Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1800: Chapter 1802: Successor

Cheng Su quickly composed herself and dove into work and her new studies, while Qiulan, who was pregnant, needed a transfer, and the restaurant staff were correspondingly promoted.

Of course, the restaurant’s team is relatively mature now, with a department head for each area. Whom to promote is naturally up to them to assess, and it doesn’t need to go through Cheng Su. She, as the big boss, just wants a result.

After holding a meeting with everyone to discuss the restaurant’s development and personnel matters, Cheng Su stopped managing things and handed everything over to those below, while Qiulan officially transferred to the logistics department.

Old Song learned Cheng Su’s intentions from his daughter-in-law and specially sought her out, saying, ”Qiulan has talked to me, and you’re giving her some kind of maternity leave. It’s actually not necessary to do so.”

”This isn’t set up just for her alone. I plan to do it this way in the future. Anyone in the logistics department who gives birth will have maternity leave,” Cheng Su replied with a smile. ”Our restaurant needs to grow and become strong, and the system must be more mature. We can’t chill our employees’ hearts.”

Old Song listened and didn’t argue further. After cooperating for many years, he understood Cheng Su well; once she decides something, it usually isn’t changed.

Cheng Su then said, ”I still haven’t congratulated you on becoming a grandpa.”

Old Song smiled and said, ”Thank you. I can finally have something to tell my late wife.”

”You can’t say that now; your good fortune lies ahead!” Cheng Su laughed.

Old Song said, ”Thanks for your blessing.” He looked at her face, finding her more gentle and mature compared to years ago, and sighed, ”Four or five years have passed in a flash, and the scene when I first came to your little restaurant is still vivid in my mind!”

Cheng Su picked up her teacup, smelling the fragrance of the tea, and said, ”Absolutely, now the little restaurant has turned into a big restaurant, thanks to your leadership of the old crew.”

”You said you’d do it in two years, and you did!” Old Song laughed.

Cheng Su’s lips curled into a sly smile, ”Actually, when I said it back then, I was quite anxious, fearing I’d be bragging without achieving it!”

Old Song burst into hearty laughter, ”But, the facts proved you weren’t just bragging.”

The two exchanged another smile.

”By the way, how is Deng Weixia doing?” Cheng Su asked.

Having been away from Qing City for two months, she didn’t know how things were going with their family.

”The kid has some talent and is quite dedicated. He can now make a small pot, and if he keeps it up, he might master it in the future.” Old Song replied.

Cheng Su nodded and said, ”Keep an eye out; if you notice potential, train up a few more. Our restaurant shouldn’t just stay at this scale. If it wants to expand and excel, the production side will rely on you!”

Old Song understood her meaning; he himself was gradually getting older and should have retired long ago, though he was still re-employed.

But as people age, they won’t always be useful. If he doesn’t train successors, when he indeed leaves someday, what will become of the restaurant’s business?

Previously, he could ignore it, but now, the Song family holds a ten percent stake; he can’t just let it deteriorate as it would also affect his own interests.

He soon would have a grandson, and he must consider more for future generations.

”Don’t worry, I’ll find an appropriate successor.” Old Song said.

Seeing that he understood her, Cheng Su was relieved. It wasn’t that she sought profit, but as a boss, she had many considerations, let alone the fact that this restaurant was tied to many people’s livelihoods, so it had to keep thriving.
