The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 783: Chapter 783: Xia Ji’s Past (2)

After a long time, Xia Qingcheng continued: ”That person... is her father.”

This time, Han Jing and the others found it particularly unbelievable.

”Ling’er was a lively and cheerful girl when she was little, very likable, with many playmates in the clan. She was beautiful, and many young men admired her. But aside from cultivation, she had no other thoughts. The Xia Clan rarely married outside the clan, so... probably for this reason, offspring dwindled, with many congenital disabilities, as well as early deaths. Cultivation can prolong life, but it can’t cure certain untreatable illnesses.”

”Ling’er’s mother died in childbirth, and when she was very young, she relied heavily on her father. Her father... was congenitally disabled, with a leg that made walking difficult and not in good health, so he did not cultivate. Before Ling’er was discovered as the Holy Daughter, their days as father and daughter were very hard. It wasn’t until Ling’er was six years old, when she was identified as the new Holy Daughter and moved to the Holy Maiden Palace, that their lives improved. During those previous six years, how they depended on each other, nobody knows. Thus, the bond between father and daughter was very deep.”

”After Ling’er became the Holy Daughter and entered the Holy Maiden Palace, she gradually became familiar with the outstanding youths in the clan. However, many still mocked her father as a cripple. She never minded this, remaining proud of having a father who loved her dearly. Yet, her father, to prevent others from gossiping, specifically came to ask me to let him guard the mausoleum. The Mausoleum of the Xia Clan is located in the north, somewhat remote but very quiet, where those who go to guard are usually some elders without much ability, to help with some cleaning tasks. Ling’er couldn’t resist her father, and so she agreed.”

”After that, her father went to the mausoleum, and Ling’er devoted herself to cultivation even more fiercely. Soon, she became an outstanding member of the clan’s youths, reaching the White Flame Level at just twenty, just a step away from the Divine Level. That step didn’t take her long either; in five years, she cultivated to the peak of the White Flame Level. As long as she endured the final Divine Tribulation, she could break through to the Divine Level, fulfilling the Xia Clan’s thousands of years of Suyuan.”

What Xia Qingcheng said left Han Jing and the others extremely astonished—reaching the White Flame Level at twenty, cultivating to the peak of White Flame Level by twenty-five, just a step away from Divine Level.

Such a freakish cultivation speed was more impressive than having cheats!

Originally, they thought Su Yu was extraordinary, but unexpectedly, the truly remarkable person wasn’t Su Yu but Xia Ji!

She truly stood at the peak!

So... could it be that she failed during the Divine Tribulation and thus became mentally twisted?

”The Divine Tribulation took place at Tianqing Pool in West Mountain. I and several elders personally guarded her. Her father worried about her and also went to Tianqing Pool. That night, almost the entire Xia Clan was praying, because if she overcame the Divine Tribulation, the entire Xia Clan would usher in a new change. You have seen the Xia Clan’s clan rules, probably finding many peculiarities, not like clan rules but more like a curse. However, no one can defy them unless someone can change these clan rules.”
