The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 691: Chapter 691: Start Immediately

Seventh Hall Master did not expect Jing Yan to suggest refining the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill immediately, so in her surprise, she asked for the Holy Master’s opinion.

Saint Master Shen Chong was also somewhat taken aback by this.

Truth be told, not only were the hall masters skeptical, but Saint Master Shen Chong himself also doubted that Jing Yan’s abilities in the Alchemy Dao could surpass those of Hu Donghe. Even though Jing Yan possessed the Qiankun Ring, it still seemed far too incredible.

Shen Chong had a basic understanding of the Qiankun Ring, but his knowledge was not thorough. He only knew that the Qiankun Ring was related to a powerful legacy; the specifics of which he did not know.

”Jing Yan, are you sure you want to help the Seventh Hall Master refine the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill now? I think, when you have the time, and are better prepared, then consider refining, the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill. I believe the Seventh Hall Master is also not in a rush for you to refine the elixir,” Shen Chong looked at Jing Yan.

His words were not meant to oppose Jing Yan’s immediate commencement of the refining, but to express concern about how successful Jing Yan could be in such a rushed situation.

If the refining failed, wouldn’t that be a joke to others?

Hu Donghe had just been praising Jing Yan extensively, and if Jing Yan failed in Alchemy immediately, it would not only be a disgrace for Jing Yan but also for Hu Donghe!

”Great Alchemist King Jing Yan truly has a warm heart, saying he’ll help and then immediately starting to help. Tsk, tsk, I admire that!” Third Hall Master Kui Long said with a sneer.

He intentionally emphasized the words ”Great Alchemist King” to provoke Jing Yan.

Jing Yan naturally picked up on this, he glanced at Third Hall Master Kui Long, and his lips slightly curled up, though he chose not to engage further with the Third Hall Master at this time.

”Holy Master, if you don’t object, I would like to help the Seventh Hall Master refine a batch of the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill immediately,” Jing Yan bowed slightly to Shen Chong, ”It won’t take too much time, just ten to fifteen days should suffice,” Jing Yan added.

When these words were uttered, everyone was slightly stunned, and then some of the hall masters immediately laughed.

Ten to fifteen days?

Wasn’t that a joke?

This is a Ninth-level Elixir! Even for an average Ninth-level Elixir, ten to fifteen days is surely not enough time?

These hall masters, though not experts in Alchemy Dao, knew the time and effort needed to refine a Ninth-level Elixir.

Taking the former Hu Donghe as an example, it would take at least two to three months to refine a batch of Ninth-level Elixirs. And that was just for ordinary Ninth-level Elixirs. If it were the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill, half a year would be likely.

Yet Jing Yan claimed it would only take ten to fifteen days.

Wasn’t that utter nonsense?

What they didn’t realize was that saying ten to fifteen days was already a conservative estimate from Jing Yan. If really pressed for time, Jing Yan could complete a batch of the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill within a few days.

Seeing the expressions of the hall masters, Jing Yan didn’t take them seriously and didn’t bother to explain further. The results would speak more powerfully than any words could. No matter how eloquent the speech, it would be feeble, but placing the elixir in front of them would be undeniable proof.

”Jing Yan, since you insist, then I have no objections. I assume the other hall masters also have no objections,” Shen Chong briefly furrowed his brow while speaking to Jing Yan.

”Seventh Hall Master, it must not have been easy for you to gather the ingredients for the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill! Fortunately, you prepared two sets of materials,” Third Hall Master said to the Seventh Hall Master with a smile.

The implication being that Jing Yan would certainly waste one set of ingredients for the Seventh Hall Master.

The Seventh Hall Master looked at Third Hall Master, her brows slightly furrowed, but she didn’t say anything. Anyway, from the beginning, she hadn’t held much hope for Jing Yan; if Jing Yan wasted a set of materials, then so be it!

As long as Hu Donghe was serious and helpful, it would still be worth it.

”Great Alchemist King Jing Yan, thank you for willing to help with the refining. Here are the materials, you tell me how much compensation you require, and I will prepare it as soon as possible,” Seventh Hall Master Leng Hongying said to Jing Yan.

Although she didn’t hold much hope for Jing Yan’s ability to refine the elixir, it was still necessary to reward him for the refining. Hiring the Great Alchemist King to refine an elixir, regardless of success or failure, required compensation. The only difference was that if the refining failed, the compensation would be less, and if it succeeded, more.

”Let’s not discuss compensation for the moment. After I successfully refine the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill and hand it over to you, Seventh Hall Master, then we can talk about the compensation for this refining,” Jing Yan gestured with his hand.

He didn’t directly say he wouldn’t take any compensation.

Refining an elixir like the Ten Thousand Spirit Returning Origin Pill and not receiving any compensation would definitely be inappropriate. Moreover, if he started that precedent, and other hall masters also asked Jing Yan for help, how could he justify not accepting compensation from the Seventh Hall Master but then accept it from others?

Thus, compensation, whether Jing Yan cared about it or not, must be taken and not a small amount.

How much to take exactly, he would consult Hu Donghe when the time came.

”That’s fine then!” the Seventh Hall Master did not dwell too much on this issue.

After receiving one set of materials, Jing Yan then turned to Saint Master Shen Chong, ”Holy Master, I suggest we temporarily pause this hall master conference. Would it be acceptable to continue after I have completed refining this batch of elixirs?”

”That is naturally fine. Jing Yan, you may conduct the refining within the Holy Hall, head to the inner hall where no one can disturb you,” Shen Chong nodded.

The inner hall had many rooms, and normally, aside from the Holy Master and Grand Steward Chang Huan, not even the nine hall masters had the right to enter the inner hall.

”Thank you very much, Holy Master,” Jing Yan did not refuse.

There was no problem refining the elixir within this Holy Hall.

Although it was possible that the Holy Master could control everything within the Holy Palace, the Holy Master was already aware of the existence of the Qiankun Ring, and there was no need to deliberately hide it from the Holy Master now; doing so might only displease the Holy Master.

If the Holy Master wanted to seize his Qiankun Ring, he could have done so already; there was no need to wait until now.

Moreover, even if the Holy Master did want to seize it, if Jing Yan stayed inside the Qiankun Ring, the Holy Master might be helpless. The Qiankun Ring was definitely not of lower quality compared to the Holy Artifact of the Holy Palace, and Jing Yan was not worried that the Holy Palace could completely suppress him.

”Chang Huan, escort Jing Yan to the inner hall to find a room,” Shen Chong instructed Chang Huan.

”Alright!”

”Jing Yan, follow me,” Chang Huan said to Jing Yan.

Jing Yan followed Chang Huan into the inner hall of the Holy Hall, entered one of the rooms under his guidance, and then Chang Huan took his leave. Chang Huan would not stay to watch Jing Yan refine.

Front Hall!

”Gentlemen hall masters, the hall master conference will be temporarily suspended, and you are free to leave the Holy Hall. Once Jing Yan successfully refines the elixir, I will have Chang Huan notify you all,” Shen Chong told the nine hall masters.

”Holy Master, may we wait in the front hall? Great Alchemist King Jing Yan did say it would only take ten to fifteen days. The time is quite short, and we could meditate and practice a bit, which would pass the time,” Third Hall Master spoke up.
