She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 665: Chapter 691: No Longer Able to Dance

“You need a good rest,”

As the three of them spoke, the doctor began examining Hai Lan. No one knew how he managed to do it, or perhaps everyone was so distracted by Lu Haifeng that no one paid attention to the doctor. It wasn’t until Hai Lan let out a piercing scream that everyone’s attention was drawn.

“Ah… it hurts, it hurts…”

“What happened? My daughter, what’s wrong with you?” Zhou Yuan rushed over in a panic, her hands flailing.

“Oh! Her ankle was fractured and healed incorrectly, it must be broken and re-set,” the doctor said, pushing up his glasses and looking down, not daring to meet anyone’s eyes.

Lu Haifeng also pushed his way to the front, looked at the injury, and said with a tone both worried and sincere, “The fracture is indeed serious, you shouldn’t have just let her be treated in the infirmary, the medical standards here are too low. I suggest transferring her; given the Hai family’s influence, any hospital would accommodate.”

If Zhou Yuan couldn’t see there was a problem now, then she had lived all these years in vain. She glared at Lu Haifeng, her teeth clenched, and said, “Lu Haifeng, just you wait, we will not let this go so easily!”

“Aunt Zhou, what did I do wrong? Hai Lan’s injury was already very serious, it’s because you let her stay in the infirmary that her treatment was delayed. If Grandpa Hai finds out, he will be furious.”

“Hmph! I dare you to keep making excuses.”

Sheng Ning peered at Hai Lan’s injury, the ankle was deformed, and he couldn’t help but admire Lu Haifeng’s ruthless method, which was nonetheless satisfying. Hai Lan had intended to harm others but ended up harming herself instead.

She deserved it!

After leaving the infirmary, Yang Xiaoman was so scared that her face turned pale and she didn’t say a word, hurrying away as if someone was chasing her.

“Alright! I’m off to the Main Hospital to kneel before Elder Hai and admit my wrongs,” Lu Haifeng said nonchalantly.

“Will they let you off?” Sheng Ning was still worried about the Hai family’s retaliation.

“No, they won’t.”

“What? They won’t and you still took such drastic action?”

“Who saw me do it? It was clearly Yang Wenying! How can they blame me? Besides, I was only helping Hai Lan, she should be thanking me.”

Sheng Ning gave a thumbs up, “You’re ruthless!”

“I learned from both of your uncles,” Lu Haifeng said, his expression humble and even a bit shy.

“…” Well, she was speechless, and also felt that her uncles weren’t too bad after all…

“You go ahead! I’m leaving!”

“Aren’t you going to see Dabao?”

“No, she would probably be so scared she’d hide under the bed if she saw me. To avoid any unexpected issues, better not. Anyway, she has to come home for the New Year,” Lu Haifeng said with a smile as he waved his hand.

Sheng Ning watched his retreating figure, unable to imagine what it must be like to frighten Dabao into hiding under a bed.

Hai Lan was eventually rushed to the Main Hospital, and Sheng Ning didn’t pay attention to how many of the Hai family went, but heard that Mr. Hai had visited and was furious.

Then, not long after, the incident seemed to silently dissipate.

As Spring Festival was approaching and it was time for the grand celebration, the troupe resumed the practice that had been halted before. Yang Wenying, who had been suspended, due to the heavy performance tasks at hand and the indispensable need for performers, was ultimately given a warning by the Inspection Department. She temporarily assumed the position of the head of the General Union Dance Troupe, with further work arrangements to be discussed after the New Year.

Outside, the atmosphere was tense, the entire area felt highly charged. Inside Yang Wenying’s office, there was an unprecedented ease.
