She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 520: Chapter 541 Please Take Care of Someone

Su Hai was jealous. Ningning disliked him and wasn’t fond of her dad, yet she had accepted Huai’an first.

That was just too much.

So he stopped looking at the map and handling the handover and simply stood by the window, staring outside for when Su Huai’an would return.

Did this ungrateful kid forget about his little uncle?

After waiting for half an hour, Su Huai’an hadn’t come back, but Sheng Ning had.

”Reporting!”

”Come in!” Su Hai’s voice was gritted in anger.

Sun Gan opened the door, Sheng Ning came in to greet him, and then Sun Gan left the room, closing the door behind him.

”Director Su, I have something to discuss with you.”

”Speak!” Su Hai sat down on the sofa, his face no longer showing the teeth-gritting anger from before, but now warmly smiling.

”When are you going to pay me the manuscript fee you owe me?” Ten thousand yuan! It’s not a small sum, and she was counting on this money to pay off debts and buy a dowry!

Su Hai had guessed that she was coming for the manuscript fee. If he didn’t owe her the ten thousand yuan, this girl probably wouldn’t come to him at all.

”You wouldn’t be refusing to pay, would you?” Sheng Ning felt uneasy as she saw his inscrutable smile. She certainly wouldn’t have come if it weren’t for the money. ”Director Su, your credit really is terrible.” The creditworthiness of Su Huili was indeed very worrying.

”Who said that?” Su Hai slammed his hand on the armrest of the sofa and stood up, walking to his desk, he pulled out a kraft paper bag from the drawer and tossed it in front of Sheng Ning. ”Ten thousand yuan, not a penny less. Me, not paying you? That’s a joke.”

This damn girl had a real talent for infuriating people with her contempt.

Sheng Ning didn’t care about losing face or feeling embarrassed. She directly opened the kraft paper bag and took out a passbook and a thick stack of cash. Her eyes roamed, and for a moment, she couldn’t understand.

”Ten thousand yuan is not a small sum. It’s not safe to keep it in the dorm, so I opened an account in your name and deposited eight thousand on your behalf. The remaining two thousand is for you to carry around as pocket money.”

Two thousand yuan in pocket money? She wasn’t rich enough for that. In the early eighties, two thousand yuan was worth more than the later twenty thousand yuan. ”Thank you! I’ll take the money. We’re even now.” She turned and walked away as soon as she finished speaking.

Su Hai wanted to call out to her, but she had already run off. This girl, still avoiding him like the plague.

”Sun Gan, come in.”

”Present.” Sun Gan entered, trembling, clearly sensing that the director was on the edge of losing his temper.

”Where’s Su Huai’an? Tell him to come to me.”

”Director, Professor Su has already gone back.”

”What? He’s gone back?” This damn kid slipped away so quickly; he must have guessed that Su Hai would definitely be angry, so he decided not to come at all, right? Humph! If Su Hai was the Su Huili, then he was the little fox.

Absolutely unbelievable... The Su family was smarter one than the other, so why was his sister the only idiot?

”Yes, Professor Su said his business was already taken care of, so he went directly back to the university.” Sun Gan was also puzzled! It seemed that there was something to discuss with the director, but evidently, Professor Su had returned without speaking to Sheng Ning.

”I understand! You can go back to your duties now.”

”Yes!”

Southern

As the days were getting colder in the Northern region, the Southern region still basked in the brilliant sun. Qin Yue wore a vest over his rescue uniform. His tall figure hadn’t even come close but already exuded an intimidating presence.

He walked on the street, and numerous people greeted him warmly.

”Deputy Director Qin, you’re back!”

”Deputy Director Qin, you’ve finally returned.”
