The Darkness System: Rise of the Broken Sovereign

From Kael’s left palm, a spiraling mass of absolute darkness took shape. Pulsar. The essence of gravitational attraction compressed into a singularity that pulled light, matter, and energy toward its core. The air around his hand distorted, dust and debris spiraling inward, the darkness so dense that looking at it directly felt like staring into a hole in the universe.

From his right palm, an expanding sphere of violent force bloomed. Quasar. The essence of gravitational repulsion pushing everything away with the force of an exploding star. The ground beneath his feet cracked outward in radial fractures as the repulsive field pushed against the earth itself.

The two opposing forces warred against each other through Kael’s body, pulling and pushing in directions that should have torn him apart. His Transcendent Core screamed under the strain. His meridians burned. But the Void Body Refinement held his physical form together while the Mantra of the Void Sovereign filtered and stabilized the conflicting energies, preventing them from destroying him from the inside.

Kael began the chant.

”Before the heavens opened, there was only the boundless void. Attraction binds the stars; repulsion drives the expanse. To force their union is to reverse creation itself. Let the gathering force swallow the scattering wind. Where the twin torrents meet, existence is denied.”

The two orbs pulsed with each word, growing denser, more volatile. The Pulsar sphere shrank, compressing further, its pull intensifying. The Quasar sphere expanded, its repulsive boundary pushing outward. Kael’s arms trembled. Blood vessels burst across his forearms. His mana dropped from twenty-two to nineteen and kept dropping.

But he held.

Twenty meters away, the fight had become brutal.

Karacus slammed both fists into Michael’s guard, frost exploding on contact. The angelic armor cracked across the chest plate, golden fragments spinning away. Michael’s counter was instant, a knee strike that caught Karacus in the ribs and launched him sideways through a wall.

BOOM. CRASH.

Karacus crawled out of the rubble, spat blood, and charged back in. His healing was working overtime, dragonic regeneration knitting broken ribs in seconds, but Michael’s healing was faster. Insanely faster. Every wound Karacus opened closed in the time it took to throw the next punch. The angelic armor didn’t just repair. It reconstructed, pulling ambient light and mana to rebuild damaged sections from scratch.

The wolf fared no better. It had taken a light sword across its back that carved a trench through its shoulder muscles. Dark blood poured from the wound, demonic energy struggling to close it. Michael had grabbed its muzzle and poured concentrated light directly into its mouth, burning the inside of its throat. The wolf had bitten clean through Michael’s forearm in response, tearing free a chunk of angelic armor and the flesh beneath, but the wound had sealed before the blood finished spraying.

The disparity was cruel. Karacus and the wolf were durable enough to survive. Michael was durable enough to ignore everything they threw at him.

Kael’s mana hit sixteen percent. Fifteen.

The two orbs in his palms were reaching critical mass. The Pulsar sphere was no longer visible as a distinct object. It had become a point of absolute blackness, a microscopic singularity that warped the air around it into a funnel. The Quasar sphere had grown to the size of a basketball, its surface crackling with displaced energy that arced outward in random directions, scorching the rubble.

”Keep going,” Kael muttered through gritted teeth. ”Just a little more.”

The two spheres began to drift toward each other. Not because Kael was pushing them together, but because the fundamental forces they represented could no longer exist in such close proximity without interacting. Attraction pulled. Repulsion pushed. The boundary between them became a zone of impossible physics where matter and energy tore themselves apart trying to obey both forces simultaneously.

They merged.

The result hung before Kael like a miniature black hole made of pure gravitational force. It was neither Pulsar nor Quasar. It was both. It was neither. It was something that shouldn’t exist, a contradiction given form, a paradox that the universe itself rejected.

The orb pulsed.

Michael noticed.

He drove his fist into the wolf’s chest, the impact creating a shockwave that sent the beast tumbling through two buildings. Before the wolf could recover, Michael’s wing swept around and caught Karacus across the midsection, launching the dragon-kin into the air.

BOOM.

Karacus crashed through a water tower, the metal structure collapsing on top of him in a cascade of rusted steel and frozen water.

Michael turned toward Kael with blazing eyes.

He rushed forward.

Light wings burned with maximum output, propelling him across the destroyed battlefield at a speed that turned him into a golden streak. The distance between them, twenty meters, shrank.

Kael looked up. His eyes met Michael’s.

And he smirked.

”Grand Sovereign Art: Gravitational Paradox. Chapter Three. Oblivion.”

He launched the orb.

It moved faster than it should have. Not a projectile but a distortion in space itself, a patch of reality where gravity had gone mad, rushing toward Michael like a hungry void. The air in its path didn’t part. It simply ceased to exist, swallowed by the paradox’s event horizon.

Michael sensing great danger raised both hands. ”Light Prism.”

A cube of prismatic light materialized in front of him. Then another behind it. Then another. Seven light prisms stacked in a layered defense, each one refracting and dispersing energy.

The orb hit the first prism.

CRACK.

The prism held for half a second before shattering, golden fragments scattering like broken glass. The second prism caught the paradox, distorted, and cracked. The third lasted a full second before exploding. The fourth and fifth shattered simultaneously. The sixth bent inward, light warping around the orb’s gravity, and collapsed.

The seventh prism held for two seconds. Michael poured everything into it, angelic bloodline blazing, wings channeling their full output into the final defense.

CRACK-CRACK-CRACK.

The seventh prism shattered.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

The Oblivion orb detonated.

The explosion was a sphere of absolute gravitational destruction that expanded outward from the detonation point, and everything within its radius simply ceased to exist as organized matter. Stone became powder. Metal became atoms. The air itself compressed to the point of fusion before the paradox destabilized and released its stored energy in a shockwave that leveled everything within a three-hundred-meter radius.

Buildings that had survived the previous fighting disappeared. The street became a crater. The rubble became dust. A wall of displaced air rushed outward, flattening structures at the edge of the blast zone, shattering windows a kilometer away.

Kael was caught in his own explosion.

The shockwave hit him like a physical wall, launching him backward through the air. His Shadow Armor shattered. His body tumbled, limbs flailing, blood spraying from a dozen new wounds. He crashed through the remains of a concrete pillar and slammed into a chunk of foundation that stopped his momentum with a sickening CRACK.

The wolf howled as the blast wave tore through it. The summoning bridge, already strained by Kael’s dropping mana, couldn’t maintain itself under the additional stress. The wolf’s form flickered, destabilized, and dissolved into dark particles that streamed back toward the Shadow World.

Karacus, still buried under the collapsed water tower, felt the shockwave coming and raised a frost shield over himself. The ice absorbed the worst of it, but the force still cracked his shield and sent him sliding backward through the rubble, scales scraping against concrete.

When the dust cleared, Kael lay on his back in the crater, staring up at the gray sky. Blood ran from his nose, his ears, his mouth. His arms felt like they had been disassembled and reassembled incorrectly. His mana was at four percent.

Karacus pulled himself from the wreckage of the water tower, frost crackling off his scales, and limped toward the center of the blast zone. His eyes scanned the devastation.

”Hope that finished him off,” Karacus said, his voice rough.

Light exploded from the center of the crater.

The light faded slowly, and Michael Weston emerged from the epicenter of an explosion that should have killed a Mana Heart Rank 5 cultivator.

He was ruined. The angelic armor was gone, completely destroyed, leaving him in his torn white uniform. His right arm was missing from the elbow down, a cauterized stump dripping golden blood. His wings were shredded, half their feathers gone, the remaining ones bent and broken. Burns covered his body. Blood ran from countless wounds.

But he was standing.

Kael and Karacus stared.

How the fuck was this guy so durable?

Michael turned toward them. His bright eyes, even diminished, even bloodshot, still carried that weight of something beyond human. He opened his mouth to speak.

THWIP. THWIP. THWIP. THWIP. THWIP.

Multiple arrows tore through the air from the northeast.

All three of them were low on mana. Karacus was running on dragonic stamina and frost reserves. Kael was depending on his Mana Emergency Reserve, that hidden 5% reservoir that activated when mana hit zero, a failsafe he hadn’t needed since the Ashenveil dungeon. Michael was running on bloodline willpower and whatever internal reserves the angelic form provided.

Kael raised a gravity wall. Thin. Fragile. He didn’t have the mana for anything stronger.

Karacus raised an ice wall.

Michael raised a light prism.

Most of the arrows were standard lightning-enchanted shots that the barriers caught or deflected. But mixed in with the volley were powered shots, arrows coated in an even stronger lightning strike, compressed and concentrated to punch through defenses.

One punched through Kael’s gravity wall.

SHLCK.

The arrow pierced his stomach, exiting through his lower back. Pain exploded through his core. His legs buckled.

One punched through Karacus’s ice wall.

SHLCK.

The arrow buried itself in Karacus’s left thigh. He roared, frost exploding outward from the wound as dragonic healing tried to reject the foreign object.

One punched through Michael’s light prism. He twisted his body at the last second, the arrow that would have pierced his heart instead scoring a line across his already ruined chest. Golden blood sprayed.

Kael raised his head, blood dripping from his chin, and activated the Spirit Eyes of the Dark Emperor.

He saw her.

Four hundred meters away, standing on the ruined facade of a building like a war goddess carved from moonlight and lethal intent. Green eyes. Silver hair that caught the gray light like captured starlight. A massive bow in her hands, already nocking another arrow, the string pulled back to her cheek.

Elara Amastacia. Captain of Sylvan Star Academy. The last of her team.

She looked down at the three ruined fighters with a cold expression that held no mercy, no hesitation, and absolutely no intention of letting any of them walk away from this.

The arrow left her bow.
