Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 477 Karmic Lines

Emperor Winterfire followed the origin of the storms and noticed that they were growing weaker the closer he got to the east.

ʼI see,ʼ he thought as he realized what was going on.

He continued to the east and reached the coast of the Twilight Duchy.

The wind was strong here, but it hadnʼt formed proper storms yet.

Emperor Winterfire did some calculations and focused on a specific spot in the sky.

Sadly, the spot where the origin of the storms should be was covered by some mountains due to the curvature of the planet.

The next moment, Emperor Winterfire took out an old emblem with a blue stone in the middle.

”Duchess of Twilight,” he spoke. ”I need to speak with you.”

”Speak,” the old emblem said.

”Someone in your domain is comprehending the Law of Wind, and their comprehension is causing devastation to my Empire. I will not stand in the way of your subject, but the effects need to be mitigated,” he said.

The emblem didnʼt answer immediately.

Emperor Winterfire couldnʼt see it, but invisible strings of Karma were moving at this moment.

Emperor Winterfire had countless purple lines of Karma stretching out of his body. The purple lines stretched all across the world.

These purple lines represented a karmic connection of responsibility.

All citizens of the Winterfire Empire were linked to Emperor Winterfire via Karma.

If the Empire caused them suffering, Emperor Winterfireʼs Karma would be lowered. If the Empire benefited them, Emperor Winterfireʼs Karma would be increased.

Every purple line of Karma was also accompanied by another line, which was either red or green.

Red meant that Emperor Winterfire was currently losing Karma due to the connected person.

Green meant that Emperor Winterfire was currently gaining Karma due to the connected person.

Over 90% of the lines were green, but there were also some red ones.

Many of these red ones led to the central landmass.

These soldiers were on the central landmass because Emperor Winterfire had commanded them to be there.

It wasnʼt reasonable for these people to refuse this order, which was why Emperor Winterfire had to carry some of the karmic weight.

Yet, when Emperor Winterfire had told the Duchess of Twilight that her subject was damaging his people, the lines changed.

The red lines leading from Emperor Winterfire to the central landmass disconnected from Emperor Winterfire and connected to the distant Duchess of Twilight. Emperor Winterfire had done everything he reasonably could by asking the Duchess of Twilight to stop the damage.

Now, the majority of the karmic weight would be hers to carry.

Emperor Winterfire couldnʼt see these lines, but he knew how Karma worked. That was why he had said what he said.

Karma was important to Transcendents, and damaging the Duchessʼ Karma was the best way to get her to stop these storms.

Yet, while Emperor Winterfire couldnʼt see the Karmic Lines, the Duchess of Twilight could.

At this moment, the Duchess of Twilight had countless purple and green lines coming out of her person. She had even more than Emperor Winterfire.

After all, she was the Overseer. Every single living thing in the entire world was her subject.

Over 99% of her lines were green.

Yet, there were five Karmic Lines that were hundreds of times thicker than the other lines, and these five were blood red.

After Emperor Winterfire spoke his words, a couple more red lines joined the already existing red lines.

Yet, they were line embers in front of the sun when compared to the five thick lines.

The Empress of Twilight looked at the new lines evenly.

They were barely consequential.

”Iʼve taken note of your plight,” she answered. ”My subject will be done comprehending in, at most, a couple of years. The storms will only grow stronger until then. I advise you to station a Transcendent on the east coast of the central landmass.”

Emperor Winterfireʼs brows furrowed, and a small light appeared in his eyes.

He knew that the Duchess of Twilightʼs Karma was lowering due to this incident, and he hadnʼt expected her to ignore it.

Didnʼt she care about her Karma?

”I will do just that,” Emperor Winterfire said. ”I wish your subject swift comprehension.”

The emblem deactivated, and Emperor Winterfire threw a glance at the Twilight Duchy.

Then, he returned and told the Imperial Advisor to guard the eastern coast.

They had dealt with their karmic responsibility.

90% of the negative Karma would fall on the Twilight Duchess.

The other 10% fell on Emperor Winterfire. After all, he could also just pull his people back. However, this land belonged to him, and he could send his people wherever he wanted, which was why the weight of the Karma wasnʼt 50/50.

They were damaging his land and his people.

Lastly, the Imperial Advisor actually received positive Karma since he was defending his people from danger.

High in the sky in the Twilight Duchy, Kyle looked at the winds he was creating with interest.

He didnʼt see it, but there were also several Karmic Lines leading to him.

However, all of them were grey.

He was a Mortal, and Mortals were not subject to Karma.

Kyle didnʼt know how much damage he was causing just by looking at the Fragment of Wind Expansion.

Emperor Winterfire knew that someone was comprehending this Fragment and how much damage it caused.

After all, the Second Advisor had a Water and Wind Affinity.

When she had still been alive, she had once tried to comprehend the Fragment of Wind Expansion. She wanted to use that Fragment together with her Law of Water to create a devastating Ice Storm Attack.

Sadly, her mistake had been trying to comprehend it while already being a Transcendent.

The storms she had created had caused havoc across the world, and she had noticed that her Karma had been dropping rapidly.

Because of that, she had been forced to stop.

The First Advisor and Emperor Winterfire had been too busy to deal with the Skysand Kingdom to deal with the fallout of the Second Advisorʼs comprehension.

If they had helped her, maybe the Second Advisor would still be alive.

Or not.

Butterfly effect and stuff.
