She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Passing the Review

“I initially thought I had misheard, since I was half asleep anyway.”

“What led you to speak up about it?”

“Because I tested her, and she was guilty.” Sheng Ning delivered the answer she had already carefully thought out, since no one knew she had been reborn.

This excuse could explain things well.

“I heard she insulted you? What do you think about that?” The shrewd woman’s eyes gleamed with a hint of light.

“Heh heh…” Sheng Ning chuckled, really wanting to reply that she had already taken her revenge! But considering such a response wouldn’t pass scrutiny, she straightened up and said assertively, “If one cannot tolerate a bit of insult, how can they have the face to shout slogans about protecting the family and the country?”

...

“Very good!” The shrewd woman nodded in satisfaction. “I have no more questions, you may go back now.”

“Yes! Thank you!” Sheng Ning stood up straight, greeted the other person, and quickly left.

After she left, a door that had been shut the whole time opened, and a man in his thirties came out.

The man had a handsome face with determined eyes, clearly someone of authority.

“How was it?”

“Her ideological awareness is high, unlike the rumors.” The woman changed from her previous shrewd demeanor, expressing a high opinion of Sheng Ning. “I suspect she must have known the inside story a long time ago and didn’t expose it due to concern for a teammate. The reason for exposing Zhao Feifei this time must be because she couldn’t tolerate Zhao Feifei’s insults.”

During the conversation, she had been observing in secret. Then, based on her observations and Sheng Ning’s answers, she concluded the above.

Someone who receives a personal greeting from the President of the Union must have high ideological awareness. Otherwise, they wouldn’t catch the President’s eye!

The man seemed to agree, his expression more relaxed after hearing the report. “That’s right, considering teammate feelings is proper.”

“Yes! So, do we still need to investigate Sheng Ning?”

“No need, it’s all been confirmed. The people who went to investigate Zhao Feifei’s hometown have returned. The local official responsible has been fired.”

This outcome had been kept secret by the General Union, but the corresponding personnel were dealt with comprehensively. They were all held accountable for lax supervision.

“Not only is there no need for further investigation but we should also reward her,” the man said, furrowing his brows. “Arrange for Sheng Ning to join the union early, encouraging her for her performance in the Zhao Feifei incident.”

“I’ll notify the General Union Song and Dance Troupe immediately.”

********

Sheng Ning, having left the interrogation room, walked along the broad avenue of the General Union, occasionally encountering familiar faces who greeted her with surprise.

“Aren’t you in training? How come you’re back already?”

“Something came up!” It seemed many people were unaware of Zhao Feifei’s issue, and she wasn’t foolish enough to bring it up voluntarily.

In the 1980s, thoughts were far from as open as they were in the twenty-first century, especially within the union, which held very strict reviews on position and thinking.

This time, she had acted a bit impulsively and nearly got herself into a messy situation – something she had to change in the future.

“How is it going? Did you manage to survive training under Living Yama?”

“Quite good, quite good!” Sheng Ning answered hastily, noticing the day getting late, intending to hurry back to the War Wolf Rescue Team, but just as she was leaving the main gate, she was halted by Yang Wenying.

“Greetings to the regiment leader!” Sheng Ning involuntarily took a deep breath, her mind spinning quickly to prevent her expression from showing too much shock.

“You sure ran quickly!” Yang Wenying said, with a touch of indifference.
