Chapter 948: Chapter 930: Tragedy and Refusal

Leonard walked to the front of Rosalia’s bed, his chest heaving with emotion, but he still adhered to the etiquette and knelt on one knee.

While Lann appeared much more casual than he was.

After all, he had lain on the Goddess’s lap.

Lann strode past Leonard and headed straight for Rosalia’s bed.

Lann first placed Gecide, who was curled up in his arms, at Rosalia’s feet, then took an item from Rong Buqiu’s hands who was following behind.

He took the baby that the little cat was holding high and placed it on the other side of Rosalia.

Those amber cat eyes closely watched the Goddess’s trembling lips and her violently heaving chest.

”Please calm down, Your Highness.”

The Demon Hunter said this while pressing down on the Goddess’s trembling hand that was reaching out, wanting to touch her child.

The Goddess’s figure was larger than Lann’s, but her strength was not enough to resist the Demon Hunter’s restraint.

She clearly wasn’t a god with combat abilities.

Such an action was undoubtedly disrespectful.

But Leonard, standing before the Goddess’s bed, instinctively wanted to stand up, yet as soon as his knees left the ground, he regained composure.

Being the Goddess’s Guard Knight, loving Rosalia was certain, but it was definitely not a blind love.

This was evidenced by the fact that he could go against the Goddess’s wishes, and persuade Lann to interact with the angelic faith.

In the current situation... the Goddess truly needed to calm down.

Rosalia’s hand kept trembling, which Lann could feel as he pressed down.

And his gaze remained fixed on the black veil covering the upper half of her face until the Goddess gasped deeply in a sobbing manner, stabilizing her hand, and only then did Lann release his hold.

”I know, you have been separated from the two children for a long time.”

Lann softly and sincerely said as he gently removed the hood covering Gecide’s head.

He could hear Rosalia’s breathing tighten as he gradually pulled the hood aside.

Until finally, the reflection of crystal appeared beneath the hood, and that already faint breathing seemed to disappear completely, entirely choking up.

Rosalia knew what these crystals meant.

Lann thought.

”Saint Gecide, we rescued her from the Great Library of the Sages. She was already in this state at that time.”

Lann narrated the simple process.

Yet this simple process was enough to make Leonard, kneeling before the bed, clench his fist, the leather glove creaking from the pressure.

The long-oppressed mages, what might they have done to King Ausloes’ daughter, the angelic faith’s saint... it’s simply unimaginable.

Rosalia reached out to touch her daughter, yet seemed afraid of hurting those fragile crystals.

Now these crystals had become an important part of Gecide’s body.

And Lann did not stop, continuing in a calm and steady tone.

It’s best to deliver bad news all at once, otherwise waves of doom might crush a person.

Moreover, Rosalia’s mental state was not optimistic.

”I went to Losric and once again rang the second bell at the Fire Transmission Altar.”

Upon hearing this, Rosalia raised her head. She was once Losric’s queen, the eldest daughter of the first generation of the divine race, even the legitimate source of King Ausloes’s mastery of the Fire Transmission Ceremony.

She naturally knew what path to take to reach the Fire Transmission Altar, even that desolate ash cemetery, she had managed it before.

And Lann’s next words indeed confirmed Rosalia’s correctness.

”I killed Ausloes. He had already turned into a scaleless, deformed white dragon, driven mad. Othello was used for some sort of mutation experiment by him. To evade pain, Othello instinctively hid himself, until he appeared before me.”

The two divine race children were now by their mother’s side.

However, one was invaded by crystals, and the other was blue all over like a stillbirth.

There’s nothing more torturous for a mother than seeing her child suffering by her side.

Even Rong Buqiu, who originally didn’t get along with Leonard, stood by the Goddess Knight’s side, took off his small cat helmet, and held it somberly in his arms.

”The princess and prince will be alright, Rosalia!”

Originally kneeling on one knee with his head lowered, Leonard suddenly spoke up as if to comfort the Goddess or offer reassurance.

”As long as you exercise that power of resurrection, all pain will vanish with the resculpting of the flesh!”

”Although this will turn the noble saint and prince into maggot men for a time, as long as they endure this period, everything will...”

Leonard did not finish his words, although everyone understood his meaning.

What interrupted the Goddess Knight’s words was not someone’s speech but the Goddess’s action.

Seated on the bed, the Goddess leaned forward, sobbing and trembling uncontrollably in profound grief.

Yet she still reached out... lifting Lann’s left hand and placing it on her forehead covered by the black veil.

The Demon Hunter widened his eyes and looked around.

Here, there was no Winged Knight who could share the Goddess’s sentiments, nor were there clergy... was this action trying to communicate with me?

With a cautious mindset, Lann, under Leonard’s wide-eyed gaze nearby, performed a modified version of the [Yakxi Rune].

A connection of thought was established between the human and the goddess.

However, unlike the first-time feeling.

Now, Rosalia’s thoughts no longer gave Lann the warmth of gentle sunshine.

On the contrary, the Goddess’s mind trembles, even on the brink of collapse!

”No... no... I can’t do it, Lann!”

The originally gentle voice becomes grief-stricken and panicked, at a loss.

”The children... Geside and Othello, they are too deeply eroded by the knowledge of the crystal! It is the knowledge of the White Dragon Hiss... the forbidden White Dragon Crystal!”

”The connection between the soul and the inorganic is tighter... those crystals do not just erode the flesh... I can’t save them! I, I can’t do anything!”

”I can’t do anything!”

In the link of thoughts, the Goddess’s words have completely lost fluency, she is venting her helplessness and pain on the brink of collapse.

Lann tastes for the first time the surge of intense emotions coming back through the variant of the [Yakxi Rune].

That profound sadness almost makes him feel as if his heart is being clenched.

Yet Lann, in adversity, always manages to adjust his mindset and go on to conquer adversity with a tenacious and active posture.

This time is no exception.

Amidst the pain and helplessness transmitted from his mind, Lann takes a deep breath.

His logic and thought start operating even under such difficult sentiment.

Rosalie says ’The crystal makes the soul and the inorganic closer,’ which means even the resurrection ritual probably won’t save these two Godly children who have been heavily eroded.

Without a complete soul, they are expected to remain in the phase of the Maggot Man eternally.

Not even as good as the Maggot Man, at least that believer who became a Golden Armor Feathered Knight chatted with Lann during the Maggot Man phase, maintaining the integrity of thought.

These two Godly children, even if the resurrection ritual begins, will probably only turn into mindless Maggot Men, genuine maggots.

With a maggot’s posture, retaining only physical survival... isn’t this crueler than killing them?

Yet vaguely, Lann feels Rosalie’s decision in the exchange of thoughts.

Lann unconsciously widens his eyes, staring at the Goddess bent over toward him.

She still wishes to preserve the children’s bodies. Even if it’s merely their bodies.

Geside and Othello are her children, she never wishes to part from them again.

But this should not be so.

Lann, through mental communication, clearly understands Rosalie’s mental state.

At this moment, if she executes the resurrection ritual on the two children, transforming them into maggots kept by her side, she probably indeed seals her heart completely.

Utterly immersed in her own world.

All day long merely caressing the children turned into maggot. And the children would too, out of instinctual dependence on their mother, stay beside her.

”Please reconsider, Rosalie.”

Lann cups the Goddess’s face, forcibly meeting her gaze under the black veil.

”This should not be their end! I saved them not to witness a tragedy! Do you understand?”

Suddenly, Lann seems to think of something.

His previously fierce questioning toward the Goddess’s face suddenly stiffens, then hurriedly withdraws his hand from cradling the Goddess’s cheeks, rummaging in the alchemy pouch at his lower back.

A small cloth bundle is pulled out, and as Lann gently unravels the bundle, the Goddess’s eyes that were helpless and dazed gather at the Demon Hunter’s hand!

The ’tingling’ sound arises from it, with several scratch marks on the cloth bundle.

It is the Holy Bell Lann found in the Great Library, originally owned by Geside, later influenced by the crystal!

The scratches on the cloth bundle are slit by the crystals on the Shaking Bell.

”This is those sages’ research on crystallized magic in the Great Library. Now, this mysterious Holy Bell can serve as both a magic catalyst and a miracle catalyst! Unprecedented!”

Lann holds the Crystal Holy Bell, presenting it to Rosalie.

His tone contains hard-to-conceal excitement.

”This bell... is what those sages surmise and conclude from their experiments! Do you understand?”

If that Crystal Holy Bell is described merely as a powerful spell catalyst devised by sages then it severely underestimates the crafting casters.

This Holy Bell is more like an academic summary and verification after a large experiment!

Displayed on it is how that crystallized magic affected and infected Geside’s power-enriched Holy Bell.

Interference, eroding, assimilation... all shown step by step!

As long as the thoughts can be untangled within it, then...

Rosalie’s hand, as if to touch some treasure, cautiously takes that Crystal Holy Bell from Lann’s hand.

She can ’understand’ this Crystal Holy Bell, and thus knows better... there is hope for her children!

Being the eldest daughter of the first God King Gwyn, the Sunshine Princess, she even lived in the Old Divine Capital Yanorlund with White Dragon Hiss, the origin of the White Dragon Crystal knowledge!

Although she is a miracle-performing Divine Race, the knowledge and insight accumulated over millennia are not false.

If in a clueless state, Geside and Othello indeed can’t be saved.

Yet now, a summary of the opponent’s experimental ideas and result summary is laid before them. The difficulty in nullifying the damage, for the Sunshine Princess dubbed ’nourishing all things and loved by all things’... is no longer hard!

”Thank you...”

A warm and gentle voice suddenly transmits within the thought connection, filled with gratitude.

Lann instinctively wants to reply ’You’re welcome.’

But before his mind completes its cycle, Rosalie, who had already bent forward, directly embraces him.
