Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 566: Chapter 341: Arrival at A Military Academy

The next morning, Luo Ye hurriedly delivered breakfast to Yu Wenze. At the door, she checked the lunchbox holding the porridge and was relieved it was still hot before knocking on the door.

Professor Yu Wen has a peculiar temper. The last time she brought breakfast, she was chatting with Xing Nong along the way. By the time she arrived, the porridge was lukewarm, and Professor Yu Wen insisted she drink it all up and fetch him a scalding new serving...

The door opened, and there stood Yu Wenze in a military green long-sleeve sweatshirt and camouflage trousers, steam still rising from his head, who took the lunchbox from Luo Ye and nodded with satisfaction, ”Hmm, today’s good. Keep it this way.”

”Yes.”

”Bang!”

Luo Ye stared as the door closed before she could speak. She hadn’t even had the chance to mention that she needed to take leave!

”Knock knock knock...”

The door opened again, and Yu Wenze stood there, looking puzzled, ”Anything else?”

”Professor Yu Wen, I am the host for the New Year’s Day performance, and I need to go to Division A for rehearsals. I won’t be back these few days. Regarding breakfast...”

Yu Wenze nodded, ”Okay, keep track of it. After the performance ends, we’ll extend the days you owe.”

”Yes!” Luo Ye responded and turned to leave.

As Yu Wenze closed the door again, he went back to lifting dumbbells. Sitting on the sofa, a middle-aged couple—Yu Wenze’s parents—exchanged glances and shook their heads. With his temperament, how has he adapted to military discipline?

Yu Wen’s mother, suddenly brightening, asked, ”Son, do you like the girl who brings the meal?”

Yu Wenze looked at his mother sideways, ”Mom, if you stop worrying unnecessarily, you could live well beyond two hundred years. Don’t forget, your son is already thirty-three, and she’s just a young military college girl!”

Yu Wen’s father seriously said, ”Then why have girls deliver your meals? It’s one thing if a man delivers, but why let a girl do it?”

Yu Wenze put down the dumbbell, sighing deeply, ”Dad, Mom, this is my work-related matter. Can you please not interfere?”

”We wouldn’t want to, but you should consider the girl’s situation more. Your thinking has become westernized; don’t hurt the girl.”

Yu Wenze washed his hands and sat back at the dining table, distributing the breakfast Luo Ye brought into portions for his parents, while he himself took a piece of bread to chew, ”Mom, you and Dad came with the academic exchange group. When do you plan to return to the group?”

”You naughty boy...” Yu Wen’s mother, discontent, hit her son, ”You intentionally have students deliver just one meal to drive us away? We just arrived yesterday. What about your conscience? Conscience?”

”Alright, alright, you can stay as long as you want. Starting tomorrow, I’ll have them deliver three meals, okay?” Yu Wenze grabbed his saxophone, ”Dad, take care of your wife. I’m off to rehearsal.”

”Mom would like to watch your rehearsal; may I?” Yu Wen’s mother looked at her son eagerly.

Yu Wenze, with a headache, replied, ”Let me ask the leader. If they agree, you can come.”

Yu Wen’s mother smiled happily, ”Great, son, and ask if Jack and Rose might attend the show too. They are very interested in the Chinese military. Son, why not ask if the members of the academic exchange group can watch too?”

”This may not be possible,” Yu Wenze shook his head, refuting his offer that was just to placate his mother. Though unconventional, he was never careless in his actions.

”But try asking, they are all academics, not spies. Son...” Yu Wen’s westernized mother, wheedling, hugged his arm, while Yu Wen’s father frowned, ”Don’t force him. He’s in a military academy, in the military, now a soldier!”

”Fine.” Yu Wen’s mother sat back, visibly disappointed.

Yu Wenze thought it over and said, ”Let me ask Principal Han, but I can’t promise anything.”

”Thanks, my son!” Yu Wen’s mother rushed over to hug and kiss him, ”I knew it, my son is the best!”

”Being helpful is considered the best, but not helping means having no conscience,” Yu Wenze muttered as he peeled away his mom’s hands, ”Stop it, I need to leave.”

...

At 7 a.m., students heading for the performance boarded a bus to Division A for rehearsals. Although Luo Ye appeared cheerful on the surface, she felt somewhat uneasy.

Xing Nong nudged her, lowering her voice, ”Luoluo, you seem preoccupied.”

”Just a bit,” Luo Ye confided, whispering in her friend’s ear, ”Ye Xuan’s mother, the deputy head of the General Political Dance Troupe, has come along with the team as well.”
