Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Set a Small Goal—First Upgrade Fireball to Forbidden Curse!

What?

skill point every second?

This cheat is way too big!

Lin Yi was feeling quite confused.

Because according to what he learned from textbooks.

In this world, most professional skills are initially obtained in their basic form.

Even if you are a master-level expert of the Fifth to Sixth Transformation.

When you get a new skill, it’s just a Level 1 minor skill.

Subsequent gains require grinding dungeons, completing missions, or obtaining skill points through rare treasures or encounters.

And the efficiency of acquiring skill points is extremely low!

At least before the Third Transformation, most difficult dungeons only yield single-digit skill points.

As for normal dungeons, sorry, the completion reward doesn’t exist skill points!

Therefore, for professionals in this world, the skill rank is largely the direct reflection of their combat power.

If my skill rank is higher, even if my level is lower than yours, I can easily prevail.

This is also why most professionals in this world are grind maniacs.

Because to enhance skill strength, not grinding is impossible!

And Lin Yi?

He simply did a bit of math in his heart.

He doesn’t need to do anything.

No need to grind dungeons, no need to complete tasks.

He can idly spend a day and gain 86,400 skill points!

What kind of concept is this!

This means that after obtaining a new skill, Lin Yi could very likely max out the skill to the highest rank in just one day!

Lin Yi’s confusion and shock were seen by others.

It’s already turned into disbelief and a huge psychological disparity!

Comparison is the most dreadful thing!

With Jiang Ya, a rare-level professional as the head, coupled with so many people’s expectations, only to result in such an outcome.

They even start to worry if Lin Yi could bear the disappointment and gap.

Below the stage, Zhang Shan clenched his fists.

After the initial shock, he felt more distressed for his good friend.

In his mind, even if Lin Yi can’t awaken a rare-level profession, it should at least be uncommon, right?

Who knew it was just a regular mage.

And the first skill he got was still the Fireball Technique.

The characteristics of the mage profession are very obvious.

That is a wide-range, high-output, violent damage type profession.

But it has many weaknesses too.

Long casting time, fragile!

So most mage professionals initially get the best skill which is the Frost Arrow.

Because ice skills have slowing and control effects.

Convenient for mages to kite and level up.

Though fire skills deal higher damage, they require a lot of protection.

They practically lack any solo leveling capability.

”Lin Yi, I think you shouldn’t be so disappointed, it’s already very good.”

”The mage profession is boundless in prospects, the future is long, don’t be hung up over temporary gaps!”

On stage, the old principal forcibly smiled, patted Lin Yi’s shoulder, and advised earnestly.

Meanwhile, countless people and media below the stage started discussing.

”Top of the grade, how come it’s just a normal profession...”

”Hehe, I love watching plots where geniuses fall!”

”I’ve long disliked that kid, acting high and mighty just because he’s a bit handsome and has good grades!”

”Now he’s been humbled, look at him, surely he can’t take the blow!”

”He’s going to become ordinary!”

”You guys are full of it! Acting like you can certainly awaken a combat profession, you might not even be better than Ah Yi!”

Zhang Shan started arguing with classmates who were making sarcastic comments.

He stiffened his neck, face flushed.

In the crowd, Jiang Ya looked at Lin Yi on the stage, a hint of regret appeared in her eyes.

She didn’t make any sarcastic remarks.

Nor did she look down on him for awakening a regular profession.

She understood this man too well.

Three years of sitting beside each other, three years of rivalry.

Jiang Ya had incredibly complex emotions towards Lin Yi.

She had to admit, this moment was when she finally won over Lin Yi once, but why does she still feel so down?

Lin Yi was also stunned by the old principal’s comforting.

When was I feeling down?

Can’t you see that I’m incredibly excited right now?

Uh, better keep a low profile.

No, I can’t stay here any longer, Lin Yi feared he might not hold back his laughter.

With this talent, he already had a crazy plan in his mind.

According to what he learned from books.

All professional skills are divided into nine levels.

Above the ninth level is the ultimate form of skills for all professions!

To take the mage example, the ninth-level skill is a Forbidden Curse!

What comes above the Forbidden Curse, Lin Yi didn’t know.

But he had a small goal, which was to advance his Fireball Technique to the Forbidden Curse first!

From Level 1 to Level 9, the required skill points are in the millions!

For most professionals, it may take hundreds of years, or even a lifetime to achieve.

But for Lin Yi, it would only take a little over ten days.

Lin Yi didn’t participate in the latter part of the awakening ceremony.

Anyway, everyone thought he was feeling down right now.

Then I’ll just play along.

Getting off early, sweet!

Lin Yi left school and returned home.

The one who opened the door was Lin Yi’s father, Lin Guodong.

”How did it go, what profession did you awaken?”

”Your mom bought a whole table of good food waiting for you.”

Lin Guodong looked at his son with a smile.

Even though he was just a regular life professional, the most hard-working and lowest-ranking miner among life professionals.

He was proud of having Lin Yi as a son.

Lin Yi’s mother, Xu Qingfang, heard the noise of the door opening and came out, looking at Lin Yi with anticipation.

Lin Yi: ”Mage!”

Lin Guodong and Xu Qingfang exchanged a glance, seeing the surprise in each other’s faces.

”Not bad, not bad!”

”Hahaha, who would’ve thought my Lin Family produced a combat profession!”

”Mage is great! High output, no worries in employment!”

”Come on, wash up and eat!”

The dinner was enjoyed happily by the family of three.

Lin Guodong even brought out the aged wine he had treasured for years, drank a few more cups than usual.

He even poured Lin Yi a glass, since he was of age and could drink now.

Lin Yi didn’t want to spoil his father’s mood, so he accompanied in having some.

...

Time flies like the flow of water, seven days passed in the blink of an eye.

During these seven days, Lin Yi didn’t go anywhere.

Just stayed home, played games, and checked his phone.

The days were incredibly comfortable.

After awakening his profession, the theoretical and practical courses at school had all stopped.

For all new professionals in Xia.

After awakening a profession, it’s essentially equivalent to graduating from high school, and the next month is time to grind and level up skills.

In a month, it’s Xia’s annual nationwide professional college entrance examination.

Passing the entrance exam and getting into a better Professional University is beneficial for future life.

During these seven days, other classmates probably worked hard and accumulated a dozen or so skill points?

He was ahead of them by an unknown number of times!
