The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 785: Chapter 785: Don’t Be Sad

Xia Qingcheng stood up and said to them, ”You should rest now. Dinner will be sent over, and I will come back tomorrow.”

After saying so much, she wondered if they could accept it.

But who can truly accept such things?

Many events that happen to others are impossible to truly empathize with.

It was just like back then with Ling’er, when she buried her father with her own ten bloodied fingers, just like when she told him, ”I will never forgive you for the rest of my life.” At that moment, he knew she must have been in extreme pain and hatred to the utmost. Yet, he could never fathom such a heart.

So all he could do was watch her leave. At that time, any explanation was so weak and powerless.

Who was right and who was wrong? It’s really hard to say.

If back then he hadn’t softened his heart to save her, letting her perish in that disaster, she wouldn’t have experienced that ultimate pain, wouldn’t have the life her father exchanged with his own, and wouldn’t have been tormented between life and death, leaving her father’s spirit unpeaceful.

But as the Clan Leader of the Xia Clan, every clansperson was his responsibility. He couldn’t just watch his clansperson die before him and do nothing when he could save them.

So who can definitively say what’s right or wrong?

It’s just that the innocent, unavoidably involved, suffered.

After Xia Qingcheng left, Han Jing and the others didn’t say a word for a long time.

It wasn’t because they developed a tender feeling towards Xia Ji after hearing the story, but because they hadn’t expected such things to have happened to her.

Han Jing considered... if it were her, she might not be able to bear it either.

Her father, whom she depended on for survival, died just like that. At the time, Xia Ji must have been in unbearable pain as well.

To use a non-metaphor kind of example, if she knew Su Yaogeng risked his life to save hers and died himself, she would probably hate the person who saved her as well; it might have been better to have died. She absolutely wouldn’t be able to accept such a thing and might have gone crazy.

But regardless, she wouldn’t be twisted enough to abuse her own children.

Xia Ji is indeed pitiful, but precisely because of her pitifulness, she is also hatefully so.

Han Jing didn’t pity her; she just felt it’s truly destiny’s game. Why are the innocent like Su Yu ultimately affected by their elder generation’s grievances?

Lan Ling consciously walked out, leaving the space for only Han Jing and Su Yu.

Han Jing hugged Su Yu’s arm, leaning her head on his thigh, looking up at him: ”Are you sad?”

Su Yu habitually played with her hair: ”Sad about what?”

Han Jing...

”Well... not really anything.”

”Ha,” Su Yu chuckled softly, reaching out to pinch her cheek, ”Were you going to say, don’t feel sad, that originally I was someone who shouldn’t exist? After all, if it weren’t for me, maybe after Xia Ji left, she might have found new joy in life, not seeing me and thinking of what happened, eventually becoming psychologically twisted? Or were you going to say, don’t be sad, that I’m someone neither my father nor my mother loves, just a mistake?”

Han Jing...

Su Yu sighed, ”I am indeed quite sad.”

Han Jing was about to comfort him with a few soft words, but... where should she even start? Before she could think it through, Su Yu spoke first.

”So... can Jing’er comfort me a little?” Su Yu looked at Han Jing with a gentle gaze.
