Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 557: Chapter 336: Informing/Good News

Yu Wenze’s gaze swept over the faces of the four, the corners of his lips curling up: ”Finished.” As his words fell, the answers to the final question from the four candidates simultaneously switched onto the big screen.

Luo Ye and Wu Zetian’s answers were the same, a straightforward system response: ”1, Software fault, 2, Hardware fault, 3, Power not connected.”

Zhan Hao’s answer, aside from the systematic response, included detailed specifications, such as the damage to various types of hardware and contact failure of some hardware, but due to time constraints, the list was not completed.

Yu Na’s answer was the longest; in addition to systematically addressing software and hardware problems, she also enumerated potential faults for each. Due to time constraints, the list of hardware problems was not fully clarified.

”Starting today, Luo Ye and Wu Zetian will serve as my assistants during the current phase of development, while Zhan Hao and Yu Na will take charge of peripheral tasks. I will assign you some minor cases to work on.

The working hours in the lab are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 7 PM to 10 PM. In case of emergency situations, please request leave in advance.

What I can offer you is my complete knowledge and expertise. There will be no salary. Think carefully, as I do not wish to see any needless strife arise later on.”

As Yu Wenze’s words finished, Yu Na stood up: ”Reporting!”

”Speak!”

”I want to know why Professor Yu Wen made this selection. If it all depended on the final question, I admit I missed the ’power connection’ part, but Zhan Hao answered it, and he even listed the details more meticulously. Then why was he also not selected?”

”Very good.” Yu Wenze gestured for her to sit down: ”The last question was, in fact, no question at all for you four. If a real fault were presented, any one of you could quickly resolve it.

To tell the truth, all four of you have exceeded my expectations, and I am quite satisfied. But why would I present such a question at the end?

The reason is simple. The previous ninety-nine questions were designed to progressively increase in difficulty. People usually have an inert way of thinking, assuming that the final question can’t be so simple, and it must contain some hidden meaning.

However, the top talent needed in research is truly confident, not disturbed by any external factors, and skilled in articulating issues in the most succinct language.

This is also why I paused for such a long time on the last question and periodically reminded everyone to think carefully. Luo Ye and Wu Zetian were not influenced by me.

As for Zhan Hao and Yu Na, clearly, you both included superfluous information. Particularly Yu Na, you completely overlooked the simplest possibility.

What does this imply? In your mind, you regarded success and failure as too significant, which in turn stifled your thinking and affected your performance. I still chose to keep you because I value your solid foundation. I hope you will not disappoint me.”

”Yes!” Yu Na stood in agreement, her expression somewhat listless. She had truly never even considered such a blatantly obvious possibility.

”Zhan Hao, today’s breakfast was good; Luo Ye, I don’t like cold porridge, remember that.” Yu Wenze stated while packing up his items.

Luo Ye was startled, then remembered—she and Zhan Hao would be delivering breakfast to this esteemed professor for a month. She quickly responded: ”Yes!”

”Yu Na, move my materials and notebook to the office. From now on, the four of you will take turns in charge.” Yu Wenze said this and then waved his hand, leaving first.

Yu Na reluctantly moved to the podium, picked up the notebook, and followed out with the materials in her arms.

”Let’s celebrate!” Wu Zetian excitedly extended his hand, and Luo Ye slapped it: ”Joint joy!” Zhan Hao grabbed Luo Ye’s hand away and forcefully smacked Wu Zetian’s palm: ”Kid, thinking of taking advantage of my sister-in-law?”

”You, what are you even talking about?” Luo Ye wore a bitter smile and suddenly remembered that she hadn’t yet addressed Wen Ke’s request, now that the problem was also resolved, but how should she bring it up?

Noticing her furrowed brows, Wu Zetian asked with confusion: ”Luoluo, is there something bothering you?”

”Actually, there is something, and it concerns you. I don’t know how to say it.” Luo Ye looked at him, troubled.

”Just say it straight.” Wu Zetian smiled: ”Why be so formal with me?”

”Should I step out?” Zhan Hao said, then quickly dismissed the idea: ”No way, unsupervised man and woman whispering behind the scenes must be up to no good. For my brother’s sake, I can’t step out, just treat me like thin air.”

”Zhan Hao, when did you become so annoying?” Luo Ye kicked him: ”Looking for a beating, are you?”

Putting away his grin, Zhan Hao replied, ”Alright, no more jokes. So, do you want me to leave or not?”

”No need.” Luo Ye waved her hand, her expression serious as she turned to Wu Zetian: ”Old Wu, I want to ask you something, what’s your impression of my cousin Wen Ke?”
