Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 198: 198 Giving you another chance

”This kid is really shrewd!”

Steward Nian secretly praised in his heart and heaved a sigh of relief because now, he no longer needed to struggle, and could act according to the Sect rules.

While Steward Nian did not witness Yun Xiao’s performance in the Outer Sect competition directly, he had heard about it, and he also knew of the young man’s interaction with the Great Elder Lu Zhan.

Yun Xiao’s words were half true, half false, and naturally, Steward Nian would not fully believe them, but at this moment, he indeed needed a way out as Yun Xiao had anticipated, by bringing the Great Elder into the picture, the matter now had nothing to do with him.

”Ahem!”

After Yun Xiao finished speaking, Steward Nian coughed dryly and glanced at Bi Luo next to him, pretending to ask: ”Whose points were spent on that item?”

On hearing this, Bi Luo’s expression darkened even more; right away, Yun Xiao interjected, ”Steward Nian, that item cost me a whole thousand points to acquire. It should belong to me now, right?”

”A thousand points? It really is that item!”

With Yun Xiao’s answer, Steward Nian no longer had doubts, and his curiosity intensified immensely. That black key had been in the Jade Pot Sect for many years and had never been exchanged, yet today, not one but two were interested in it.

A rusty black key, yet it required a thousand points to exchange - in Steward Nian’s view, no one would be so foolish, but it seemed that the key indeed has some unknown secrets that made these two vie fiercely for it.

However, these concerns were not something Steward Nian needed to ponder. Upon getting the answers he wanted, he turned to address someone else: ”Bi Luo, since Yun Xiao has spent the points, the item he got from the Mysterious Artifact Hall belongs to him, and you must not forcibly take it!”

With these words from Steward Nian, the drama was set. Within the entire Jade Pot Sect, except for Jade Pot Cave and the Arena Hall where fratricide was allowed, other places where Bi Luo dared to make a move would definitely backfire on him.

This was the iron rule of the Jade Pot Sect, passed down over centuries, and if Bi Luo dared to defy it, even his teacher, the Poison Vein Elder Fu Du of the Sect, could not protect him.

For instance, the night when Bi Luo wanted to cause trouble for Yun Xiao, he could only rely on the plan by Xuan Zhi, falsely accusing Yun Xiao of killing Guan Hu, claiming he was merely enforcing sect justice by taking action.

Without special reasons, fellow disciples are absolutely forbidden from crippling each other within the bounds of the Jade Pot Sect. Bi Luo must have also been aware of this rule, that’s why his face looked so unsightly.

”Nian Qiao, you have to think this through, my teacher is determined to have that item!”

By this time, Bi Luo knew that he couldn’t attack Yun Xiao, but still unwilling to give up, he attempted to exert the last bit of pressure using his teacher’s influence. This cold sentence even dropped the respectful title, directly calling Steward Nian’s name.

But Steward Nian Qiao, who already disliked Bi Luo, had his mind clear now. Hearing his reply: ”The Second Elder wants it, but so does the Great Elder. What can a mere Outer Sect Steward like me decide? Bi Luo, please tell the Second Elder if he really wants it, perhaps he should discuss it with the Great Elder?”

In Nian Qiao’s words, there was a touch of mockery, probably inspired by Yun Xiao’s bold claim, thinking that Bi Luo too, might be just bluffing.

Indeed, Bi Luo was just putting on a show, a tactic that had never failed him before, not just with Outer Sect Stewards but even against some powerful figures from great clans outside, often yielding surprising effects.

After all, the reputation of the Jade Pot Sect, and more so that of the Poison Vein lineage, was formidable and well-known, ingraining the notion in many cultivators’ minds not to offend any Poison Vein Master.

Since the matter reached this point, Bi Luo knew his plan had failed. Even if this was all Elder Fu Du’s doing, he couldn’t openly acknowledge it, as at least the Sect rules did not allow such overt destruction.

Having received the answer he sought, Yun Xiao slightly smiled and said, ”If there’s nothing else, I will take my leave!”

After saying this, Yun Xiao bowed slightly to Nian Qiao, an attitude that only pleased the Steward even more, thinking this young man was far more sensible than the haughty Bi Luo.

Right then, Yun Xiao didn’t even glance at the gloomy faces of Bi Luo and Xuan Zhi, but waved to Song Tian, who had been watching and was dumbstruck, and the two left the Mysterious Artifact Hall together.

To be honest, Song Tian was indeed a bit dazed, with his strength, he could only compete with the fellow Outer Disciples, and even in the past, he wouldn’t dare provoke Outer Sect’s Feng Hang and Shen Xiao.

Yet what about the Yun Xiao who had only joined the Outer Sect three months ago? Not only did he defeat Feng Hang on the Outer Sect competition platform, but now he didn’t even regard the Inner Sect genius Bi Luo. How much courage and boldness did that require?

At the beginning, Song Tian was actually very worried. He was concerned that Year Steward might not withstand Bi Luo or say, Elder Fu Du’s pressure. However, Yun Xiao, within a few words, managed to turn the tide and resolve this troublesome matter in an instant.

At this moment, Song Tian not only admired Yun Xiao’s combat abilities but also the young man’s quick-wittedness and adaptability. With such articulate intelligence, why would he not become a top cultivator?

Not to mention how Yun Xiao and Song Tian left together, watching their disappearing figures in the distance, Bi Luo almost ground his teeth to pieces. Only after a long while did he turn around, his eyes darkly glaring at a figure who had settled back into the chair.

”Year Steward Year Qiao, I will definitely report today’s matter truthfully to the teacher. You better be aware of this!”

It’s remarkable for such a young genius to say this to a steward with actual authority. It’s undeniable that Bi Luo’s ego had inflated or perhaps, he had always handled matters in such a manner.

Even if this incident was not orchestrated by Elder Fu Du, Bi Luo knew that if he reported today’s incident to the teacher, the latter would certainly not let Year Steward off. Such an ignorant steward no longer needed to stay at the headquarters of the Jade Pot Sect.

After his words fell, Bi Luo knew he couldn’t gain anything proditive for now, so he immediately turned and left with Xuan Zhi, leaving behind a steward of the Mysterious Artifact Hall whose eyes slightly flickered open and closed, unaware of his thoughts.

...

As Yun Xiao and Bi Luo were having a confrontation in the Mysterious Artifact Hall, within a certain courtyard of the Jade Pot Sect’s Outer Sect, a young figure seemed to tremble. In front of him, there sat an elder in a green robe.

”Shen Xiao, do you realize your mistake?”

The Green Robe elder did not even look at the slightly uneasy young man. His right hand rotated a teacup on the stone table. His words caused Shen Xiao to shake involuntarily.

”Second Elder, I realize my mistake and plead for another chance!”

The once second talented disciple of the Outer Sect, Shen Xiao, where was his former spirited pride now? That’s because he was sitting in front of the ruler of the Poison Vein from the Jade Pot Sect, Elder Fu Du.

Right after the first round of the Outer Sect competition, Elder Fu Du approached Shen Xiao, providing him with the Extreme Cold Yinsu Poison to use against Yun Xiao, to execute some unscrupulous plans.

Who knew that Shen Xiao, this youngster, was so unreliable that he used the Extreme Cold Yinsu Poison on Ling Wan before he even encountered Yun Xiao, which truly infuriated Elder Fu Du.

However, after some time to simmer down, the question Elder Fu Du asked was substantially feigned. Considering the daytime situation, it turned out that the lethal liquid of Extreme Cold Yinsu had little effect on Yun Xiao.

Elder Fu Du even felt somewhat fortunate that Shen Xiao hadn’t used the lethal Extreme Cold Yinsu Poison on Yun Xiao. If that youngster easily neutralized it, his plan would have been completely foiled.

This is why Elder Fu Du personally came to Shen Xiao’s courtyard, not to severely reprimand, but to use a more potent lethal poison to continue his plans.

However, being the Second Elder of the Jade Pot Sect, he couldn’t openly execute his plan. He had to rely on Shen Xiao’s hand, and he planned to poison Yun Xiao during the competition at the Arena Hall, forcing him to seek help from Elder Fu Du.

The earlier stern questioning by Elder Fu Du was merely to intimidate Shen Xiao. After all, tomorrow, Shen Xiao would only have Yun Xiao as his opponent and he believed there could be no further mishaps.

”Since you realize your error, this Elder will give you one more chance, and it’s the only chance. If you fail again, you should know the consequences!”

In front of such Outer Disciples, Elder Fu Du naturally spoke without much courtesy. Seeing that he had finished speaking, he took out a Jade Bottle from his Waist Storage again, and from above the bottle emanated a strange aura.

”So cold!”

With slightly trembling hands he took the Jade Bottle, Shen Xiao didn’t know if it was out of fear or genuine feeling, but he felt an intense coldness emanating from the Jade Bottle, almost freezing his palms.

From this, Shen Xiao knew that the lethal poison Elder Fu Du gave him this time was much stronger than the previous Extreme Cold Yinsu Poison. Thus, he hurriedly stored the Jade Bottle into his Waist Storage, and the extreme chill was somewhat alleviated.

Seeing that Shen Xiao had safely stored the Jade Bottle, Elder Fu Du had no intention of staying any longer. As he stepped forward few steps, he paused, then said, ”If you succeed this time, you will receive great fortune. It’s all in your hands now!”

It seems Elder Fu Du also knew the principle of using both the stick and the carrot. He didn’t want any mishaps in his plan this time. Merely threatening would only instill fear in Shen Xiao, but now, this youngster might go all out to carry out his tasks.
