Supreme Sword God

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Oppressive Illusion, Repeated Provocations

Yu Heng was in a completely bewildered state.

What happened after he fell asleep?

The room was just somewhat bright, not fully daylight...

Just at this moment.

The woman with a turtle drawn on her face woke up and looked at Yu Heng.

She remembered she was about to break the seal on her cultivation to teach Yu Hui, that troublesome Fatty, a lesson. At the crucial moment, someone knocked her out from behind!

The person in front of her is definitely an accomplice!

”Who are you exactly!” Yu Heng shouted, wearing night clothes, clearly not a good person. He was already channeling his power, ready to act.

The woman flickered suddenly, appearing instantly in front of Yu Heng, and punched.

”Boom!”

Yu Heng’s body smashed through the house, flying out.

The commotion here immediately drew Lin Ying’s attention as he was looking for someone. When Lin Ying arrived and saw the scene before him, he was dumbstruck!

Then, another group of Martial Arts Academy disciples who were assisting in the search arrived.

Everyone who saw the turtle on the woman’s face was also stunned.

Who did this?

Too ruthless!

This seems to be Yu Heng’s residence. Could it be Yu Heng?

Bastard, not human!

......

Ye Chen didn’t care or worry about how this turmoil would end.

To settle the scores, first they need to find Yu Heng, then that Fatty Yu Hui who was ruthless in his actions.

Ye Chen also took some risks, fearing Fatty might not keep his mouth shut!

If that were the case, he absolutely couldn’t cooperate with Fatty in the future.

By noon, as the matter hadn’t escalated, Ye Chen knew this incident was considered over.

At this moment.

A loud voice came from outside.

”Everyone, gather, the second round of assessment begins!”

Upon hearing the voice, Ye Chen immediately left the house, just in time to see the bruised and battered Yu Heng.

Yu Heng was fine... then it’s completely fine.

Suddenly, a large stone fell from the sky.

”Quick, dodge!”

In the crowd scrambling to evade, one of them was Yu Hui.

Yu Hui’s face was pale, almost ready to curse out loud, others could dodge, he couldn’t.

This stone was aimed directly at him, locking onto his aura.

To lessen the impact of being hit, Yu Hui could only activate his two spirit marks, though they appeared white.

The spirit marks emitted light, forming a screen above his body.

”Boom!”

The stone shattered the screen, and Yu Hui’s body was directly hammered into the ground.

A moment later.

Yu Hui miserably arrived at the gathering area, everyone’s gaze at him was peculiar.

This little Fatty hid deeply, turned out to be a Tier Two Spirit Master, but also incredibly unlucky to be struck by a stone falling from the sky...

Ye Chen roughly guessed the reason.

It was definitely revenge!

Yu Hui deliberately stood next to Yu Heng, his flashy clothes were tattered, covered in blood, miserably appearing as if he and Yu Heng were comrades in misfortune.

”Brother Yu, you have it hard too,” Yu Hui patted Yu Heng’s shoulder, expressing endless sentiment.

Yu Hui was a Tier Two Spirit Master, and Yu Heng was inclined to make friends, saying sentimentally, ”Friend, we’ve both shared hardships. We must support each other in the future. May I ask your name?”

”Yu Hui,” Fatty said, ”Brother Yu, I’m determined to make you my brother!”

Yu Heng was greatly touched.

Ye Chen stifled his laughter.

The Yu Family members really are stupid.

At this moment, Outer Courtyard Instructor Lin Ying led people over, glanced at the Fatty, and said, ”Recently some instructors have been researching secret techniques on the mountain. Sometimes unexpected accidents happen due to uncontrollable power.”

This remark somewhat explained why stones from Celestial Mountain fell on people earlier.

Lin Ying continued, ”This year, Cangxing Martial Arts Academy’s assessment is simplified. The second round tests your mindset and willpower. Persisting for fifteen minutes qualifies you to become an Outer Disciple. The top six longest lasting individuals will become Inner Courtyard Disciples. Understand?”

The sudden assessment last night had already eliminated most people, so this year’s assessment didn’t need to be as complicated as in previous years.

In other words, those who passed last night’s sudden assessment were already outstanding.

Originally, there were ten Inner Courtyard Disciple slots this year, but four were pre-determined, leaving only six.

”Understood!”

Everyone shouted in unison.

Lin Ying nodded, then waved his hand. Suddenly, a spherical bead appeared in his palm.

With Lin Ying’s power infused in the bead, it floated up, hovering above everyone, and a light curtain spread out from within, enveloping them all.

A powerful pressure erupted from Lin Ying’s body, concentrating into a torrent and flowing into the bead. It further enhanced the pressure, affecting each young person under the light curtain.

In the light curtain, Ye Chen immediately felt a mountain-like weight pressing on him. Then, his vision showed a person.

An elder with gray hair and beard, a sinister smile on his face.

It was Gu Yue, the elder from Celestial Sword Sect who had ruined his family.

Gu Yue’s appearance gradually changed in Ye Chen’s view, sprouting fur, eyes bulging, blue-faced with fangs...

Ye Chen’s killing intent suddenly exploded; his eyes turned blood red, breathing harsh, hand gripping the sword hilt with bulging veins, knuckles turning white!

Just as Ye Chen was about to completely lose control, he suddenly bit his tongue, regaining clarity.

In front of him, there was no Gu Yue.

All were young people who came with him to Cangxing Martial Arts Academy.

However, everyone’s expressions were different.

Some were giggling, some crying, others wildly swinging weapons in place.

Soon after, Ye Chen found the surrounding environment changed.

Everyone disappeared, and he found himself standing on a metal chain, connecting two cliff faces, below him a bottomless abyss.

The mountain wind roared, the chain swayed violently; Ye Chen felt he could fall at any time and be crushed.

Even knowing this was an illusion, the realism was too intense.

Ye Chen simply closed his eyes.

But closing his eyes didn’t help, still feeling the incredibly real sense of crisis.

”No matter what, my heart remains unmoved, and all is illusion!”

Ye Chen immediately sat crossed-legged, seizing this opportunity to use Nine Heavens Sword Manual’s second layer cultivation technique!

Outside.

Lin Ying was quite surprised.

Previously, when pressure and illusion appeared, Ye Chen reacted the most intensely, but this youngster quickly composed himself, adjusted his state, and even started cultivating on the ground.

Truly naïve, truly fearless.

Even if he cultivates, the pressure and illusion still affect him.

If his power loses control, at best his meridians and Dantian could be damaged; at worst, he might suffer body implosion!

But as the one responsible for the assessment, Lin Ying couldn’t intervene, otherwise fairness would be compromised.

He could only let nature take its course.

This was Ye Chen’s own choice; if anything happened, he couldn’t blame anyone.

Just then, a sudden shout was heard.

”Ye Chen, when the assessment ends, it’ll be time for me, Bai Sen, to take your life!”

Days ago, Bai Sen who suffered at Ye Chen’s hands came charging, spear in hand, full of killing intent.

”Shut up!”

Lin Ying roared angrily, staring at Bai Sen, ”Deciding life and death with Ye Chen is your business, but now during the assessment, you dare to interfere with Ye Chen? Even if you have a pre-determined slot, I can still disqualify you!”

Bai Sen cupped his hands toward Lin Ying, ”Instructor Lin, I’ve realized my mistake.”

Naturally, causing conflict with Lin Ying wasn’t beneficial; Bai Sen wasn’t foolish. After all, the message was already heard by Ye Chen.

Maybe, before he even acts, Ye Chen would die in the illusion. Death in an illusion wasn’t uncommon.

Even if Ye Chen didn’t die, his mindset would be disturbed, his power might reverse; later it’d be effortless to kill him!
