Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 153: 153 Shameful Ending

Everyone had thought this battle would end quickly, but they never anticipated it would conclude this swiftly and the final outcome would be the complete opposite of what they had expected.

Even many didn’t get to see clearly because Yun Xiao’s speed was too fast, dazzling to the eyes. They knew that if they were in Gao Zheng’s position and unaware of Yun Xiao’s speed, they would undoubtedly be unable to dodge as well.

Of course, this group of shocked geniuses didn’t include Meridian Rushing Realm Cultivators like Feng Hang and Shen Xiao, not to mention Guan Tong over there, who sneered again and again.

The sneer on Guan Tong’s face was directed both at Yun Xiao and at Gao Zheng. In his view, Yun Xiao’s ability to defeat a Meridian Gathering Realm Peak genius so effortlessly and quickly stemmed not only from his cunning tactics but largely from Gao Zheng underestimating Yun Xiao.

Having clashed with Yun Xiao a few times, Guan Tong had some understanding of this young man’s methods. He knew that although Yun Xiao’s Meridian Qi Cultivation wasn’t high, his bizarre and formidable tactics could catch even a Cultivator at the early stage of Meridian Rushing Realm off guard.

Let alone Gao Zheng, who was at the peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm. This veteran Outer Sect genius had never engaged with Yun Xiao and only thought of overcoming him with his superior Meridian Qi, not expecting to be defeated so miserably in the end.

As Guan Tong thought, Gao Zheng indeed lost due to his carelessness or rather his lack of understanding of Yun Xiao. Without employing the Ancestor Vein Power, defeating a Meridian Gathering Realm Peak genius would still have required Yun Xiao some effort.

It happened that Gao Zheng’s pride clouded his judgment, and he underestimated a newcomer at the late stage of the Meridian Gathering Realm, leading to his defeat.

With Yun Xiao’s left hand enveloped in a chilling aura gripping his neck, Gao Zheng didn’t dare to move because, despite not respecting Yun Xiao’s Meridian Qi, the intense coldness was truly unsettling.

Seeing Gao Zheng remaining silent and unable to see his face, Yun Xiao thought the Outer Sect genius had conceded and consequently withdrew his left arm.

Yet, as Yun Xiao retracted his left arm, he failed to see the sly smiles on the faces of some who knew Gao Zheng well below the stage.

”Alas, still too young!”

As someone uttered this, Yun Xiao’s expression slightly changed on the stage, for he suddenly saw Gao Zheng, freed from his left hand’s grasp, take several steps forward and then turn around with a sinister look.

”Boy, exploiting tricks, how can one be convinced of such a win?”

Gao Zheng indeed had some cunning. With just a few words, he pointed out the reason Yun Xiao had won. In his view, as long as he was more careful, he wouldn’t be dominated by such bizarre speeds again.

”So, Elder Brother Gao Zheng, are you saying you lost and want to deny it?”

Yun Xiao looked displeased. He was known for his strategic cunning and had never been played before. He did not expect to be tricked by such a minor Outer Sect genius, which of course did not put him in a good mood.

”Ha ha, lost? When did I say I had conceded? You’re just too naive!” Gao Zheng seemed to hear something very amusing, bursting into a belly laugh.

”This guy, truly so shameless!” Hearing Gao Zheng’s laughter, many Outer Sect geniuses who knew his nature couldn’t help but show a look of disdain.

Although Yun Xiao had been somewhat opportunistic earlier, he indeed had controlled Gao Zheng’s vitals. If he had been more ruthless and used that chance to seriously injure Gao Zheng, all this wouldn’t have happened.

Unfortunately, Yun Xiao’s moment of sympathy and his unawareness of Gao Zheng’s despicable character allowed him to be mockingly bitten back at this moment, which infuriated him extremely.

However, facing a Peak Meridian Gathering Realm Gao Zheng, Yun Xiao showed no sign of fear. Since this fellow was so shameless, Yun Xiao would let him taste the consequences of his shamelessness.

In fact, Gao Zheng also thought the same way. Previously, Yun Xiao, ghost-like in form and elusive in speed, caused him a great disadvantage, striking several major acupoints on his back with the Continuous Brushing Technique.

This time, though, Gao Zheng was fully alert. He believed that as long as he guarded properly and didn’t allow Yun Xiao any openings, the victory of this arena competition would surely be his.

The battle on the stage erupted once again, and like Gao Zheng’s shamelessness, Su He could not do much more than watch. After all, Gao Zheng indeed had not verbally conceded; it was only that Yun Xiao was too ”naive.”

But no one saw that when Gao Zheng fiercely lunged at Yun Xiao, there was a fleeting sneer and fierce gleam in the latter’s eyes. Facing such a shameless opponent, he had no intention of showing any mercy.

”Hmph, you brought this on yourself, don’t blame me!” Yun Xiao muttered to himself as he watched Gao Zheng approaching rapidly, his fists seeming to grow larger in his eyes.

”Meridian Fire, appear!”

With another low shout, a swath of blood-red flames abruptly appeared on the outstretched right hand of Yun Xiao. Seeing these flames, the Cao Family brothers and Zhao Ningshu, who had previously suffered greatly from them, all had somewhat unnatural expressions on their faces.

Especially Cao Ju, the second eldest of the Cao Family, whose severed palm was burned off by Yun Xiao’s Meridian Fire. Thus, his eyes were filled with venomous resentment, silently praying that Gao Zheng could annihilate Yun Xiao with a single punch.

Unfortunately, hope is beautiful, but reality is often cruel. It seemed that the heavens did not hear Cao Ju’s prayers, and Gao Zheng, not being very familiar with Yun Xiao’s Ancestor Vein Fire, once again faced a tragedy.

The Ancestor Vein Fire, evolved from Yun Xiao’s Blood Moon Jade, was fundamentally different from ordinary Ancestor Vein Fire. The typical Meridian Refining Master’s Ancestor Vein Fire was only slightly stronger than ordinary flames, and would indeed find it extremely difficult to impact an opponent with higher Meridian Qi Cultivation significantly.

If Yun Xiao were an ordinary Meridian Refining Master, the Ancestor Vein Fire he deployed with his late-stage Meridian Gathering Realm Cultivation would certainly not be able to break through the defenses of a peak Meridian Gathering Realm Cultivator like Gao Zheng.

Gao Zheng naturally thought the same, believing that this junior from the Outer Sect, who was a minor realm below himself, trying to confront him head-on with Meridian Fire was simply wishful thinking.

However, in the next moment, when Gao Zheng’s left fist barely touched Yun Xiao’s right palm, he realized he was terribly wrong, as such Meridian Fire was unprecedented and unheard of for him.

”Ah!”

A piercing scream erupted from Gao Zheng’s mouth, and even his right fist, which was aimed at Yun Xiao’s chest, retracted abruptly, perhaps due to the intense pain from his left fist making him forget everything else.

Bang!

At that moment, Gao Zheng felt a shock in his chest, and immediately his body was flung into the air, violently thrown out of the arena, and he harshly landed on one side of the second stage, unable to even crawl up for a while.

Everyone stared dumbfounded at this scene, their minds seemingly unable to comprehend why, within one move, a peak Meridian Gathering Realm Cultivator like Gao Zheng was severely injured by Yun Xiao, who was at a later stage of the same realm.

Many sympathetic people couldn’t help but cast a schadenfreude glance at Gao Zheng, who had fallen to the ground. This guy clearly brought humiliation upon himself; he could have chosen to admit defeat and retreat safely, but he insisted on provoking Yun Xiao again - wasn’t this asking for trouble?

In fact, Gao Zheng once again suffered from not knowing Yun Xiao’s capabilities well. He thought that the newcomer was only good at speed, and as long as he guarded against that bizarre speed, he wouldn’t be defeated.

Little did he know that Yun Xiao’s methods were not limited to speed alone. That bizarre Ancestor Vein Fire was frighteningly formidable; once touched, it seemed to burn through one’s marrow and could not be shaken off.

However, people like Feng Hang and Shen Xiao still did not show even the slightest fear towards Yun Xiao, thinking that if this young man unexpectedly used these tactics during a battle, they might indeed be startled.

But now, Yun Xiao had shown his trump card in the first round of the battle, which was still a tactful maneuver. As long as one was prepared, they would not end up like Gao Zheng, this was unanimously agreed upon by the two Meridian Rushing Realm Cultivators.

”Ah, help...help me!”

As everyone watched in stunned silence, Gao Zheng finally managed to struggle up from the ground below the stage, but that blood-red flame on his left fist was still burning his flesh, causing him to cry out in terror.

”Senior Brother Gao Zheng, this Meridian Fire of mine is no ordinary fire. If you wish to preserve your life, it’s best to amputate your arm courageously!” From the stage above, Yun Xiao’s voice, somewhat cold and mocking, conveyed down, letting everyone clearly understand what Gao Zheng was fearing.

At this moment, everyone felt pity for Gao Zheng; vile acts always had a price, it seemed his earlier shamelessness had truly enraged the newly acclaimed genius on the stage, hence the misfortune of losing a palm at this moment.

Seeing the miserable state of Gao Zheng, for some reason, Cao Ju from the Cao Family felt a trace of satisfaction, as if having someone else end up with the same fate as his was the most fair.

”I...I...”

Even with Yun Xiao’s warning, cutting off one’s own palm required enormous courage. At this moment, Gao Zheng, who took a short knife from his Waist Storage, still hesitated.

But the Ancestor Vein Fire on him would not entertain Gao Zheng’s hesitation and fear; it methodically spread up the arm of this genius from the Outer Sect, and soon it wouldn’t just be the left palm that Gao Zheng needed to cut off.
