Chapter 685: Chapter 685: Hall Master Meeting

After Shen Chong finished speaking, he just watched Jing Yan silently.

Hu Donghe repeatedly gave Jing Yan meaningful glances; he hoped Jing Yan would agree.

Even Hu Donghe was tempted by the status of Hall Master.

If he could become the Holy Palace Master, Hu Donghe might even give up the position of Pill Spirit City Lord. However, the position of Holy Palace Master requires extremely high combat power, and although Hu Donghe was a Great Alchemist King, his combat power was just mediocre.

If Hu Donghe were to fight Gu Mo, whom Jing Yan had killed, his chances of winning wouldn’t be great, as Hu Donghe was not known for his combat prowess.

Of course, it would also be extremely difficult for Gu Mo to kill Hu Donghe.

Jing Yan didn’t consider for too long before he made a decision.

Becoming the Holy Palace Master, though it meant joining the Holy Palace and becoming a subordinate of the Holy Master, involved very few restrictions. And across the entire Continent, he would only need to listen to the commands of Saint Master Shen Chong.

”I’ll follow Elder Brother’s arrangement,” Jing Yan bowed and responded to Shen Chong.

”Good, since there’s no issue on your end, Jing Yan, I’ll arrange a meeting of the Hall Masters to discuss this matter,” Shen Chong smiled, ”Ha ha, adding a Hall Master is not something I can decide with just a word, I need the agreement of the other Hall Masters.”

”Jing Yan, you need to be prepared mentally. The other Hall Masters might object,” Shen Chong told Jing Yan, giving him a heads-up.

Jing Yan nodded.

Becoming a Hall Master wouldn’t be so simple, otherwise there wouldn’t be only nine Hall Masters. On the Heavenly Origin Continent, although Dao Emperor Realm Practitioners aren’t very numerous, they aren’t as few as just a handful.

There are also some Dao Emperors who rarely appear since they are deep in cultivation. After all, the entire Continent is very large. Besides those from major forces, the number of Independent Cultivation Dao Emperors, when added up, is probably not small. They just rarely make appearances.

If becoming a Hall Master of the Holy Palace were so easy, the position would definitely attract many hidden Independent Cultivation Dao Emperors.

”Chang Huan, go and notify all the Hall Masters to attend the meeting in the Holy Hall tomorrow,” Shen Chong instructed Chang Huan.

”Okay, I’ll send the message to the Hall Masters right away,” Chang Huan answered and left the Central Hall of the Holy Hall.

Following that, Saint Master Shen Chong also arranged temporary accommodations for Jing Yan and Hu Donghe within the Holy Palace.

Inside a silver palace.

”Tsk tsk... True to the Holy Palace, each of these maids is beautiful,” Hu Donghe smiled and eyed the maids in the palace.

These maids were all Martial Artists.

The one leading them had even reached the Daoist Master Realm.

Their duty at this time was to serve Jing Yan and Hu Donghe, fulfilling all their needs.

Hearing Hu Donghe’s remarks, Jing Yan smiled.

”You all can go for now, I will call you if needed,” Jing Yan waved towards the dozens of maids in front of him.

”Yes, sir!” the leading maid answered and then led the others away from the palace.

They dared not defy Jing Yan and Hu Donghe in any way.

In the Great Hall, only Jing Yan and Hu Donghe were left.

”Jing Yan, tomorrow when the Holy Master convenes the meeting of Hall Masters, if needed, don’t be too modest,” Hu Donghe seriously said to Jing Yan.

Jing Yan looked at Hu Donghe.

”The Hall Masters each have their own pride. If you appear weak, they will only look down on you, thinking you are easy to bully. You have the strength, so be firm when you need to. Only the strong can command respect. If you want their help, without sufficient strength, even if the Holy Master forcefully suppresses them, they might not give their full effort,” Hu Donghe seriously advised.

Hu Donghe was much slicker in handling personal relations than Jing Yan.

If it weren’t for Hu Donghe’s explicit reminder, Jing Yan might indeed have acted more modestly, but with Hu Donghe’s words, Jing Yan suddenly realized.

”I understand,” Jing Yan responded.

”Um, if you successfully become one of the Ten Hall Masters, things will be different. You can completely establish your own faction, just like the other Nine Hall Masters each have their own faction.”

”Attracting strong Martial Artists, for people like you and me, Jing Yan, is not difficult. Even Dao Emperor Realm Practitioners need Elixirs for cultivation. Across the entire Continent, Pill Masters who can supply Elixirs for the use of Dao Emperor Realm Practitioners are indeed rare,” Hu Donghe confidently stated.

The main reason why Hu Donghe, in Pill Spirit City, didn’t have Dao Emperor Realm Martial Artists as subordinates, was that he couldn’t do so.

The reason was simple.

Hu Donghe was not an official. If he started conscripting troops extensively, what would the Holy Master think?

Hu Donghe was well aware of this, so he didn’t deliberately develop his influence, to avoid attracting the Holy Master’s attention. After all, as a Great Alchemist King, he lived quite freely on the Continent, and generally, people wouldn’t dare offend him.

But if Jing Yan became a Hall Master, then Jing Yan would have the authority to recruit troops and, using some extremely rare and precious Elixirs, gather some Dao Emperor Realm Martial Artists, which is completely permissible and also allowed by the Holy Master.

This was also one of the powers of a Holy Palace Hall Master and a key aspect of its great appeal.

The following day, in front of the Holy Hall.

One by one, figures entered from outside.

These people were the nine Hall Masters, some of them greeted each other quietly, others loudly. Some were enthusiastic, others more reserved.

All nine Hall Masters were present; among them, only one was female, the others were all male.

”I say, Grand Steward, do tell us what the Holy Master called us here for? I was just about to go into seclusion when I got the message, and I had to stop my plans abruptly,” a red-faced Hall Master spoke out loudly as he looked towards Chang Huan.

His voice was very loud.

When he greeted the other Hall Masters, his voice was the loudest and even made others’ ears buzz.

As he spoke, the other eight Hall Masters also turned their attention to Chang Huan.

”Exactly! Grand Steward Chang Huan, you’re really keeping your lips sealed tight, huh?”

”Who’s to say, what harm could it do to tell us? Anyway, when the Holy Master arrives, he will still talk about this matter. How could it hurt to inform us in advance?”

Several more talkative Hall Masters began to speak.

While the more reserved Hall Masters didn’t speak up, their expressions clearly showed they also awaited the reason for the Hall Master meeting from Chang Huan.

”All Hall Masters, I really don’t know! How can I inquire when the Holy Master doesn’t tell me?” Chang Huan responded with a laugh.

He often dealt with these Hall Masters and was very familiar with them, so he spoke quite casually.

”Grand Steward, you’re really underestimating our intelligence with that statement. Do you really think we would believe you?” the red-faced Hall Master rolled his eyes, feigning anger.

”Min Huo Hall Master, that would be falsely accusing me!” Chang Huan laughed, ”In front of you, how could I dare to lie?”

Certainly, Chang Huan’s discretion was impeccable. Had it not been, he wouldn’t have become the Holy Master’s confidante or the Grand Steward of the Holy Palace.
