Chapter 942: Chapter 924: Charge Forward!

Almost as the tail feathers of the arrow trembled, reverberating against the building’s stone, leaving a resonant after-vibration.

Lann, in that instant, had already cleared his thoughts, discerned directions, and charged directly into action!

He could see that the one King’s Black Hand at the top of the tower had actually noticed them from above over ten seconds ago.

The longbow infused with Power of Soul [combat technique] used earlier was merely to inflict casualties and intimidation on their squad.

Regardless of whether the arrow succeeded or not, this King’s Black Hand would decisively blow the horn.

Although this place was quite a distance from the bridge where everyone was stationed, making it hard to see what was happening here.

Once the horn sounded, the stationed soldiers would inevitably come to check things out.

And what Lann needed to stop was that horn sound!

Almost at the same moment, the King’s Black Hand at the top of the tower placed the horn against his lips, Lann reached the platform just beneath the top.

His left hand shot upward, aimed at the King’s Black Hand about to blow the horn.

The royal shadow assassin assumed it was a ranged weapon and stepped back, hiding out of Lann’s line of sight.

But this wasn’t a straightforward ranged attack; it was a Magic Seal!

[Yakxi Rune]!

Adjusted precisely by Mentos and designed to exploit a brief psychological vulnerability, the interference-type Magic Seal took immediate effect.

Together with the cold, white magical glow, the King’s Black Hand about to blow the horn suddenly felt an uncomfortable itching in his throat, demanding a few coughs.

And he had to do it immediately!

Instinctively, his body completed this simple action for him.

But as soon as he finished coughing just once, his eyes beneath the broad-brimmed hat abruptly came to clarity... How could he have paused at the enemy’s approach just because his throat was uncomfortable?!

The horn pressed to his lips, throughout the interrupted exhalation of the cough, couldn’t give a loud, resonant alert sound.

It only uttered a dull ’puff, puff’ sound.

Which couldn’t even carry ten meters away.

Immediately afterward, what met the King’s Black Hand’s eyes were... three hulking figures of Golden Armor Feathered Knights, exuding fierce air and killing intent!

The three Golden Armor Feathered Knights moved decisively as Lann patted their shoulders, running past them.

They instantly grasped Lann’s order from this gesture language and immediately flapped their wings, soaring and plunging towards the top of the tower!

Three enormous, gold-glinting figures nearly shrouded the entire tower top in a vast shadow.

The exaggerated smile-shaped breathing holes on the faceplates of the Winged Knights appeared terrifying and grotesque in this moment.

The King’s Black Hands, as royal shadow assassins, focused more on agility skills.

The King’s Black Hand on the top was originally much faster than the Golden Armor Feathered Knights, but unfortunately.

Lann’s induced coughing not only prevented him from sounding the horn but also delayed his actions.

The Winged Knights’ agility indeed was not as good as his, but using their Power of Soul for explosive [combat technique] within short distances was comparable!

Moreover, this was three Golden Armor Feathered Knights converging at once!

The wind began to grow fierce and violent.

As three massive humanoid figures began spinning with their respective weapons.

The three Golden Armor Feathered Knights had similar [combat techniques] inscribed on their weapons.

Two wielding double axes spun with arms wide open, moving like bladed tops.

While the one with the heavy long lance did the same, except the ’blade’ spun longer and more fiercely.

Paired with their bulky armors, from afar, they might appear comical.

But facing the impact of three golden ’bladed tops’ firsthand, one would understand the overwhelming pressure they exert.

The massive inertia from their spinning bulk wouldn’t even halt upon collision with walls; instead, they’d gouge out chunks of solid stone!

Lann only watched as the three Golden Armor Feathered Knights ascended, then finally heaved a sigh of relief.

The King’s Black Hand above was already a dead man in his eyes.

Indeed, the royal shadow assassins have the strength to contend with the Three Pillars of Royal Authority, just with their extraordinary personal combat skills.

However, here in this confined tower top with no room to maneuver.

The agile King’s Black Hand couldn’t deploy or elongate the battle line for selective strikes.

Blocked by three Winged Knights and their own lack of brute force as an advantage...

With Lann rapidly pinpointing his location and orchestrating the tactical deployment, even delaying the last horn blow.

This King’s Black Hand was doomed to die before the formal clash with the Winged Knights even began.

Within an instant, tactical judgments, whether right or wrong, led to the current outcome.

Beyond Lann’s sight, a brief yet intense clamor of metallic clashes erupted atop the tower.

The sound of blades clashing, great axes breaking apart metal plates, and then tearing through flesh arose after a fleeting moment.

Soon, three Winged Knights donned in lavish golden armor, stained with large patches of splattered blood, descended.

Their golden armor bore several sharp and profound sword marks, indicating that even under extremely unfavorable combat conditions, the King’s Black Hand still managed to resist.

”That’s a King’s Black Hand who hasn’t yet crafted his iconic pair of weapons.”

Spoke the Long Spear Winged Knight, familiar with Lann.

He was panting through the exaggerated smile on his helmet.

”He only has a Knight Sword, but is carrying a wedge-shaped stone disk. It seems to be weapon material bestowed by the Prince, yet to be forged.”

Finishing, he shook his head rather gratefully.

”It’s lucky we were able to handle him in such a short time... How did you make him cough just now? That was crucial!”

”He was trying to blow the horn earlier, not fight.”

Lann waved his hand.

”If he was in the determined and resolute state of welcoming combat, I wouldn’t even have the ability to make him waver.”

Then, the rest of the team hurried from the spot just hit by the Bow and Arrow sniper.

The King’s Black Hand’s Bow and Arrow [Combat Skill] was indeed violent; most sniper rifles can’t pierce a brick wall in a single shot.

But his arrows, even when slackened, still managed to penetrate the Winged Knight’s body and lodged halfway into the stone wall!

”No time left, quick resolution!”

Lann glanced at Klimte, who was still shaken but forcing himself to calm down.

The archbishop’s miracle was indeed useful. Not only did it heal the blood groove plowed into his shoulder by the arrow, it also healed the Winged Knight’s arm wound.

Yet, the swift execution of the King’s Black Hand by the three Winged Knights still made quite a disturbance.

After those three ’bladed spinning tops’ finished spinning, the entire tower shook for a while.

Looking at the knights and soldiers stationed on the bridge in the distance, although no alert horn was heard, some still came over to check.

Their actions weren’t urgent, nor their demeanor fierce, indicating they came over to inspect.

But at this stage, it has basically entered the time-crunch phase.

”We three will stay behind to cover the rear!”

The Golden Armor Feathered Knights, Goddess Guard, the highest combat force in angelic faith, stepped forward without hesitation.

However, as the action commander, Lann straightforwardly rejected this proposal.

”There’s no need to cover the rear.”

Mentos’ computation power was converting the upcoming actions into data and conducting probability calculation, submitting the final result for the main body’s decision.

Lann’s retina saw the data stream cascading down like a waterfall.

He relied on the brain power boost from the [Holy Chant Gland] to organize these submitted data one by one.

The Demon Hunter’s tone became calm and highly logical as a result.

”The enemies behind are not urgent; even if they find out something went wrong here, redirecting a combat force that could obstruct us will take time.”

”Perseverance through the front is needed, not covering the rear!”

”Focus all power on breaking through forward! From now on, no more covert operation rules.”

”Klimte, once you go down the known path, immediately sense the Saintess’ location, then...”

Amid the smooth friction sound between blade and sheath, the gleaming blade reflection swept across Lann’s strikingly handsome, almost otherworldly profile.

”We charge straight through!”

”Reserving combat along the way was all for now!”

The archbishop, with a grizzled beard, had seen much of the world. Yet, the matter concerning the Saintess and Lann’s serious instructions made him involuntarily swallow.

”Understood! Follow me!”

Klimte, who knew the way, took the lead, followed closely by Lann.

The remaining Winged Knights briefly exchanged perplexed glances...

They inexplicably felt... how come Lann seemed more like the actual leader of the angelic faith than Klimte now?

But no matter what, as long as it benefits the Saintess and Rosalie, the Winged Knights will remain steadfast.

In the tower’s mid-level room, a floor opening was just right above the Great Library’s dome.

This structure passed down from the Mythical Era has undergone multiple renovations by Losric.

Now, inside the stone main body, sturdy and broad wooden beams, stone beams are used as dome supports.

These beams are almost a meter wide in scale, equivalent to small pathways.

Looking down, the Great Library lives up to its name, with various-sized bookshelves stuffed full of books. The high-low, pieced placement of them made the entire library appear like a maze.

Not long after descending, Klimte quickly sensed the Saintess’ location thanks to Rosalie’s blessing.

Walking on the beams for just a short while, they saw a place resembling a giant birdcage, a small hanging cage atop the Great Library dome.

The cage was piled with heaps of books, scrolls, and a female wearing a white robe and hood was curled up listlessly at the center of the cage.
