Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1743: Jiu Tou Sen First Mention

Yuan Xiajie trembled and subconsciously took a step back as the demon extermination sword appeared in Zhang Fei’s right hand. Two auras—red and white—enveloped his body, followed by the appearance of two terrifying silhouettes.

Yuan Xiajie’s pupils constricted, staring at the white silhouette of the nine-tailed fox floating side by side with the red silhouette of a woman.

’A nine-tailed fox? Is that woman’s silhouette the Eternal Flame?’ Yuan Xiajie hadn’t experienced such a feeling of fear in a long time, let alone the feeling coming from a young cultivator who was much younger and weaker than her. Her gaze shifted to the demon extermination sword that was trembling non-stop in Zhang Fei’s grasp. ’What kind of sword is that? Why do I feel that the sword is impatient to kill me?’

Yuan Xiajie’s feelings became messy and complicated after seeing the current Zhang Fei.

At their first meeting, Zhang Fei was still living in the Sovereign Heaven Realm, and he was still so weak that Yuan Xiajie could easily suppress him without batting an eye.

Their second meeting occurred in the Abyssal Realm so many years ago. Yuan Xiajie knew that Zhang Fei had become slightly stronger that time, but he was far weaker than the current him. She knew that he wanted the Nine Yin Soul Banner, but she used Wang Yin, who was under her control, to seize it from him.

Their third meeting occurred within the mountain in the Endless Domain several years ago, and Zhang Fei came there to look for Wang Yin. He found her and the four female demons in an unusual condition, but she did not recognize him because Yuan Xiajie had altered their memories.

At that time, Feng Yao appeared to help Zhang Fei, and she forced the female demon to release the five female demons from her control. Yuan Xiajie was truly terrified at that time, and she carried out the female phoenix’s orders by releasing them, which made all her plans fail miserably and she had to start over from scratch.

Yuan Xiajie was bewildered. Her brain couldn’t register Zhang Fei’s progress, which was too fast compared to all the cultivators in the universe.

When they first met about thirteen years ago, Zhang Fei’s cultivation had only recently broken through to the Divine Transcend Realm, but his cultivation had already reached the Celestial Emperor Realm now, and he could increase it to the Celestial Venerable Realm by borrowing the power of other cultivators.

”Daydreaming in front of your enemy?”

Yuan Xiajie was momentarily shocked to hear Zhang Fei’s voice from behind her. She swiftly turned around and attacked him, but unfortunately, her attack only hit his illusion. ’His speed is too fast!’

Zhang Fei appeared a little far away from Yuan Xiajie. ”I don’t want to waste my time with you, so I will use my highest techniques now.”

In the blink of an eye, a giant golden sword appeared above Zhang Fei, followed by a flurry of petals formed from his sword intent, blooming from nothing.

”What the hell?” Yuan Xiajie was increasingly shocked by Zhang Fei’s two sword techniques. She released her strength to the maximum, and the pitch-black aura surrounding her body grew even thicker. ”Shit! I’ll die if I get hit by those two techniques!”

”Are you afraid?” Zhang Fei calmly asked.

”Humph!” Yuan Xiajie snorted. ”I’m much stronger and more experienced than you! I will never be afraid of you! Come on! Strike me with your attacks!”

Zhang Fei chuckled lightly before swinging his sword twice. ”Final move: Sever the Heavenly Path! Last move: Ashen Bloom!”

In that instant, the giant golden sword above Zhang Fei, followed by the flurry of petals, glided toward Yuan Xiajie.

Yuan Xiajie could feel the terrifying pressure, especially from the giant golden sword. Her eyes widened as the flurry of petals severed everything in its path, giving her a deep sense of dread. She swung the two black swords in her hands, but all her attacks disappeared before they could touch the petals.

Yuan Xiajie flew away from Zhang Fei, but the giant golden sword and the flurry of petals continued to chase him as if they had locked onto her.

Long Xukong, who was watching from a distance, could only be stunned while holding his breath. Next to him, Feng Yao’s lips curled up into an enchanting smile, and the pride on her face could not be hidden.

Yuan Xiajie grew even more frightened when she looked back. She turned her gaze to Zhang Fei, thinking of a way to reverse the situation. She gnashed her teeth, maneuvered, and flew towards him at high speed. ”If I must die today, I will take you down to hell with me!”

”Sorry to disappoint you; today is not the day I died but yours.” Zhang Fei removed his sword techniques and activated his sword domain, imprisoning Yuan Xiajie within it. Countless white and red swords quickly appeared within it, and they shot towards her simultaneously.

Yuan Xiajie was shocked again by the appearance of those swords. She nimbly counterattacked them while dodging them. However, the swords were simply numerous, which made it difficult for her to dodge them. Within seconds, her body was covered in slashes, and black blood flowed profusely from her wounds, gradually weakening her and slowing her movements.

In her entire life, Yuan Xiajie had never felt death so close, and at that moment, she felt as if she could die at any time. She tried to get close to Zhang Fei to attack him, but all the swords blocked her path. ”Since I couldn’t get close to you, I was forced to use a last resort! Even though I can’t take revenge on Meng Zhuo for the death of my entire clan, I will at least take you to death with me!”

After she said that, Yuan Xiajie’s body expanded to several times its true size, and her strength also increased significantly. She looked at Zhang Fei hatefully, but she felt she had no choice but to use that technique to kill him.

’Father! Mother! Brothers! Sisters! Please forgive me for not being able to avenge you, and I will catch up with you all after this.’ Yuan Xiajie swung her two black swords towards Zhang Fei. ”Die!”

Long Xukong wanted to move to save Zhang Fei, but Feng Yao immediately stopped him and shook her head at him.

Zhang Fei remained unfazed by Yuan Xiajie’s attack, and the primordial flames enveloped the Demon Extermination Sword. He flew toward her and swung his sword, which immediately clashed with her two swords.

*Crack*

Yuan Xiajie fell into despair as soon as she saw her two black swords broken in half. She sighed in her heart and closed her eyes, waiting for her death. However, the death she awaited never came, and Zhang Fei’s voice rang out. ”What a fool! Do you want to die that badly? If you die, how can I restore Wang Yin’s memories?”

Yuan Xiajie opened her eyes and stared at Zhang Fei. ”Why? Why didn’t you kill me?”

”Like I said, I need you to restore Wang Yin’s memories.” Yuan Xiajie opened her mouth, but no words came out. ”Moreover, I never intended to kill you from the start, and I wanted to defeat you to dispel the fear in my heart.”

”Why? I already—”

Zhang Fei sighed. ”At first, I wanted to kill you after what you did to Wang Yin, but I changed my mind after I saw your past and the destruction of your clan. I realized that you harbored a deep grudge, and you did everything to avenge the deaths of your clan members, so I decided to forgive you.”

Yuan Xiajie turned sad as soon as Zhang Fei mentioned her clan members, tears streaming down from her pitch-black eyes. ”Sob... There’s only one goal left in my life, and I want to kill Meng Zhuo with my own hands.”

Feng Yao flew beside them and spoke to Yuan Xiajie. ”Even though your cultivation has reached his level, Meng Zhuo is still too strong for you. He is the Nightmare Lord who has lived long before your clan, and he is one of the cultivators most feared by the Ancients. No matter how hard you try to improve your strength, you will never be able to defeat him, let alone kill him.”

”Am...am I really never going to be able to defeat and kill Meng Zhuo?”

”You won’t have a chance for that.” Feng Yao glanced at Zhang Fei. ”You will never be able to defeat Meng Zhuo, but my husband can defeat him in the future.”

Yuan Xiajie looked at Zhang Fei. At first, she believed that he would never be able to reach her level, let alone defeat her. However, the results showed otherwise, and he defeated her without much difficulty.

Zhang Fei looked at Feng Yao. ”How strong is Meng Zhuo really?”

”Meng Zhuo is much stronger than Mo Qingwen, husband.” Zhang Fei frowned deeply after Feng Yao said that. ”In the past, there were ten cultivators who were considered the strongest in this Ancient Realm. The Nightmare Lord was the third strongest, and the Demon God was the fourth strongest. With the disappearance of the strongest cultivator, their ranking automatically rose by one place.”

”The strongest cultivator should be Guang Zhiyi, right?”

Feng Yao smiled. ”You could say that, but I’ve never cared about that, and I’m more focused on achieving my goals.”

”If the Nightmare Lord is the second strongest right now, then who is the strongest among that list?”

”The title of the strongest cultivator in this Ancient Realm is currently held by a demon beast named Jiu Tou Sen, and he comes from the same race as your contract beast, Jiu Shui.”

Zhang Fei was surprised to hear that. ”You mean Jiu Tou Sen is the Nine-Headed Serpent Beast?”
