Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1795: Chapter 1797: Setbacks

Old Master Cheng didn’t say much about Cheng Su’s dream, he just told Cheng Yaozu to pay more attention to the child Cheng Su was sponsoring.

As for Cheng Su, she didn’t say much either. She spent the entire summer vacation busy and taking care of the child, and as the holiday was about to end, most things were settled, and she prepared to return to Qing City.

Before leaving, she still asked Cheng Yaozu if there was any news about the hitman, but there wasn’t. It was as if the person had vanished into thin air, couldn’t be found, and even Ning Ge hadn’t found anything; they could only set it aside for the time being.

Even though things weren’t going smoothly for Cheng Su, everything was still considered in order, and on Qi Taiguo’s side, things were similarly not too smooth.

At this moment, Qi Taiguo was lying in the military medical office, a military doctor was changing the dressing on his leg. When the bandage was removed, the calf was a bloody mess, frightening to behold.

“We’ll need to cleanse and debride it again, the medicine will sting a bit, Battalion Commander Qi, please bear with it.” The military doctor said as he prepared the disinfectant solution for cleansing the wound, he added, “The weather is so hot, if the wound isn’t handled properly, it would be very troublesome.”

Qi Taiguo looked at his foot and said, “No problem, go ahead, I can take it.”

The military doctor nodded, soaked a cotton ball in the solution, Qi Taiguo turned his eyes away, but shortly after, he felt a sharp and piercing pain.

It really hurt so much!

The reason for the condition of this leg has to be talked about the mission a few days ago.

According to the intelligence provided, he led a team in cooperation with the border department to capture traffickers. The intelligence was prepared, and naturally, the mission went smoothly. That small fishing boat, in the fish hold, was packed with people of all sizes, eating, drinking, and defecating all in there, the stench was overwhelming.

In the Great Xia summer, it was already stuffy hot, and being at sea made it more humid and hot. Those smugglers were not allowed any fresh air, if someone got sick, vomiting, or diarrhea, there was no treatment, and if unfortunate, it was simply death, dragged out and thrown into the sea.

Most of the smugglers had been suffocated for days and nights, no longer looking human, it was said some even died along the way, and there were young and beautiful girls pulled out to accompany the boss, if they didn’t comply, the same end of being thrown into the sea awaited.

Unwillingly? With a heart to change destiny and rise up, they boarded the ship, so no matter what they did, they could only comply in the end.

There was no choice, besides compliance, was life more important or chastity?

So when Qi Taiguo saw some young women, their expressions were lethargic, as if their souls had been emptied, leaving only a walking corpse.

Worse still, due to being unable to accept the repatriation outcome, some angrily jumped into the sea, because just a little time more, they could reach that dreamed Heaven, enduring for so long, only to be intercepted and sent back, who could accept it?

And Qi Taiguo’s leg was injured rescuing a young woman who couldn’t think straight and jumped into the sea, scraped by a propeller, and a piece of flesh was cut off.

Is wealth and money so important, even at the cost of life?

Qi Taiguo sighed.

“Alright. The medicine has been changed, but still can’t get wet, otherwise it will fester. Also, no seafood, these are irritants, not good for wound recovery.” The military doctor’s words interrupted Qi Taiguo’s memories.

“Thank you.” Qi Taiguo smiled slightly.

The military doctor said a polite word, then called the messenger who was waiting in the medical room to help Qi Taiguo back to his dormitory to rest.
