Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1791: Chapter 1793: We’ve Got Talent

Chapter 1793: A Talented Person Arrives

Cheng Su returned to Guangcheng and threw herself back into work. The business of the Seafood Shop needed managing. There were technically enough employees now, but Qi Jianguo and Yu Qingjiu were only there for summer jobs. Once school started, they would need to return to their studies, and she herself would have to go back to Qing City.

This meant the shop would be understaffed, with only two clerks remaining. She needed to hire a store manager, otherwise, who would take care of the shop’s affairs once everyone left?

The Seafood Shop was a significant investment, and the seafood supplements were rather valuable. It was crucial to find someone reliable, preferably with experience. Therefore, the job posting Cheng Su put up was more demanding than a typical clerk position—local candidates with experience were preferred.

The notice was up for five days; Cheng Su interviewed several people, both men and women. But when asked about handling various shop scenarios, their responses were full of loopholes and not very promising.

Just as Cheng Su was getting a headache, Old Master Cheng recommended someone to her.

Zhan Qin, a 28-year-old man standing at 1.8 meters, reportedly studied finance and economics abroad and had an acute sensitivity to numbers.

As Cheng Su chatted with him about business, she found his insights incredibly unique and refreshing. It brought her joy, but also a pang of anxiety.

To have such a talent helping her—was she underutilizing him?

“Well… my shop is just a small place. Would taking care of it be beneath you? With your abilities, you’d be more than capable of helping my Second Brother Cheng,” Cheng Su said nervously.

Cheng Yaozong’s business was growing ever larger; such talent would be more useful there, and his skills could really be put to good use.

Zhan Qin laughed and said, “Wherever the Old Master sends me, I go. I only listen to him. As for feeling undervalued—it’s nothing. If you need me, that’s all that matters.” He paused and added, “But I do have a quirky temper. If you’re willing to use me, then everything in the shop will have to follow my way, whether it’s staffing or some decisions. If you’re using me, you have to trust me.”

Cheng Su smiled and said, “Naturally.”

Zhan Qin raised an eyebrow: “You’re willing to hire me?”

“Why not? I’d be thrilled to have a few more talents like you,” Cheng Su slyly smiled.

“But like I mentioned, if you hire me, you must trust me. In fact, this is also my first time handling things post-graduation; I don’t know how I’ll perform. It could very well result in a loss,” Zhan Qin stated. “Your shop has an investment of at least tens of thousands, right? If it ends up losing…”

Cheng Su replied, “Business always comes with losses and gains. Just because I manage it myself doesn’t ensure profits; there’s also a big chance of losses, especially since this is my first venture into the seafood business.”

Zhan Qin listened, gaining a bit of respect, and said, “If it does lose…”

“Then we start over. Of course, losing isn’t for nothing; paying tuition means we have to learn something. Losses would mean lost goods and wages, but the shop will still be there, no problem,” Cheng Su shrugged and said.

Zhan Qin laughed heartily: “With you saying that, you’ve set the expectation of losing right from the start.”

Cheng Su looked innocent: “Isn’t this what you said? I’m just aligning with you so as not to put extra pressure on you or make you abandon me.”

Zhan Qin raised an eyebrow: “Given that, I truly need to deliver some results for you.”

“Exactly. Since the Old Master sent you to help me, you surely wouldn’t want to let him down, right?” Cheng Su giggled.

Zhan Qin smiled without speaking, but his eyes were full of pride.

Cheng Su, however, felt at ease.
