Chapter 854: Chapter 854: Undercurrents Surge in the Land of the Nine Netherworld

The old man’s expression was very frightened.

After all, Lin You had disappeared without a trace for thousands of years and suddenly appeared. How could this little gatekeeper not be excited?

“What, you’re not welcoming me back?”

Lin You crossed her arms in front of her chest, pretending to be angry, prompting the old man to repeatedly explain.

“Miss, what are you saying? Your return to the Nine Netherworld is simply a blessing to us and our king…”

The sleazy old man suddenly realized that he might have said too much.

His voice paused before he immediately corrected himself.

“Miss, you’re back. Our king will surely be delighted. I’ll inform our king of your return right away.”

After speaking, the old man began drawing an array at his feet.

Lin You was very familiar with the runes the old man was writing; wasn’t this an array used to transmit information?

“Stop.”

Lin You grabbed the old man’s right hand.

“I want to surprise my father with my return, so you know what to do.”

As soon as Lin You finished speaking, the old man immediately apologized.

“Hehe, I understand, Miss. It was my oversight. Let me open the gate for you, and you can go back quickly. Your return will certainly make our king ecstatic.”

Having said that, the old man smiled obsequiously and rubbed his hands together, releasing a dense purple smoke from his hands.

Then, the old man withdrew his right hand and slapped it against the space in front of him.

The purple mist quickly spread, embedding into the void before finally revealing a door.

The old man skillfully pulled it open, and suddenly, the sparse plain in front of Lin Yi and the others changed abruptly.

A broad avenue blazing with a green Netherworld fire spread out before everyone.

At that moment, Ziyue finally understood why her superiors had said that without Lin Yi, this mission could not be accomplished.

Without someone from within the Nine Netherworld to guide them, Ziyue by herself could never find the true entrance to the Land of the Nine Netherworld.

Seeing the road appear, Ziyue, transformed into the appearance of the Nine Nether Divine Soldier, was somewhat forgetful, stepping forward on the road ahead of etiquette.

This sight immediately displeased the old man who had been smiling joyfully.

“No, you lowly creature, what’s wrong with you? How dare you walk in front of the miss? Are you courting death?!”

Despite the old man’s small stature and sleazy demeanor,

his strength was not to be underestimated. A sudden middle kick directly knocked Ziyue, in the form of a Nine Nether Divine Soldier, to the ground.

“What, are you disregarding the miss because she’s been away from the Nine Netherworld for too long?”

The old man’s hand began to flicker with a faint light, which manifested into a dagger endowed with the Power of the Primordial.

As the atmosphere seemed ready to spiral out of control, Lin You intervened.

“The Nine Netherworld doesn’t have many rules, but there’s one you must abide by: recognizing your position and doing what you should do. Today, this attendant is someone I brought. If he has done anything wrong, I will be the one to punish him.”

“Do you intend to usurp my role and handle him on my behalf?”

As her words fell, a pressure from the depths of her soul was released once more.

The old man, panic-stricken, could only kneel and incessantly kowtow to Lin You, apologizing profusely.

It wasn’t until Lin You and her party walked out of sight that he dared to stop.

Watching the place where Lin You had disappeared, ensuring her presence had entirely vanished, the old man dared to stand up and dust the dirt off his clothes.

“Heh, you finally came back. Want me to keep quiet? Sorry, Miss, but I prefer listening to our king. I must report your return.”

After mumbling these words, the old man resumed marking the space before him. One by one, the special characters emitting a purple glow began to form. Just as they were about to be completed, a strong hand grabbed the old man’s hand.

“I say, you gatekeeper, you sure have guts. Didn’t you hear what the miss said?”

The old man turned his head to see a sturdy man standing behind him.

That face was one the old man knew very well. He immediately staggered back, falling to the ground in fright.

“Y-young Master, why are you here?!”

The newcomer rudely hoisted the fallen old man up, his face full of disdain.

“Oh, you still remember me as your Young Master, huh? Not bad, not bad, commendable.”

After saying this, Qin Guang released his grip and clamped down on the old man’s throat.

“Remember, you’re just a gatekeeper. Listen well to the master’s words, and don’t act on your own. My sister has come home after so many years, wanting to surprise my father, so no reporting, understand?”

The old man’s dangling legs struggled frantically, but he couldn’t even breathe, let alone speak. Despite wanting to beg for mercy, he couldn’t say a word.

Just when he thought his life was about to end, Qin Guang released his grip, causing him to collapse to the ground.

“It’s good you’ve learned a lesson. Don’t need me to teach you everything.”

Having said that, Qin Guang headed towards the entrance to the Nine Netherworld.

“Mr. Qin, I’ve come to meet you.”

At the entrance to the Land of the Nine Netherworld, a young man in a purple robe was waiting politely for Qin Guang’s arrival.

At the sight of Qin Guang, he respectfully bowed to him.

The Nine Nether Divine Soldier responsible for guarding the entrance broke into a sweat upon realizing this person actually knew their Young Master.

Especially at the moment Qin Guang extended his hand to shake that of the man in purple, it felt overwhelming:

Oh no, once the Young Master’s in a bad mood, he’s going to end up delivering a package of slaps.

“Mr. Qian, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting. I encountered a small mishap on the way and got delayed for a few minutes. Hopefully, our Nine Nether gatekeepers didn’t trouble you. If there’s been any offense, I apologize on their behalf.”

The man in the purple robe repeatedly bowed, revealing a ring engraved with the character “Mao,” and said courteously.

“Mr. Qin, it’s nothing. The Land of the Nine Netherworld is indeed a critical location in the Three Realms, vital for peace. They’re simply performing their duties diligently; there’s been no wrongdoing.”

Seeing the Young Master in a good mood, and his guest understanding, the soldiers on duty dared not utter a single unnecessary word and quickly opened the way, watching Qin Guang and his guest depart.

“Mr. Qian, did you bring the things I asked for?”

Qin Guang smiled gracefully, causing Qian Chong, a member of Dark Rising, to break into a smile.

“Mr. Qin, how could we not bring what you wanted after all these years of waiting for you to accept our invitation? If we hadn’t, we’d be rather impolite, wouldn’t we?”

After speaking, Qian Chong took out two different boxes and displayed them in front of Qin Guang.
