Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1213 - 725: Fondness for Authenticity

Lu Dongdong stepped forward and pulled up the crying Nanny Lu: ”Mom, please don’t cry. I have something I want to ask you.”

”Mom will go make food for you right away.” Nanny Lu cried in a daze, seemingly unclear about what her son said, and staggered towards the kitchen.

Lu Dongdong pushed Nanny Lu down onto the sofa: ”Mom, we’re not in a hurry to eat; besides, we can’t eat right now. Please sit down, let’s have a talk.”

Lu Qingqing wiped her tears, went to the bathroom for a cold towel, and handed it to her mother: ”Mom, wipe your face.”

Wen Su stood up: ”I’ll cook, you all can talk.” Lu Dongdong held him down: ”Old Wen, if you’re hungry, could you wait a little longer? Sorry.”

Wen Su pulled him aside: ”Old Lu, I’m not hungry, but look at Auntie’s condition. She’s probably been upset since she got the news.

If this continues, how will her body withstand it? You siblings should have a good talk with Auntie. I’ll see what’s in the fridge and cook something, don’t worry, my cooking isn’t that bad.”

”Old Wen!” Lu Dongdong patted his back forcefully, unsure what to say. Previously, he didn’t know the true background of Wen Su, which is why he felt at ease calling him a brother and even introduced him to his beloved sister, judging that their families were well-matched from Wen Su’s spending and attire.

It wasn’t until his sister visited the Wen Family that he realized, if not for being classmates, he probably would never have the right to stand on equal footing with the other. After knowing the truth, he felt uneasy for a while and subtly reminded Wen Su that if being with his sister wasn’t appropriate, he shouldn’t force himself for his sake.

He felt the other seemed to accept his suggestion. Thus, during that time, he watched his sister’s mood closely, preparing for everything.

However, what he awaited was Wen Su telling him he decided to be with Lu Qingqing and said he didn’t like her before because of her affectation, but now liked her for her sincerity.

He said these things the day before yesterday, and at that time, he decided, no matter the outcome with his sister and Wen Su, he would always treat him as a brother.

Today, Wen Su joined them in stepping onto Yuanzhou’s land. This act made him feel treating him as a brother wasn’t enough, so he suggested entering the Wen Family.

But now, is he really going to cook for them, the distinguished second young master of the Wen Family, cooking for them? This made him feel being a brother or a loyal subordinate wasn’t sufficient. But what else could he give?

Thinking over all of this didn’t take long; Wen Su had already slapped him on the back, pushed him aside, and went straight to the kitchen. Standing there in a daze, he forgot his original intention.

It wasn’t pretentiousness, but he knew from having classmates among other wealthy families, how distant they truly were!

Lu Qingqing went up and quizzically looked at her brother’s dazed face, shaking his arm: ”Has Wen Su cooking a meal shocked you this much, brother?”

Evidently, Lu Qingqing didn’t consider Wen Su cooking a meal as anything out of place.

”Qingqing...” Lu Dongdong frowned, holding back words of reprimand for his sister; now wasn’t the time to say such things. Let’s resolve the family issue first.

”Brother, at a time like this, cooking a meal is the right thing to do.” Lu Qingqing tugged Lu Dongdong towards the sofa.

Once convinced she was unworthy of him, now having confirmed the other’s intentions, she took on the stance of a hostess. Lu Dongdong sighed softly, determined to find a chance to have a good talk with his sister.

Once the siblings settled, they found their mother had fallen asleep in that short time, clearly unable to hold on upon seeing her children return.

Lu Qingqing sighed, went to the bedroom for a thick blanket to cover her mother, and frowned: ”Such a big issue arises, yet no one from the mine comes to stay with mom—it’s too much. No, I’ll find Zan Wenxing!”

”Qingqing!” Lu Dongdong grabbed his sister, ”Things aren’t clear yet. If you go find him now, can you make a case? How about I go ask Uncle Sun next door what’s going on, and you go help Wen Su cook.”

”Brother, I’ll go with you.”

”Listen!” Lu Dongdong glared at his sister and lowered his voice, ”Qingqing, there are some things brother will explain to you later. Just listen to me—go help out quickly.”

”Alright.” Lu Qingqing pouted, unwillingly heading to the kitchen. A glimpse at the dishes Wen Su had prepared left her stunned and tongue-tied, ”Oh my, have you... you trained as a chef?”
