on the article about the eleventh Cluster, and he quickly wrote a message.

”Hey, my tenth Cluster will be done in twenty years. In 60 years, I have a shift as a Rarity Hunter, and afterwards, I will be an Exchange Seeker. I need some time for my eleventh Cluster. Can I have some time off after my next shift as Rarity Hunter?”

Kyle waited for a couple of minutes for an answer.

”Someone will contact you shortly.”

Kyleʼs brows rose when he saw the answer.

ʼI thought that was your job,ʼ he thought.

But then, someone appeared in front of him.

It was the same guy who told Kyle about Legendary Transcendents.

The Chief Overseer.

”Meteor Hammer,” the Chief Overseer greeted Kyle with a serious expression.

”Chief Overseer… I think,” Kyle answered.

”Yes, I am the Chief Overseer,” he said. ”Do you have some time to talk?”

Kyle raised one of his brows.

ʼThatʼs unusual. This guy is usually so busy. Every time we talked before, he essentially ended the conversation as quickly as possible. Now, heʼs suddenly asking if I have time?ʼ

”Sure,” Kyle answered.

The next moment, a table and two chairs appeared in Kyleʼs home gym, and the Chief Overseer sat down while motioning for Kyle to also sit down.

Kyle slowly sat down, and as he did so, he became a bit nervous.

This seemed serious.

Would he get fired?

Did they think he scammed them or something?

”Meteor Hammer,” the Chief Overseer slowly said. ”You said your tenth Cluster will unlock in about twenty years, correct?”

Kyle nodded.

”You have created a Level 3.5 Complex Law as a Transcendent. Is that also correct?” the Chief Overseer asked.

”Yep,” Kyle said.

”Please, demonstrate your Momentum,” the Chief Overseer said.

”Eh, sure,” Kyle said.

The next moment, Kyleʼs eyes narrowed, and the world around him turned colorless and dark.

The atmosphere in the room became tense and oppressive, but the Chief Overseer seemed like he didnʼt notice.

After some seconds, Kyle deactivated his Momentum again.

Naturally, after Kyleʼs near-death experience during his first alert as a Rarity Hunter, his Momentum had shot through the roof.

The first True Battle after advancement was always the most effective one.

Of course, this didnʼt mean that having a bad first True Battle after an advancement would severely hamper oneʼs future Momentum development.

It was just that the first one was essentially without suppressions.

Assuming someone had 100 Momentum Points after advancing, and the theoretical maximum for the next Realm was 400.

A good first True Battle would grant 200 Momentum Points at an efficiency of 100%, which would mean someone would have 300 Momentum Points after the battle. A bad first True Battle might give something like 50 points, moving the total to 150 points.

Someone with a good first True Battle would have a much more powerful Momentum than someone who had gone through a bad one.

However, when the next True Battle came, things would be different.

At that point, the level of the personʼs Momentum would receive a suppression factor based on how much current Momentum they had when compared to the theoretical max for the Realm.

Assuming both parties went through a second True Battle that gave 100 points.

The first person would only receive about 30 points due to the suppression factor, pushing their total to 330 Momentum Points.

The other person would receive about 90 Momentum Points, pushing their total to 240.

Then, the third battle would take the new base again.

If there were another battle with 100 Momentum Points, the first one would receive about 25 points, while the second one would get almost 60. This would put their points at 355 and 300.

It was important to note that the suppression factor didnʼt scale linearly. It was more like a slight curve.

Kyle had gone through a brutal first True Battle, which had shot his Momentum through the roof, but even if someone didnʼt go through a brutal first True Battle, they could still catch up.

As long as there were only multiplications, there was no difference in which order the numbers were placed. As long as the numbers were identical, the same result would happen.

It was just that the result would only be relevant as soon as someone advanced to the next Realm. Before then, people were simply at different parts of their multiplication equation, with some having multiplied the big numbers already, while others had multiplied the small ones first.

After Kyle had deactivated his Momentum, the Chief Overseer looked at him with furrowed brows.

”I have a proposition for you,” he said. ”If you accept, you will receive all the free time you want.”

”Oh?” Kyle asked. ”Sure, Iʼm listening.”

The Chief Overseer nodded.
