The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 398: Present that Arrived

”...Mama Grimm...what is that?” Azazel asks me confusedly as she observes a jar Iʼm holding.

”...Daughter, this is a gift I recently received. I was sealing it in this jar so it wouldnʼt spoil,” I say with an immense smile.

”It smells like Mama Pandoru, is it from Mama Pandoru? Did she give you a present too?” She asks, confused and curious.

”Ah yes, itʼs definitely from Pandora. Well, itʼs not exactly a ʼpresent,ʼ but it did come from her,” I say without holding back the excitement in my voice. This here is Pandoraʼs arm I randomly received it.

Of course, it wasnʼt unexpected. I see the future, so I know she created a spell and sacrificed her arm in exchange for a temporary increase in her ability to manipulate blood.

And of course, the moment she sacrificed something for a being that exists, itʼs normal for that something to be sent to the being she sacrificed something of herself to through the magic. And since her magic was to sacrifice something for me, I ended up receiving her arm.

Although what arrived was just a pool of deformed flesh and blood. The arm couldnʼt withstand the instability of the magic, so it became completely deformed, turning into this ”porridge” of flesh and blood that I stored in several jars.

”Daughter, doesnʼt this bother you to see?” I ask curiously, bringing the jar closer to her. She looks confused.

”No?” When she says no, I feel slightly happy.

ʼI see...the hybridization seems to have broken the perfect genetics of Pandoraʼs race.ʼ Pandora would never want to see a fresh piece of flesh from the Goddess of the Abyss. Seeing a detached piece of the motherʼs body while itʼs still fresh means that she is wounded.

But for Azazel, even seeing Pandoraʼs fresh blood and flesh doesnʼt have that automatic association. Which is good, because as a vampire who even feeds on my blood, she doesnʼt have the same understanding of wounds that Pandora has in relation to family members.

ʼOf course, she would be like me.ʼ I caress Azazelʼs head as I open the jar to conduct tests.

”Smell, daughter. What do you feel when you smell this?” I say, placing the jar right near her nose. The first reaction is her pupils contracting as she sniffs the blood.

”It has a good smell, and it smells like Mama Pandoru,” she responds, still without showing any disgust.

ʼWould she...eat it?ʼ The basic food of vampires is blood, and it is natural for the mother to feed the child with her own blood in some situations, although I have milk and milk serves in the beginning, I also give my blood to Azazel for her to eat.

Thatʼs why Iʼm curious, have her vampire instincts overcome the natural repulsion of Pandoraʼs race to eat parts of the ”mother”? Pandora herself feels ill and canʼt really swallow a piece of the Goddess of the Abyss.

So, what about my daughter? She is of the same race, but only has half of Pandoraʼs genes, being only half a Tenebris Abyssus.

”Do you feel strange when you smell or see this?”

”No, itʼs just Mama Pandoruʼs blood, right?” She says, and I agree.

”Do you want to try a little?” I ask, offering the jar to her. For a moment I see hesitation in her gaze, but in the end, the instinct of a vampire speaks louder.

”I want to!” She says with a big smile as I offer the jar to her, which she eagerly holds. Anyway, this is just one of the 10 jars I have of this.

If she drinks it all, itʼs no problem, Iʼll still have 9 more, after all, itʼs a whole arm that gave a lot of blood and flesh.

”...” Azazel quickly tilts the jar to her mouth and starts drinking, while I watch. If she starts to feel sick, Iʼll pass out and use magic to clean her stomach.

”Hmmm” She finishes drinking the entire jar in seconds, and nothing seems different.

”How do you feel, daughter?”

”It was delicious! But your blood is better,” she leaves me surprised by this statement, I even feel a little embarrassed since itʼs the first time Iʼve really surpassed Pandora in something.

”G-Great, daughter,” I grab her in a hug and lift her as I start to take her with me.

”Why did Mama Pandoru give you her blood?” She asks, letting her childish curiosity show.

”Ah, daughter, she didnʼt really give me her blood. She made an exchange, youʼre learning about magic, right? Remember what I showed you about non-elemental magics related to organic matter?” Pandora never learned this concept, and itʼs important for blood magic, among others of its kind.

”Oh, the one that says magics that are literally organic matter are always connected to something living, and we can sacrifice things to temporarily increase the capabilities of something?” She summarizes it very poorly.

ʼHaa...Iʼll have to put her to study more intensely.ʼ

”Almost, daughter. It happens that magics of this type are generally already connected to a ʼgreaterʼ being, 100% of everything that exists is connected to the primordial goddess, who is your grandmother.”

”But just because everything is connected to her doesnʼt mean that lesser beings donʼt also have great connections to specific elements.”

”In the case of blood magic, Iʼm the being with the highest degree of affinity and control that exists, and naturally, because of the great power I have, anyone who uses blood magic, if they want to, can use my influence to have more power.”

”So if theyʼre using blood magic, they can sacrifice things to me in exchange for a temporary power boost, think of it as a vein through which blood flows.”

”In exchange for me receiving something, I give something in return, it happens automatically, but itʼs very useful for receiving certain types of ʼdonations,ʼ like in Pandoraʼs case, who gave me something of hers in exchange for more control over the blood.”

”Itʼs so confusing,” she says, pouting, not understanding.

ʼ...ʼ

”Daughter, you know that Pandora is the demon king, right?”

”Yes!! Mama Pandoru is a king!” She immediately gets excited.

”Exactly, she is a king...but because she is a demon king, and a daughter of the Abyss, she naturally has affinity with any element or magic...but even she has elements that she can naturally extract more power from.”

”Oh, really?”

”Yes, and since Pandora is also a...goddess, she ends up having the same thing I have with the blood element, that is, if you sacrifice something in Pandoraʼs name, youʼll be able to use chaos magic more easily.” Pandora doesnʼt even know this.

But if someone wants to use chaos magic, they can make a sacrifice by sending something to Pandora in exchange for receiving this power boost in the chaos element. Itʼs automatic, so Pandora will only notice if someone does it.

”OHHHH!!” Azazel makes a look of complete surprise followed by a cute little smile that shows her fangs.

”Thatʼs so amazing!” She says, all excited.

”More or less, daughter. Yes, itʼs amazing that Pandora already has influence over the entire chaos element...” The Goddess of the Abyss also has it, and the Goddess of the Abyss can provide much more power than Pandora can currently, so itʼs not even worth sacrificing things to Pandora, depending on what you want.

Sacrificing things to the Goddess of the Abyss is more expensive, but will give more power, while sacrificing things to Pandora is cheaper, but will give much less power, so itʼs all a matter of necessity.

”Daughter, sacrificing things just to use a little more of an element is not a good thing, itʼs practically a last resort used in life-or-death situations.” The cost is always horrible.

”Itʼs very costly depending on what you want, and sometimes the sacrifice is something that will cause you problems in the future, depending on your race.” Pandora, for example, just got very lucky that her race has a lot of regeneration.

If it was any other race, Pandora could never have regenerated that arm, but as a Tenebris Abyssus and her race naturally has high regeneration, she was able to recover the arm, emerging only with permanent damage due to the disrupted mana path.

Unfortunately, even I canʼt heal that, since itʼs not a wound to the body. If I could heal Pandora, I could blackmail her to do many things.

ʼDamn, I have so much bad luck...ʼ Unfortunately, when Pandora was wounded in that bed, I couldnʼt go there to see her and take advantage of the situation, because I donʼt like leaving Azazel far from me.

But I also couldnʼt let Azazel see Pandora or she would lose control, this also reminds me that Iʼm extremely angry with Pandora.

ʼThat bitch is throwing that obsessive spoiled behavior at my daughterʼ I bite so hard that it makes a loud cracking sound, as if metal was scraping against metal.

”M-Mama?” Azazel says, looking at my face. I give her a small smile, trying to hide my anger as my fingers close tightly.

”Itʼs nothing, daughter...” Eclipsya is obviously obsessed with my daughter, and Pandora, instead of stopping her, is encouraging her.

ʼDamn, Pandora is selling my daughter to her other daughter!! What a pathetic mother!! How dare she!ʼ Itʼs not like Eclipsya wouldnʼt be an adequate partner, both in nobility and in race, Eclipsya would be a good partner for Azazel.

However, still...I feel a damn jealousy of that brat who is planning to steal my daughter from me in the future.

I see the future and understand that Pandora, as the mother of the two, canʼt really choose a side, so she just threw the problem into the future to let the two resolve it, without caring about the fact that Eclipsya wants to steal Azazel from me.

ʼThis wonʼt end like this, Pandora! Iʼll make you regret this decision! Iʼll make you apologize and maybe even cry apologizing for making this stupid decision!ʼ One way or another, Iʼll make Pandora pay for encouraging Eclipsya to try to be with Azazel.

She could at least have set clearer limits, but all she said was to wait until the two were adults! Implying that Eclipsya can do whatever she wants to steal Azazel from me.

ʼI donʼt accept that your daughter wants to steal my daughter!ʼ I already feel angry just imagining that gloomy brat calling my cute Azazel ”wife.”

Azazel, noticing my anger, caresses my face as I pretend to be calm. Normally I would eliminate the source of my anger, but Eclipsya is Pandoraʼs daughter, and if I kill her without a doubt, Pandora will end our marriage and hate me irreversibly.

ʼDamn, itʼs so horrible to love Pandora as much as itʼs good to love her, she fills me with these confusing feelings.ʼ I love her a lot, but itʼs precisely because I love her so much that my life has become this mess.

”Daughter, promise me that when you get married, you wonʼt leave me aside!” I say to Azazel, who looks at me confused, not understanding my motherly jealousy, but still gives me a sweet smile.

”I promise, Mama~!” She says sweetly, which helps to partially dispel my anger.
