She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 538: Chapter 559 How Could This Happen

Meng Xingzhi rubbed his temples, feeling a headache. He had received the news just one minute before. As soon as he had hung up the phone, his brother-in-law’s call came through. Sigh! While everyone thought his younger brother-in-law was a handful, his elder brother-in-law was even more troublesome.

”Su Jiang, the incident has already happened, what do you want to do?” Meng Xingzhi chose to be straightforward, without beating around the bush. Meng Ping had also been sent to the hospital, the blow from the Living Yama had broken four of his ribs, fortunately, his spleen was not injured, otherwise...

”From now on, keep Meng Ping away from Ningning.”

”Fine! I promise you.”

”Good!”

After hanging up, Meng Xingzhi leaned back in his chair and called out, ”Assistant.”

”Here!”

”Get the car ready, to the hospital, and inform Su Tuan to come with me.”

”Yes!”

Su Yun was originally busy arranging a performance schedule, and when she heard that Meng Xingzhi was looking for her, she was overjoyed and came out. Seeing Meng Xingzhi’s car already waiting at the door, she smiled and got in.

”Xingzhi, why are you in such a good mood today?” She took her seat in the back and snuggled up to Meng Xingzhi, her forty-something face filled with girlish charm.

Meng Xingzhi didn’t speak for a long time; he neither responded to her nor pushed her away. He just stared deeply and wisely into Su Yun’s eyes, making her heart sink.

”What’s wrong, Xingzhi? If something is on your mind, tell me!”

”Sheng Ning has been injured, she was stabbed in the abdomen.”

Su Yun opened her mouth wide in shock, murmuring in confusion, ”How could this happen? How could it?”

”Do you want to go see her?” Meng Xingzhi asked, ”After all, she is your biological daughter. Since you brought her back, you have never sought her out. Don’t you feel any guilt towards this daughter of yours?”

”I... I...” Su Yun stammered before she finally buried her face in Meng Xingzhi’s embrace, saying painfully, ”I don’t know, I actually feel very guilty, but I just can’t face her, I don’t know what’s wrong...”

”This time her injury is exactly when she needs care. It’s the perfect opportunity for you to reconcile and repair your relationship.”

”I... I...” Su Yun opened her mouth and then looked pitifully at Meng Xingzhi, ”Will you come with me?”

”I’d better not!” Meng Xingzhi shakes his head, ”Meng Ping has been hospitalized. I’ll drop you off at the Main Hospital, then I have to go to Meng Ping.”

”What? How could Meng Ping be hospitalized?” Su Yun paled, asking worriedly, ”Why is he in the hospital? Is he injured? Is it serious?”

”Four ribs are broken, it’s quite serious.”

”Then let’s go see Meng Ping!” Upon hearing Meng Ping was hurt, Su Yun couldn’t care about anything else, immediately urging the driver, ”Drive, to the hospital.”

”Yes!” The driver, also worried about Meng Ping’s condition, immediately started the car. He didn’t quite understand the President’s thinking; the President’s only son was injured and hospitalized, and naturally, the Lady should go to see the Second Young Master—how could they go to see someone else?

Of course, the Second Young Master’s wellbeing was more important.

Meng Xingzhi looked at Su Yun with an inscrutable gaze but ultimately said nothing.

In the hospital, as soon as it was confirmed that Sheng Ning’s life was not in danger, Su Hai sent everyone else away.

He and Xu Qigang sat side by side in the ward, silently gazing at the pale and frail Sheng Ning on the bed, their brows involuntarily furrowing together. The two men didn’t speak for a long while; an occasional exchange of glances revealed hostility in their eyes.

”You shouldn’t be here!” Xu Qigang said.
