The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 541: Chapter 541: Do I Really Look Like Her?

Qin Shutong was obviously surprised for a moment, but immediately asked: ”Is it the Lian family of the Duke Jing’s Mansion?”

The aristocratic families in the Capital City... there was probably no one more knowledgeable than him, yet, he was always suspicious of the identity of the woman in front of him. Why would she be looking for someone from the Lian family?

Han Jing shook her head: ”I don’t know either. I only know that the person I’m looking for is called Lian Xichen. Have you heard of him?”

They were completely unaware of the aristocratic families of Yanjing City. Now chatting with Qin Shutong was also for gathering information about Lian Xichen, so Han Jing didn’t know whether Lian Xichen had any connection with Duke Jing’s Mansion.

”Ah, that must be it.” Qin Shutong smiled and said, ”Lian Xichen is the seventh young master of the Lian family and now the Marquis Yingwei. He has been stationed at Donghai Jingbian for many years, but as it happens, he is currently in the Capital City. The elderly lady of the Lian family passed away a few days ago, so he returned for the funeral.”

Han Jing...

The seventh young master of Duke Jing’s Mansion? Marquis Yingwei? So easy to find out? And he happens to be in the Capital City now? But... ouch, it seems he’s not coming at the right time at all.

Han Jing asked a bit awkwardly: ”His mother died?”

Qin Shutong was choked by Han Jing’s startling question: ”The elderly lady of the Lian family was Xichen’s grandmother. His mother... I’m an old acquaintance of Xichen, and if Miss Han wishes to see him, I can arrange it for you.”

Han Jing...

For no reason, is this person being too enthusiastic? Could it be... he knows Han Litong? Does he think she must have some connection with Han Litong? But that can’t be right. This person looks at most thirty years old. She heard from Lan Ling that five years ago, Han Qingjue was already nineteen, and Han Litong is Han Qingjue’s mother, so now... Han Litong must be at least in her forties! So, there’s no way this Qin Shutong could be an old acquaintance of Han Litong, right?

Han Jing thought she might as well ask about Han Litong first.

”In that case... thank you, Mr. Qin. Do you have time tomorrow, Mr. Qin? If you do, would it be convenient to meet here in the afternoon? Because we have just arrived and haven’t arranged accommodation, so... it’s inconvenient to tell you our place for now. I hope you understand. May I trouble you to introduce us?” Han Jing politely reached out to Qin Shutong.

Qin Shutong was very concerned and asked: ”It’s no trouble at all, Miss Han, you don’t have to worry. But... hasn’t Miss Han arranged a place to stay yet? I have several courtyards in the capital. If Miss Han doesn’t mind, you can stay there for now.”

Han Jing quickly waved her hand: ”No need, it’s really too much trouble for Mr. Qin.”

Seeing Han Jing insist, Qin Shutong did not force the issue.

Han Jing took the opportunity to ask: ”Mr. Qin said I look like someone you know, may I know who this person is? Do I really look like them?”

Qin Shutong looked at Han Jing’s completely bewildered expression and couldn’t help but laugh: ”Very much so, but... it was more than twenty years ago, that person... was considered an elder of mine!”

Because he couldn’t explain it clearly, whether she was a stepmother or step-grandmother, Consort Li married his imperial grandfather as part of a diplomatic marriage, yet the several princes, including his father, all eyed him covetously. After his imperial grandfather passed, his father forcibly took Consort Li as a consort, and this also harmed the Ninth Imperial Uncle. It was a tangled love affair that couldn’t be unraveled.
