Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”No, I don’t want you to leave, big brother! Don’t go, okay? Okay?” He Yue’s tears were out of control, soaking her little face. She tightly held onto Ning Chenguang’s hand, as if afraid that if she let go, he would disappear.

”Yueyue...” Ning Chenguang’s tears were falling drop by drop, but after calling her name, he didn’t know what to say.

”Big brother, if you leave, what about Yueyue? Yueyue will miss you!” He Yue cried louder and louder, her heart breaking more and more.

From inside the car, An Hao couldn’t listen any longer. She got out, crouched down, and gently lifted her hand to wipe Yueyue’s tears, saying, ”Yueyue, be good, don’t cry anymore! If you keep crying, someone as pretty as you won’t be beautiful anymore. You don’t want big brother to see you looking unbeautiful, do you?”

”Mmm!” He Yue nodded, trying hard to hold back her sobs, yet the tears continued to flow uncontrollably, ”Aunt An Hao, can big brother stay here for another year, okay?”

Looking at He Yue’s tears, An Hao’s heart was also filled with mixed feelings.

The two kids had stayed together for so long and developed feelings for each other, and now forcing them apart was truly a cruel thing.

But, she couldn’t possibly allow her son to stay at He Family Manor forever, right?

”How about half a year?”

An Hao remained silent.

”One month, okay?” He Yue kept reducing her time, but An Hao still didn’t nod.

”Yueyue! Yueyue!” At this time, the family was ready to eat, and He Fusheng came out to call He Yue for dinner, only to see her standing by the army vehicle, crying her heart out.

With a glance, he realized it was Qin Jian and An Hao.

He Fusheng took a few quick steps to the army vehicle, greeted Qin Jian and An Hao, then bent down to talk to He Yue: ”Why are you crying? Didn’t you always say you wanted to see big brother? Now that he’s here, shouldn’t you be happy? Why are you crying?”

Mentioning it only made the crying worse.

”Look at this child, really!” Seeing Yueyue cry even harder, He Fusheng decided to let her be and turned his attention to Ning Chenguang’s illness, ”How is the child’s illness?”

Even before An Hao could reply, he noticed Ning Chenguang’s eyes were red too.

”Eh, why are you crying too?”

”Brother He, Guangguang’s illness has completely recovered. Thanks to your meticulous care over the past year! Our whole family is immensely grateful. Now that the child’s illness is cured...”

Midway through An Hao’s words, He Fusheng realized why He Yue was crying so hard—it was because Ning Chenguang was leaving.

”I understand! I understand! You want to take the child back, right?”

”Yes. Brother He, that’s exactly what we mean,” An Hao said.

”It’s only right! It’s only right! The child has been here for so long, as parents, you must miss him! We completely understand your feelings!” As He Fusheng spoke, his voice unexpectedly choked with emotion.

Humans are not like grass or trees, how can they be emotionless?

They had treated Ning Chenguang as their own child, and now that he was leaving, thinking that they might never see him again really left a bitter feeling.

”Brother He, don’t be like this!” Qin Jian saw this simple mountain man crying and knew his feelings were genuine. He reached out to tightly grasp his hand, saying, ”Although Guangguang is leaving, our bond remains. In the future, we must keep in touch!”
