She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Unexpected Joy

“You all chat, just don’t delay my training,” she said, casting a meaningful glance at Meng Ping’s chest before turning to leave.

In her previous life, she had stabbed him right in this spot. Just three inches off, she could have taken his life.

“Please do not disturb the training.” Once the practice was over, Dai Bin arrived to find everyone secretly watching this area. He walked over with a displeased face and immediately had Meng Ping driven out.

“You’re not from the War Wolf Rescue Team, get out, get out,” Su Hai seized the opportunity to kick him while he was down.

“Sheng Ning, wait for me,” Meng Ping grabbed Sheng Ning’s arm, forcing her to look into his eyes. “So you’ve got a tough spine, I’m really looking forward to the moment you relent.” Having said that, he didn’t bother with how others disrespected him and left straight away.

Stepping out of the gates of the War Wolf Rescue Team, he stood bewildered under the sunlight. Looking up at the deep blue sky, a strong wave of anger surged in his heart for the first time in decades.

...
He was truly a petty man, never caring about face. But for the first time, a woman’s attitude had infuriated him extraordinarily.

After a long while, he sighed. Feeling that his visit had been too impulsive, since his initial purpose hadn’t been this—he wanted… he wanted to see her smiling at him.

Meng Ping was startled by this thought, and after realizing it, his expression turned wonderfully intricate.

After Meng Ping had left, Sheng Ning was taken by Su Hai to a reception room within the union’s headquarters. Seeing Su Hai reminded her that he was Qin Cuifen’s big backer, Meng Ping’s cheap uncle, and she couldn’t feel good about it.

The last time they had clashed, she had been thoroughly defeated and even had the script of Blood Rose taken from her. She didn’t know what he wanted this time.

“You seem to really dislike me?” Su Hai felt a bit distressed—today, Meng Ping’s actions had made him appreciate this girl even more.

Especially when she crossed her arms and looked down at others—she resembled his sister when she was young, which made him feel particularly close.

“Director Su, you’re the leader, how could I dare!” Sheng Ning took a deep breath, trying her best not to show any negative emotions.

“Hehe…” Su Hai laughed ambiguously, seeming to neither agree nor disagree. This girl really thought him a fool! Did she think he couldn’t see it?

The first time they met he felt her respect and aversion. The second time, the aversion had noticeably increased!

“Director Su, what do you need me for? It’s not about the last inspection that still hasn’t passed, is it?”

“No!” Su Hai coughed lightly, his face serious, “Your last written drama was very good. After I reported it to the superior department, I found it to be very in line with current thinking. So I came to discuss some details about modifications with you, the original author, and also about your reward.”

The whole nation was now chanting ‘Women hold up half the sky’, so when Sheng Ning initially prepared to write a play for Wu Youli, she deliberately chose such a story.

“What needs to be modified?” Unexpectedly pleased, Sheng Ning strove to remain calm. She was a dancer; how plays were acted was not up to her.

Su Hai nodded satisfied—excellent! Neither arrogant nor impetuous, no less than girls from major institutions.

“The ideological awareness is still not sufficient; some parts are disconnected from the masses.”

Sheng Ning showed an ‘as expected’ expression, “Sure, I’ll cooperate fully with whatever changes you want.”

“Good, let me first on behalf of the Inspection Department and the General Union Dance Troupe thank you,” Su Hai said amiably, not putting on any airs of a leader, and stood up with his right hand in front of him, bowing slightly.

Sheng Ning didn’t dare remain seated, and rushed to stand up and return the gesture.
