CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows

Deep within the innermost sanctuary of the Black Granite Citadel, the silence was absolute. The air was heavy with the weight of raw, unrefined magic.

Caius sat cross-legged atop a grand stone pedestal at the center of the chamber. Hovering silently directly above the crown of his head was the Crown Core, a jagged, radiant sphere of hyper-compressed dark energy that pulsed like a dying star. Beneath him, etched into the basalt floor, complex thread-arrays glowed in rhythmic violet light, channeling the massive spiritual harvest collected from the slaughter in the Death Bowl.

The harvest was staggeringly immense. Ten thousand units were processed directly into obsidian blood essence to fortify the foundation of his current legion. The remaining forty thousand human souls and mana cores were channeled into the Crown Core to undergo a brutal, multi-staged refinement process.

Caius closed his eyes, extending his consciousness into his inner mind sea. Above his head, the Crown Core dilated, unleashing a gravitational vortex. The chaotic torrent of fallen Solarians was violently dragged into the core’s central horizon.

Here, the process began in earnest. First, the physical mana cores of the fallen soldiers were subjected to microscopic gravitational shearing, tearing away the calcified outer shells formed by decades of human cultivation.

Second, the volatile elemental signatures, ranging from stray fireballs to residual ice mana, were exposed to absolute thermal purification, burning away erratic emotional residue, mortal hatred, and unstable spell structures.

Third, the core acted as an absolute metaphysical sieve, fractionalizing the melted energy into distinct, pristine streams while purging every trace of dross.

The first three refined essences were directed immediately to reinforce his domain. A massive tide of liquid dark energy washed over the outer court nodes in his mind sea.

The Black Flame Demon let out a soundless, ecstatic roar as dark flames enveloped its horns and its magma veins widened. The Black Sabre-Lightning Tiger curled its massive frame around its node, its violet lightning crackling with kinetic intensity, while the Arachne Princess absorbed the dark power to coat her chitinous spider-arms in a thicker, deadlier venom.

Deep underground, a dense stream of high-tier dark mana fed the ceiling crystal in the Arachne hatchery. The nine hundred newly hatched spiderlings, basking in the sudden influx of Sovereign-tier energy, shuddered as their growth rates doubled once more, their chitin shells hardening to match the strength of veteran beasts.

Caius then drew a portion of the pure obsidian essence into his hands, carefully forging fifty high-tier Crown Shards and five thousand newly upgraded Legion Beads, laying the complete foundation to bind future elite officers and raise his eventual second Obsidian Legion.

Then came the final, fourth division, representing the absolute pinnacle of the entire harvest. Caius raised his right hand toward the Crown Core floating above his head.

The final ten thousand souls, consisting of the highest-tier war-mages, noble knights, and elite officers, were compressed down beyond physical limits through a secondary hyper-pressurized cycle. The Crown Core flared with blinding, dark light, stripping away every last trace of impurity until only the absolute purest soul essence remained.

Slowly, the liquid dark light condensed into a single, flawless sphere resting in his palm. It did not radiate blackness, but a dense, translucent crimson-gold hue that hummed with terrifying spiritual density, the purest essence bead ever forged in the Shattered Steppes.

Caius brought the bead down to eye level, holding it up between two fingers. A cold, deeply satisfied smile slowly spread across his face as his gaze locked onto the glowing orb.

”With this...” Caius whispered into the silent sanctuary.
