The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 665: Chapter 665: The Identity of the Mother

Without waiting for permission, Mu Liantian rushed directly into Zhou Shangyun’s residence.

Almost simultaneously, Zhou Shangyun came out of his room—Mu Liantian hadn’t concealed his aura, so Zhou Shangyun sensed him while Mu Liantian was still outside the courtyard gate.

”Liantian, what happened now?”

Over the past ten years, Zhou Shangyun had truly exhausted himself.

Although he was the Lanqu County Prince and held an official position, his personal strength was relatively low. Even with his official status, families like the Gai Family didn’t take him very seriously.

This led to various messy affairs in Lanqu County over the past ten years. The Gai Family kept causing trouble, leaving Zhou Shangyun worn out from dealing with them.

That wasn’t even the worst of it. For Zhou Shangyun, the most heartbreaking thing was his daughter Bai Xue going missing—over a decade with no news, and no trace to be found.

Seeing Mu Liantian rush to him so anxiously, Zhou Shangyun knew something significant must have happened.

”Prince!”

”Jing Yan... Jing Yan has returned!” Mu Liantian was so excited he was nearly incoherent.

”What did you say?” Zhou Shangyun was taken aback.

He thought he had heard wrong.

”Prince, Jing Yan is still alive and has returned to Donglin City. The message from Donglin City Lord Jing Tianying is undoubtedly true,” Mu Liantian said, taking a deep breath.

”How... How is that possible?”

”Jing Yan fell into the Death Abyss, how could he possibly be alive? The Death Abyss, when sealed off, even formidable beings at the Saint Realm are almost impossible to escape alive,” Zhou Shangyun was incredibly shocked.

”Perhaps it’s a miracle!” Mu Liantian’s eyes were ablaze.

”Jing Yan... Is the young lad still alive?” A figure descended, asking the question.

The newcomer was Zhou Shangyun’s father, Zhou Tiandu, a powerful being at the Dao King Realm. Zhou Tiandu had an issue with his Complete Heaven Martial Arts Meridians in the past, and it was Jing Yan who resolved it, not only restoring Zhou Tiandu’s Martial Arts Cultivation but also advancing it further.

Therefore, when Zhou Tiandu learned of Jing Yan’s death, he was also extremely angry. However, he couldn’t take revenge for Jing Yan. Families like the Gai Family had heaps of Dao King Realm powerhouses; he wasn’t strong enough to challenge them alone.

”Old Master, the news should be accurate; Jing Yan truly is alive, right now in Donglin City,” Mu Liantian stated firmly.

”Then what are we waiting for?”

”Let’s go to Donglin City to see!”

”This kid Jing Yan, I just knew he wouldn’t die so easily,” Zhou Tiandu’s joyful voice rang out.

”Good, to Donglin City!”

”Yes, I’ll go over and take a look too,” Zhou Shangyun and Mu Liantian immediately followed up.

...

In the Donglin City Lord’s Mansion, within a room.

”Senior Tianshui, can you tell me now?” Jing Yan, having entered the Qiankun Small World, faced Tianshui and asked.

”Ah...” Tianshui sighed.

”All right! I shall tell you everything I know now,” Tianshui knew what Jing Yan wanted to ask.

”This matter begins with your origins. Jing Yan, you actually have Divine Race blood in your veins,” Tianshui’s gaze rested on Jing Yan.

Hearing this, Jing Yan was momentarily stunned—what did Senior Tianshui mean?

”Your father, Jing Lunnan, is human. But your mother is from the Divine Race. As far as I know, the Divine Race is also human, but there’s some difference between the bloodlines of the Divine Race and the humans of this world,” Tianshui said, ”In fact, I think that your ability to unlock the Qiankun Ring’s seal is related to your bloodline. Of course, this is just my speculation; I’m not certain of the details.”

”I have this suspicion because I also have Divine Race blood, and I’ve unlocked the Qiankun Ring’s seal before,” Tianshui looked somewhat odd.

”Elder, you’re saying my mother is from the Divine Race? The Divine Race of the Despair Abyss?” Jing Yan was genuinely surprised.

He had little memory of his father, and nearly none of his mother.

When he was young, nobody in the Jing Family had ever mentioned his mother.

Never would he have thought that his mother would be from the Divine Race.

The Divine Race wasn’t a creature of this world but from another plane. In fact, the Divine Race are humans, hailing from another plane.

”Yes!”

”Your mother’s name should be Chu Lianxing.”

”As for how your father met your mother, don’t ask me. I also don’t know,” Tianshui continued.

”I know of your father and mother because they entered the Death Abyss together. Around thirty years ago, the Death Abyss opened for three days; it was a chance occurrence that your father acquired the Qiankun Ring. As you know, my fragment of Divine Soul has been inside the Qiankun Ring for thousands of years.”

”Under the seal of the Qiankun Ring, my Divine Soul was mostly in a slumber and had limited perceptions of the outside world.”

”Your father obtained the Qiankun Ring and planned to leave with your mother, but they were discovered by Gu Wanquan from the Gai Family. Gu Wanquan, from some source, learned about the Qiankun Ring and valued it highly; he demanded the ring from your father.”

”Your father’s Martial Arts Cultivation was average, but your mother was formidable. Gu Wanquan could not steal the Qiankun Ring from her.”

”Subsequent events seemed related to your mother’s clan. Your mother’s clan was furious about her union with your father and wanted to take her back. Her clan is evidently quite strong, though I am not clear on the exact extent. Regardless, your mother had little room to resist.”

”Before your mother left, she managed to negotiate some conditions. I don’t have a full understanding, only that it involves an agreement between your mother’s clan, the Continent Saint Master, and Gu Wanquan from the Gai Family.”

”Jing Yan, the reason your family still exists is because of this contract. Gu Wanquan fears the power of your mother’s clan; thus, he dared not rashly take action against your family, only surveilling you,” Tianshui paused here.

Jing Yan remained silent for quite a while, needing time to digest what Tianshui had said.

Clearly, Tianshui spoke the truth. After learning this information, all the previously inexplicable matters made sense.

Jing Yan had always wondered why the Gai Family, knowing the direct connection between the Qiankun Ring and the Jing Family, had not taken forceful action. The real reason was their fear of his mother’s clan’s power.

Furthermore, even the Continent’s Saint Master was involved in the situation, seemingly present at the time, determining the agreement with the other two parties.

”Senior Tianshui, my father is still alive, right?” After a while, Jing Yan looked up at Tianshui.
