She Lives without Regret in This Life

5  Chapter 005 The Show Begins

Fortunately, most people were still quite honest. If it had been later, there would surely have been someone eager to step on her when she was down.

Though she had been scolded, Sheng Ning couldnʼt help but smile.

The feeling of being able to start over was wonderful.

In this lifetime, she would not be as selfish and shallow as before, fighting for things that did not belong to her.

Thinking of that warm embrace before she died, a warm smile spread across Sheng Ningʼs lips.

In this lifetime, she would never miss that cold, silent, intimidating, yet warm man again.

Qin Cuifen looked at Sheng Ning and felt that something was amiss.

The lineup for the General Unionʼs gala was exceptionally strong. The top officials of the General Union were all present, and several leaders from the General Union Dance Troupe were sitting in the front row watching.

The backstage became increasingly busy as time passed. Sheng Ning had only been in the General Union Dance Troupe for less than a year. She usually liked to slack off during training, and didnʼt get along well with others, so she didnʼt have many performance opportunities. But because she was beautiful, with snow-white skin and rose-like tenderness, her large, sparkling eyes added brilliance even if she had no other redeeming qualities. She could still bring some face to the General Union Dance Troupe.

In modern terms, she was a one-person visual upgrade for the troupe.

Her song and dance troupe was under the General Union, but it was still far behind the Cultural Departmentʼs Qianjin Dance Troupe. They represented the country in overseas performances. Tonightʼs main show was arranged by the Qianjin Dance Troupe.

Their General Union Dance Troupeʼs leader, Wenyin, was from the Cultural Department and had heard that in her younger years, she had always clashed with the head of the Qianjin Dance Troupe.

”Tonightʼs performance is crucial. Whether our dance troupe can bring honor to the General Union depends on you all,” Wenyin was a woman around forty years old, impeccably dressed, with her hair neatly pinned into a bun. Her lips were slightly thin, and her sharp eyes made her seem very stern and unapproachable.

Sheng Ning felt a surge of emotion upon seeing Wenyin. In her previous life, after she got into trouble and was expelled from the General Union Dance Troupe, Wenyin was the only one who came to see her off, even though she usually looked down on her the most.

”Especially you, Sheng Ning. If you embarrass me again this time, Iʼll send you back to your hometown,” Wenyin glanced around, finally fixing her eyes on Sheng Ning. She was most worried about this girl. She disapproved of her usual behavior but acknowledged that she had potential.

Wenyinʼs warning was direct and harsh. Qin Cuifen was ready to enjoy the drama, but Sheng Ning just smiled and nodded, which pleased Wenyin.

After Wenyin left, their dance group leader, Lu Xiaoshuang, who had been sternly watching Sheng Ning, gave her a glare.

”Pah! Just look at her. Sheʼs a vixen,” she thought. They had all heard the rumors, Sheng Ning had been known as a loose woman back in her hometown and couldnʼt get married due to her bad reputation, so she joined the General Union Dance Troupe.

Did she really think the General Union Dance Troupe was some kind of place for any sort of mess? She would never allow such a woman to stay here.

Sheng Ning ignored Lu Xiaoshuangʼs hostile gaze. Her mind was entirely on Xu Qigang. In her previous life, she had been in a bad state of mind, anxious to win and quarrel with Qin Cuifen and Lu Xiaoshuang, which led to her miserable end.

In this lifetime, she would not fight or compete for anything. But if anyone dared to frame her again, she would retaliate twice as hard.

The brief meeting ended, the hostʼs animated voice and the audienceʼs enthusiastic applause could already be heard from the front.

The workers were sincere people. The applause was thunderous and made oneʼs blood boil with excitement.

Sheng Ningʼs changing area was secluded and far from the stage. Besides, their General Union Dance Troupe couldnʼt compare with the Qianjin Dance Troupe; the opening performance naturally didnʼt feature them.
