She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 483: Chapter 496: Sudden Performance Task

**********

The one-month-long consolation performance tour had passed by in a flurry of activity.

Visiting the troops for performances was entirely different from attending the large celebrations hosted by the Steel Group or the General Union. Conditions with the troops were even harsher, and sometimes there wasn’t even time to take a sip of water throughout the entire day. They danced and laughed, and when they reached the sharp-end units that seldom saw outsiders, they would perform encore after encore.

Faced with pair after pair of longing eyes, it was truly difficult to refuse.

The weather was also cold, and after twenty continuous days, everyone had lost weight from exhaustion.

Especially Sheng Ning, who had recently become a celebrity thanks to the last industrial newspaper coverage. The circulation of the industrial newspaper was terrifyingly large, making it hard for anyone not to know her.

Wherever she went, she undoubtedly generated a star effect, although online influencers weren’t a thing then. She thought that if it were the future, she could make a fortune.

Thinking of making money, Sheng Ning sternly counted the days until her return. Su Hai still owed her ten thousand yuan! He hadn’t given it to her yet; she decided she would demand it from him the moment she got back.

The future big leader, with such credibility, was really worrying! How could he better serve the people in the future?

“Gather! Gather up!” The bugle sounded, and the person leading the team this time hurriedly came over, along with Yang Wenyin.

“Best to the main unit!”

“Comrades, hello!”

After exchanging greetings, Yang Wenyin’s stern face broke into a slight smile. “Everyone has worked hard during this period!” Perhaps having experienced many things, these young girls had also learned to mature. The consolation performances this time went extraordinarily smoothly, not only without any incidents but with everyone performing excellently.

“It’s not hard! It’s our honor to serve the comrades.”

“Very good!” Yang Wenyin praised, “After this performance ends, I will give each of you two days off.”

“Oh!…”

“Long live the main unit!”

The young girls of the Song and Dance Troupe were ecstatic.

“I can finally take a break, I’m almost dead from exhaustion!” Wu Youli complained, her dark circles evident. Blood Rose was exceedingly popular, becoming a must-perform piece at every show. As the female lead, Wu Youli was thus even more exhausted.

From one troop unit to another, sometimes the drive could take four to five hours. She would fall asleep as soon as she got on the vehicle, waking only upon reaching the destination.

“You are all too naive!” Sheng Ning speculated, “Don’t forget, there are still ten days left! We’ve only gotten through one-third of the time.

“Ah! Why can’t it end tomorrow?”

“Why can’t it end today?” Dabao wailed.

“Pathetic!” Chen Huaying scoffed. If anyone in the General Union Dance Troupe took to this like a fish to water, it was her. Chen Huaying, ever since visiting the various troop units, seemed to have inexhaustible energy every day. Her straightforward personality and lack of fuss made it easy for her to mingle with the comrades. Sometimes, she even went to their shooting ranges to play a few rounds.

Speaking of shooting, one must mention Sheng Ning’s scores of two bullseyes during the previous training camp. This had become a legend, and if she hadn’t been a woman, she might have become the rookie of the year.

At every place, there were people inviting her to compete in shooting or to show off her skills, but Sheng Ning declined them all. Her future focus was on dance.

One should not be too greedy, hoping to excel in both dance and shooting, and wanting to stand out everywhere. That was impossible!

If she really became such a person, she would despise herself.
