She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 17: Chapter 017: A Major Demerit Once

Zhang Hongmei noticed Sheng Ningʼs aggrieved expression and awkwardly apologized, ”Sorry, thatʼs not what I meant. Iʼm actually very happy that you can move in with me.”

”Iʼm glad youʼre happy.” She was deeply afraid of losing even a friend like Hong Mei, so she cherished her all the more.

Sheng Ningʼs right leg fracture had completely healed, and the next day she was summoned by Yang Wenyingʼs assistant.

”G... General.” Yang Wenying usually was very stern; everyone in the General Union Dance Troupe was afraid of her. Before entering the room, Sheng Ning carefully fixed her uniform to ensure nothing was amiss, mustering the courage to knock on the door. Once inside, she greeted dutifully, but under Yang Wenyingʼs critical gaze, she felt increasingly insecure.

She kept her head very low, looking like a little wife who had been reprimanded.

Yang Wenying secretly observed her, seeing Sheng Ning with her head bowed and an embarrassed, cautious look. In the end, she didnʼt scold her.

Thinking about the recent rumors in the General Union and several comrades subtly probing her for information gave her a headache.

This girl is nothing but trouble.

”How long have you been in the General Union Dance Troupe?” Yang Wenying asked stiffly.

”More than half a year.”

”Thereʼs an assessment at the end of the year.”

”Y...yes.” For some reason, she always felt inexplicable anxiety in front of Yang Wenying. Considering her usual performance, at the end of the year assessment, she probably wouldnʼt qualify to stay in the General Union Dance Troupe. In her past life, she had racked her brains and finally had Shen Jianguo make an exception for her to stay.

It had made Yang Wenying very unhappy at the time.

In this lifetime, she didnʼt necessarily have to cling to the General Union Dance Troupe. If she couldnʼt continue there, she could be assigned to logistics, or go to the union hospital.

Yang Wenying noticed she didnʼt seem worried about the end-of-year assessment and let out a cold smile.

”Last time, you embarrassed us at the party, so youʼll be given a major demerit. Youʼre forbidden from participating in any activities or training for a month.”

”What about Qin Cuifen?”

Yang Wenying cast an inscrutable glance at her, sternly saying, ”Comrade Sheng Ning, take care of your own matters first. Who gave you the right to inquire about othersʼ affairs? To speak bluntly, this could be considered unauthorized probing.”

”Iʼm sorry! I know I was wrong!”

”Alright, go back and reflect. Donʼt come back until you receive notice.”

”Yes!” Sheng Ning saluted, then silently turned and left.

Deputy leader Qiu Bai happened to come in and curiously asked, ”She didnʼt make a fuss?”

”No!” Yang Wenying shook her head. Sheng Ningʼs reaction had also surprised her!

”Did the sun rise in the west?” Qiu Bai joked, not believing it, and even went out to check, making the usually stern Yang Wenying laugh.

”Sheng Ning is acting too unusual.”

”Itʼs good that sheʼs not causing trouble. If she had made a fuss, she might have been directly expelled.”

”It doesnʼt seem like it was Sheng Ningʼs fault, though?” Qiu Bai felt it was unfair for her. Previously, she didnʼt like Sheng Ning, but todayʼs behavior made her see her in a new light.

”The incident did happen, and a major demerit canʼt be avoided. What happens next depends on her.”

The news of Sheng Ningʼs major demerit quickly spread throughout the General Union Dance Troupe. Zhang Hongmei was so worried that she started crying. Qin Cuifen also brought a group of her new good friends to see her, smiling sweetly and looking gentle.

”Sheng Ning, why didnʼt you stand up for yourself?” Qin Cuifen, seemingly unaware of Sheng Ningʼs displeasure, continued to provoke. ”Thereʼs less than a month until National Day, the performance at the War Wolf Rescue Team. Missing it would be such a pity.”
