CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 622: Chapter 630: Became a Widow Early

Jane Sampson lay in the bed, pretending to be dead for quite a while before she finally sat up again and picked up her mobile phone to check the time, only to find that ten minutes had passed.

Clutching her mobile phone, Jane considered that after ten minutes had gone by, someone like James Black, with his terrible temper, should have left by now, right? With that thought, she got down from the bed, cautiously opened the bedroom door, and crept towards the doorway, peeking through the peephole to check outside the door.

Hmm, she saw no one.

Jane figured that he must have left by now.

Bomb threat neutralized.

She opened the main gate, first sticking her head out to take a look around before stepping out to survey her surroundings.

Hmm, indeed, there was no one.

James Black had left.

It was a situation that could both delight and distress someone.

What distressed her was how she would coax James Black?

Standing there, Jane sighed heavily, just about to turn back when suddenly, a familiar voice came from behind the door.

”Looking for me?”

James Black’s voice, neither light nor heavy, came from behind the door, setting off alarm bells in Jane’s heart!

Dammit! Level 10 alert! Level 10 alert!

Jane grabbed the door, spun around, and attempted to close it, but this time James Black was quicker. He reached out and grabbed the door, and no matter how hard Jane pulled, it wouldn’t budge.

Give up! Relocate the battlefield!

Jane let go and turned to run inside!

James Black was quicker, his arm shot out, directly pulling her back, and then firmly pinned her under his armpit, ”Trying to lock me out again?”

Jane flailed wildly, her mind filled with just three capitalized words.

Doomed!

Doomed!!

She could smell smoke on him; he had been smoking in the ten minutes that she had locked him out!

As far as Jane remembered, the last time James Black smoked was when she had angered him so much that he wouldn’t even speak to her, and it took her a lot of effort to coax him into forgiving her.

This time, with her hand not broken, acting pitiful was no use.

Done for, she hadn’t come up with a plan, and now she was already in his clutches!

James Black clamped her under his arm all the way to the door, lifted his foot to close the main gate, then switched his shoes and carried her in, tossing her onto the sofa with a force that was not remotely gentle.

The moment Jane’s body hit the sofa, she scrambled to get up and run, but James Black was standing right next to her, so as soon as she got up, he pushed her back down.

”Struggling in vain, wasting energy, utterly pointless,” James Black said as he watched the person he pressed back onto the sofa, offering three idioms.

Jane thought to herself, logically that made sense, but if she didn’t at least try to escape, she would never be satisfied.

”You’re just worked up right now, don’t be impulsive. Let’s have a proper talk,” Jane, realizing escape was futile, quickly tried to reason with James, ”Just calm down first.”

”I’m not angry,” James Black said evenly, stating the fact.

However, Jane didn’t believe him, not one bit.

Look at that! Does he look like he isn’t angry with that expressionless demeanor as he speaks?

It’s terrifying! The angrier he gets, the less expression he shows; that’s the real James Black!

We’re doomed! Doomed!

He was even driven to smoke in frustration.

James lifted Jane’s feet and placed them on the side of the sofa, then sat where her feet had been a moment earlier. Glancing over at the take-out bag on the dining table, he returned his gaze to Jane’s face.

After a few seconds of silence, he finally began to speak, ”If I had that little patience, you’d be a widow by now.”

What he meant was, if he was so easily angered by his limited patience, he would have been driven to death by Jane long ago.
